@jstuart661 The max voltage you wanna be doing on a 12v system would be 16v. After that would be upping to 14v batts. the d3100s can take 15v pretty good. Very high end batteries.

@Troydigga Lol doesn't mean you can detect clipping to the point of a sub seizing from it... You don't need the DD-1 do tell you that you have clippage so bad its gonna seize your sub. :P

Hey Steve I got a questions . I'm from Romania(Europe)and My dad had a disco for like 30 years, and now that I got the car since im 18 I bought and 4 channel amplifier 200 watts each channel at 4 ohm, and my dad gave me his old disco speakers 500 Watts rms Twitter, mediums and bass.. so what I did it's that I took the 2 Bass Woofers out and on the back it says 180 Watts RMS at 8 ohm, so I got a box for thoose 2 and wanna connect 'em in the car but they are 8 ohm, is that ok for the amp ? :)

@AndreWs7K 8 ohms is double its 4 ohm impedance, therefore hooking them up puts double the resistance the amp is meant to carry, meaning that now its "harder" for the amplifier to push out that 180 watts rms then if it was at 4 ohms, therefore the amp draws more power, which overheats the electronics, which fries your amp. It is never okay to put double the impedance, even though the damage would really only be done at high volume levels. If you keep the gains way down it only might not hurt.
