Nothing about that engine bay says "hacked together" by any means...

thats why its called a crank damper. NOT a harmonic balancer. Really, if you knew ANYTHING about I6 engines.....

yeah check your timing, and your harmonic balancer, the pulley might be rattling back and forth... so the pin could be bad.
