If I had the pleasure to own a car as nice as an Acura period, that is the last thing I would do with it dude....take care of it, the RL is a pretty nice car to be treating like that.
so tow ring hits ground that's fine, but only bumper hit is not fine? You could hit bumper as well, where there is no reason to hurt a lovely car to make a movie to put on fucking youtube
@xxsekoxx NO i dont drive a tacoma i drive a 2007 TL Type S. My point was if he wants to do stuff like that he should get a pick up truck like a tacoma.
Actually my sister had a Volvo XC90 (04) and when the lease was up the tester tried going up a hill like this, and failed lol. So a Volvo cannot do it =).
@MikeHuntIsItchy That's because Volvo, the CRV, and AWD Chrysler vans use an "on demand", or as I call it "tag-along" AWD system. They're lousy when you need them to really work for you. They ONLY send power to the rear wheels AFTER the fronts have slipped. In really bad conditions, that's enough to get you stuck. Manual transmission Subarus, Mitsubishis and Audis always send a reasonable balance of power to both ends all the time.
@snowrocket - that may be true, but when she first got the car it worked fine, 4 years later it didn't send any power to any other wheels except the front 2. Volvo cars will always be crap in my eyes (minus the older station wagons) but Volvo semi trucks, those are niceee.
It's a good thing it was a lease. IMO, that's the problem with manufacturers without a lot of experience AND systems that rely on hydraulics/clutches/electronics to transfer the power: long term reliability. For most people most of the time, a simple mechanical AWD gives you everything you need 90% of the time. Time will tell if the Honda SH-AWD will hold up.
@OverlyExcitedNewJack Wow, I didn't know that! Well, that supports my overall claim that I've stated elsewhere on this site that the BEST AWD systems for cars are made by Audi, and Subaru. Both have decades of vast research and experience that have created reliable systems that operate seemlessly for years. Mitsubishi does a good AWD as well, but needs to "spread the love" to more than just a few models.
Why would you do this in a car like this. Yea, I'm going to take my $40k car up a little hill. That's not even what the purpose of SH-AWD is you retard. It's designed to give better handling...on roads...not hills.
dude...i took my 95 cavalier up a rly steep old logging road (my friends rediculous driveway lol) no problem...this...is week. ill record it and post it and show u steep
DID the ol RL do that? I had the 97 special bose edition but lost her to wipe out after only 8 monthes. Leathers were awesome in that car especially the back seat. ;)
It was the tow ring that struck. Bumper and exhaust did not hit. No damage done. Just a scratch on the tow ring which is located ahead and just below the bottom of the rear bumper. . The car does not have wheel spin when accelerating from a stop in the rain. Rented a Toyota Avalon last week in Florida and had to feather the throttle when making rapid moves across an intersection. You get accustomed to swiftly moving from stopped to speed across intersections with the RL's SH-AWD.
The car is beeping...probably saying, "What is going on here!!?"
