  • Most people who use derogatory terms for a homosexual is a homophobe and most homophobes are repressed homosexuals. I can't stand people who use the word "fag" as an insult to somebody especially over something really pathetic. Those types need to get over themselves and come out

  • DID THE QUEEN CURSE

  • I LOVE ALL 6 ITS A STORY ITS THE BEGINING RETURN OF THE JEDI WAS THE LAST

  • Bad film, but this is a great trailer.

  • 1:19 Wilhelm scream

  • @TheSchimmi Doesn't sound like it at all

  • The prequels were alright to me because they were the first Star Wars movies I've ever saw. I remember being 6 years old and going to see Episode 1 in the theaters with my Dad. Brings back memories of my childhood.

  • I knew the instant jar jar's mouth opened I would hate him. F jar jar.

  • The greatest disappointment of the 20th century.

  • This movie is going to suck

  • This was right around the time when all trailers started following the same forumula (Im not saying this one did) with long black pauses and a bassdrop every 5 seconds

  • At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have revenge.

    Epic!!

  • This was my favorite star wars movie because I used to watch it everday when I was a little kid at 3 years old. It still is my favortite star wars movie of all time.

  • @jediindyfan98 Me too!

  • A communications disruption can mean only one thing...

Something's wrong with the service out here

  • Long live the CIS the forerunners of the Rebellion!

  • 2:10 freaking goosebumps...

  • So many trailers of today are sooooo cheesy. Editors have got to learn from stuff like this. I would really love to see these movies in the theater again. But watching movies in 3D for an extended period of time gives me a headache...and I'm only 26 years old. :\

  • I actually prefer the prequels. Yes, I went there guys. All 6 films are awesome, but Revenge of the Sith is my favourite and I'm seeing episode 1 in 3D not just for nostalgia, but because if its successful then we will hopefully see ROTS in 3D. Now that will be epic.

  • I like this movie for the same reasons you haters love the original trilogy: childhood memories. And don't tell me that it's not true, because we ALL have been introduced to Star Wars movies as kids. If these new movies ruined you childhood, I guess that sucks for you. But let those who aren't "little babies" like these.

  • @DeepEye1994 it didn't ruin my childhood.

i + many older fans were open to new experiences + love all the star wars movies equally.

you hit the nail on the head tho; i doubt anyone introduced to these movies as an adult would care enough about it either way.

people forget these are children's movies. i don't mind admitting that, why should anyone?

  • @DeepEye1994 I remember watching this as a little kid and loving it as I did the originals, and then I grew up liking the originals better. But I never thought the prequels sucked

  • If you didn't like the movie, that's cool. Everyone's tastes are different.

If you didn't like Darth Maul? You suck.

  • @TheDarthEddie Love Darth Maul, but they should've made him a bigger part of this movie

  • @TheDarthEddie Darth Maul is a faggot. Like you!

  • @joelberggren1 Real classy, jacktard. Leave it to an unsophisticated, homophobic knuckle-dragger to piss on everybody's parade.

  • @TheDarthEddie Classy isn't a classy word. I won't even repeat your second attempt at an insult, it's too lame, but that you follow it up with implying you're sophisticated is irony at it's finest.

And only a REAL homophobe would think saying faggot is homophobic. I would never even think of calling a homosexual a faggot, unless they were being a huge faggot. Like you!

  • @joelberggren1 I'm not even going to point out how many stupid things you said in that second paragraph. Ask almost any homosexual if "faggot" is a homophobic slur or not. You might not think it is, but quite frankly your opinion on the word is irrelevant to the fact that it's a demeaning slur the vast majority of people gay or straight don't want to hear. It's almost as bad as the N-word. The fact that you use it so casually in a STAR WARS discussion is just more proof you're an idiot.

  • @TheDarthEddie It's hilarious because, unlike you, I know and am friends with a shocking amount of homosexuals, all of whom call faggots (Like you!) faggots. But take 1 minute of your useless time and educate yourself by typing LOUIS C.K. - FAGGOT - CHEWED UP into youtube, and marvel at your own ignorance :D

And no, it's not the same as nigger. Because you see, you can be a faggot whether you be white, black, human, dog, sentient or insentient, whereas I've yet to see a nigger dog. Have you?

  • @joelberggren1 i'm sorry what? you think he should listen to what a comedian has to say about the word faggot? No actually, i think you should educate yourself and look into the context of what you're saying. When you insult someone by calling them a fag, you're using a derogatory word for homosexual. So by fucking definition, your insult is calling someone gay and saying you have a problem with it. Likewise, when you call someone a nigger, which is derogatory for being of african descent (cont)

  • @joelberggren1 you are more or less saying there's something wrong with being black, and you're likening them to that. I don't care what your friends fucking think. I don't care what you think. The word faggot is offensive and you shouldn't just ASSUME that everybody else is cool with you saying it. Otherwise, you're just a presumptuous asshole. Take glory in being wrong if you want.

  • @joelberggren1 Yeah, well that's where you're wrong. Calling a straight guy a "faggot" is akin to calling a non-African man a "nigger". This is because these slurs single out a specific group. You might not consider it the same thing, but it is. Both are terrible words and probably the worst in the english language. I've got no problem with fuck, shit, bullshit, but those two words are where I draw the line.

  • @meltingzombies Why would I care about your lines or interpretations? The people I respect have a completely different and hilarious interpretation. From what I can tell, "retard" is where you should draw the line, since it's the slur that most accurately describes you. :D

  • @joelberggren1 Wow okay, now you're an ignorant fuck. Do you not get it? The fact that you used "faggot" as an insult, and not in a friendly way like you mentioned, implies there's something wrong with being homosexual. Is that one guy you insulted one of your gay friends? No he is fucking not. So watch your fucking mouth.

And by the way, retard is also a horrible word to use in arguments because it too singles out a group of people.

  • @TheDarthEddie The ONLY complaint I have is that they showed that fucking awesome double blade that Darth Maul has! Imagine the freakin' intense feeling you would've gotten in you saw that for the first time on the big screen in context. Still baffles me to this day why they showed it.

  • @TheDarthEddie Darth Maul was a 1 dimensional character with a few fancy moves. Nothing really to like.

  • @DeathNoteFreak000 Correction: he was a badass fighter with very few lines in this film.

  • @DeathNoteFreak000 I agree with you. Talk about overrated.

  • @TheDarthEddie I dont get all the love for darth maul

  • @TheDarthEddie You mean that guy who rarely said anything, had no personality, and made the makeup effects on Star Trek look... good.

  • @sinbysin666 I can't argue that he wasn't developed terribly well, but since he was meant to be a one-shot character in just a single film he was never meant to have the depth or development of, say, Qui-Gon Jinn. Still, for the limited amount of time he appears on screen he's quite an acrobatic and intimidating badass.

  • the music at the end is the best star wars music ever

  • I love the originals but I also love the prequels! I only wish there was another Sith like Darth Maul cause Dooku and Grievous were just different for me.

  • This still brings tears to my eyes. So epic.

  • This is one of my favorite movie trailers of all time!

  • I'll be honest, i like the Phantom Menace.

  • i think if they didn't have the cheesy script writing this movie would have been almost as great as the original

  • Everything in this movie is over the top. Giant underwater sequence, giant pod-race, giant outdoor ceremonial ending.

  • It's difficult to live up to the previous Star Wars movies, but they did a good job at giving us the beginning to the saga's.

  • Crappy film

  • Crappy trailer.

  • @MrSchmupps Better than The Hobbit trailer and those faggy Rings movies

  • @NovocastrianUK 1. No, "The Hobbit" trailer is better, and that's a very early one. 2. What does this trailer have to do with "The Lord of the Rings" movies, which coincidentally are far superior to all "Star Wars" movies?

  • Had so much potential.

  • I remeber this during the kfc pizza hut and taco bell ads and me saying NO WAY!!

  • Say what you will, but I enjoyed The Phantom Menace.

  • @KnoxCarbon I like your style...

  • A bet a thousand fan-boys touched them selves the original day this came out!

  • I love the fact that, in spite of her planet being invaded and occupied and her own life being in dire peril, Queen Amidala seemingly brought suitcases full of dozens of elaborate outfits and make up supplies and did not hesitate to have her servants change her clothes at least a few times a day when her people were under attack and starving. Nice to know where her priorities lie.

  • eeexxcute orrder six T six

  • " Wipe Them Out - All of Them " Long Live the Sith !

  • I like the Phantom Menace, i don't care what anyone says

  • @mrcoolj81 the problem is some annoying brat nagging inmature people will reply rudely :S

  • I realy lke it because i never wach't the film but i like your video it has the best part's in it

  • I don't care what anyone says this is the best of all three prequels. The opening may have been boring but it was very 'Star Warsy', the chill and excitement I felt when seeing the hologram of Sidious instruct the Trade Federation, the sound of laser blasters despite them coming from the strange battle droids, the fast-paced podrace which reminded us of the X-Wings, the atmosphere of Tattooine experienced once again, and the awe-inspiring lightsaber duel at the end with a nostalgic conclusion!!!

  • simple...

people who hate prequels where they post comments everywhere that they hate it...

people who like prequels where they post comments everywhere that they like it...

  • y did jorj lucas think this would be better than the original trilogy

  • I actually like this movie. sure Jar Jar's annoying, the acting isn't great in the original trilogy. but I actually care some of the characters and the story. i know some of you think the writing's terrible, but i like it when it takes place when there's peace of the republic and the prequels show how Anakin turns into Darth Vader.

  • @Albekizan I couldn't have said it better myself, and as for the writing, it's pretty much on par with the rest of the saga.

  • I don't care what anyone says, I like the prequels. The acting isn't great, I'll admit, but the story is awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing Episode One in 3D next year.

  • It is amazing to think there was a time when people would spend 24 hours downloading this on AOL.

  • After watching this trailer I have an unaccountable desire to stock up on Cuprinol. Any idea why?

  • You know what the saddest thing about this movie is? The special effects. By Episode 3, the effects had taken on a life of their own, being so incredibly detailed and realistic, it skewed the line between real and fake. When you watched the original trilogy, you have detailed set pieces to add realism. When you watch this film, the effects are horrible out dated compared to movies that came out just 2-3 years later. Especially with the fight between the Gungans and Battledroids.

  • i want a home theater just to watch trailers like these

  • This sucked! The puppet Yoda is all worn out from episode 6 and 5, and it looks terrible, Jar-Jar is down right annoying, and Anakin is just a little annoying brat... Think about it, what was the point of this movie? We don't care how Anakin became a Jedi, we don't care where C-3PO came from, and also, This is opinion, but Darth Maul looks pretty silly. His name sounds pretty lame too... What's the point of Jar-Jar anyways? He's not funny, he's just there to be annoying!

  • @matrixfan127 STFU I care how Anakin became a Jedi... if you dont like it, dont watch it...

  • @matrixfan127 Darth Vader sounds just as lame as Darth Maul. Abd some people found C-3PO annoying in the original trilogy. The Prequels did everything they were saupposed to do. Show us the origins of the Star Wars story.

  • @matrixfan127

1.)i have to agree yoda looks creepy in ep1. but thank god lucas changed yoda as a cg characetr in the blu ray ver.

    2.)yes jar jar is annoying.

3.)anakin acts badass hile racing without saying oops and yippie. and one of the best characterists are feeling nervous in coruscant, that's the sign of anakin's fate.

  • This is by far the 2nd best Star Wars movie in the prequels. It is just a wonderful movie Jarjar aside. This is by far the best Star Wars trailer.

  • When does this movie come out? I've been watching this trailer since 1999 and I can't wait!

  • i liked phantom menace the others are pretty bad

  • Bait and Switch

  • 1:19 – wilhelm scream!

  • I was in college when this movie came out, and was working on computer animation at the time. When I saw this trailer my jaw absolutely dropped. It felt like the future was finally here. Even though the effects feel very dated now, and I still want to kill Jar-Jar, the movie still holds up as a pioneering work.

  • Lord Mauls only words are said in this trailer? Perfect!

  • 0:25 ooooor you didnt pay your commmunications bill

  • @powereater go post RLM jokes somehwhere else please...

  • I love the Phantom Menace!

  • sorry bet

  • I bit thousands of old fanboys are gonna go against me but i like the originals and the prequels!!

  • Comment removed

  • @SLPIFan cuz i don't know why i'm kinda a douche care about what people like and don't like to the point sometimes i watch movies i feel unsatisfied when i know people didn't like it!!!...and please...who likes battlefield earth and steel he's a man who escaped from a mental hospital

  • @AboAbdulable No, I'm a HUGE fanboy, and I Loved the prequals since I first saw them.

  • @AboAbdulable old fanboy here who agrees. =0)

    long live the saga!

  • @AboAbdulable I have been a fan for almost 20 years and I remember at 9 years old seeing episode 1 and loved it. True I love the originals better, but still its cool to put in episode 1 2 and 3 on a rainy day

  • @AboAbdulable I'm with you on that. I loved all the movies, I even plan on seeing episode 1 in 3D on Feb 10.

  • @17Watman

    Ditto

  • It's hard to believe it's been 12 years since this came out. It's about time someone remade this schlock.

  • wiiiiiiiii ya mero en 3D jijijiji que ya venga en 4D en mi pueblooooooooooo!!

  • man i just freaking love this movie. this was my childhood. the first ever star wars movie i have seen. this movie introduced me to the Star Wars saga and i became obsessed with it. The old fanboys maybe didn't like it but you have to admit that this movie introduced star wars to a whole new generation and it did a hell of a job. I can't understand why people don't like it. The colorful planet Naboo, the big gungan battle at the end and the pod race. All this was so awesome.

  • @Wololo41 I can explain very quickly why people don't like it. The plot is childish and makes no sense. The characters are flat and uninteresting. If you need more explanation than that you should just go watch RedLetterMedia's review.

  • Fantastic trailer. Too bad the editors couldnt re-cut the actual film or re-write the dialogue to make sense.

I've seen the film a dozen times and I still dont know why the federation was blockading Naboo. Something about taxation of trade routes. Who gives a sh*t?

  • @bagman1980

So true! If you come up with an answer, let me know...

  • @bagman1980

it is because of plaptine/sidious' doing. palpatine/sidious forced the trade federation to be greedy.

  • Where the AAT's come sweeping down the plains of NABOO...!

  • The more I read "fans" complain about this movie, the more I realize they don't hate it because it's bad. They hate it because it's not the movie that THEY would have made.

  • @SergeantLuke It's not bad? Is that a joke? Are you f*ing kidding me? As far as movies go, I've never been more disappointed in my life! This was an utter abomination. I remember watching this trailer, I was 10 years old, and I believe I watched easily 50 times (It came on the news and I recorded it on VHS), and being so excited. Yeah, well even as a 10 year old I knew this movie sucked bad! At least the people that made the trailer were smart enough to leave out Jake Lloyd! Not an accident.

  • @analyticaa But you just proved my point. You only hated the movie because it wasn't all you had hoped. If Episode I hadn't been called Star Wars, you would have been able to overlook it's many flaws, just as the fans of the original trilogy do - but because it's a Star Wars movie, it gets nitpicked to death.

  • @SergeantLuke Type in "star wars review" and click on the first review. He sums it better than I can on here, and it's pretty funny too. (Though there are some weird parts.) But if you want to know what fans didn't like about that movie watch that review! It's 40 mins long!

  • @analyticaa Sigh... again with the Red Letter Media. I am so sick of all of the haters saying "GO WATCH RED LETTER MEDIA AND YOU WILL UNDERSTAND HOW YOU ARE WRONG!"

Look, I'm not saying that Phantom Menace is perfect. It's totally not. There are many things wrong with it. But there's a lot of stupid crap in the original trilogy, too. The trick is to bite your teeth through the parts you hate and enjoy the movie on it's own merits.

  • @analyticaa

Haven't you realized yet that we've either watched them or don't care to by this point. Yeah the guy who made those reviews doesn't like the movies and we do. What's he or any hater going to do about it?

  • @SLPIFan The point is that he points out, in very clear detail, how stupid the prequels are.

  • @analyticaa

Were the reviews well put together? Yes.

    Were they entertaining? Yes.

Is it fine for people to agree with them? Yes.

    Are they law? No.

  • 2:14 my sentiments exactly.

  • i see this clip back years ago untill blood came out of my eyes

  • I like this movie I'd say best from the newer ones. It's effetcts are nice and not overdone, it's a balanced film to watch. Its has funny elements such as jar jar (even though much hated idk why) [especially his sayings suck much more in Epis2].

The acters do nice jobs and the units whatsoever don't look as ridiculous as in Epis2; I mean walking octopus' shooting outta there noses? comon

  • Star Wars episode I The Phantom Menace: Never again will anything be more widely anticipated or a bigger disappointment

  • If only episode one could have lived up to the essence of this trailer...developed Darth Mauls character more and gotten someone other than that little no talent brat they picked for Anakin

  • "Wipe them out. All of them."

Then why are you taking prisoners??

  • @twooffour

The wipe them out scene was talking about the Gungan Army in the third act in the film, not the Invasion of Naboo.

  • @SLPIFan

    So why take Gungan prisoners?

  • Comment removed

  • God DAMN I love the pacing here! It's like...if only these trailers were all we were left with, then society's memory of the Star Wars Prequels wouldn't be synonymous with Lucas taking a gigantic crap on his own earlier work.

  • 1:20 Wilhelm scream!!!

  • I went to the cinema just to see this trailer when it first came out. As I watched it, chills ran down my spine. Why was Obi-Wan screaming "NOOOOO..." All I wanted was for it to be May 19th so I could find out why. The movie was so-so, but this trailer is the best movie trailer ever made, bar none!

  • @icehawk84 Yeah, I can remember watching the trailers and being really excited. And when I saw the movie I didn't think that it was too bad, mostly because of the awesome lightsaber duel. And then the next day thinking back on it I thought "That movie really wasn't...all that good."

  • @icehawk84 because that red guy killed his master

  • @potitishogun2961997 I read your comment accidentally like this: "because that red gay killed his hamster" :'DDD

  • @XanaX93 lol

  • Jar Jar and Jake Lloyd aside, TPM was an awesome movie.

  • @stevecugp don't forget Natalie Portman

  • @stevecugp

i have to agree with you with Jar Jar. and although i have to admit llyod's poerforamces are not that great, there are som e good performaces when anakin raises his head when shmii agrees that he will podrace again, feels nervous in coruscant and that's the sign of anakin's fate that he will become darth vader, and feels sad and kissing his mother goodbye, and squints when the council denies anakin to be trained as a jedi, and that's the sign of darkness

  • "At last we will have our revenge" actually thats 2 films down the road

  • i don't understand why people dislike the prequels. I personally prefer the prequels over the original trilogy....

  • @MrRatchet1995

Awesome man! I don't quite prefer one over the other as I view it as one story. But sadly just wait a couple of hours. Some haters will start patrolling these videos to bash us, and if all else fails throw up RedLetterMedia and say it's over. Don't let anyone try to dissuade you from your opinion.

  • @MrRatchet1995 That's because you never experienced star wars in the theater without all the flashy bullshit CGI.

  • @TPCrisis It's better than man on a suit

  • @MrRatchet1995 Having an actor wear a suit is more convincing than any CG character. How would you have liked Chewbacca or Ackbar as a CG character? And the CG Jabba was an abomination to the puppet from the original ROTJ. But to each his own.

  • @TPCrisis those are exceptional but everything else needs to be... I mean... Men wearing Battle droid suits? A suit of Jar Jar Binks? No thank you! it's better with CGI

  • @MrRatchet1995 Please send me some of whatever it is you are smoking.

  • @zazozung :3

  • @NottinghamForest22

None of the Star Wars films ACTUALLY happened ;)

  • Nice trailer! There are no speeches, no long discussions, a lot of action, two seconds of Jar-Jar, and 1/2 second of the annoying kid. Too bad we got the exact opposite in the theatrical release... "Star Wars: The Long-winded Discussions." :-(

  • @mintchocolatebear

There weren't that many long winded discussions, at least no more than what equals all of the Imperial Officer meetings/discussions in A NEW HOPE.

  • @SLPIFan - Hahaha! I can see that. Good point. And I'm guessing the discussion on this video takes up more dialogue than all the talkiness of both New Hope and Phantom Menace combined!

  • I just pretend that this film never happened.

  • Thanks for answering my question.

  • I'm Sarah. Why is the Imperial March in this? It wasn't in The Phantom Menace it was in the Empire Strikes Back for Darth Vader only not Darth Maul.

  • @Concertchoir76 i can answer that for you as you know the emperor is in the orginal trilogy so really why is it in there well this is the prequal so its basically using the imperial march to set the story out really its to make us the viewers know that well this is where Star Wars saga starts does that answer your question and yeah Darth maul should not have the imperial march but Anakin Skywalker is Darth vader so its only right they put in there because the Saga begins tellling Anakins story

  • @Concertchoir76 Hi, Sarah! If you noticed the musical underlinement here is pure original trilogy - soundtrack for the new score wasn´t even written back then. And they have to use something! The imperial march is not only Vaders theme but the empires theme as well. So they used it representative here for the dark forces conspiring. The "Emperor" is in there and it´s part of the rise of the empire so there´s no track like the imperial march who would fit better, don´t you think?

    Greetings

  • it almost seems like a trailer for a sequel to the originals rather than a prequel, in my opinion i would have preferred a sequel...

  • This movie begone the best orgin movie... Ever!. I think the people did not like it because it was too for kids. It's like Harry potter, it gets better and darker.

  • 1:19

Now I know why I expect a Wilhelm Scream at that part everytime I watch the movie: because I subconciously remember watching the trailer when I was little and they had a Wilhelm Scream at that part in the trailer.

  • @absurdlyawesome

That wasn't in the final cut? I would watch my DVD, but it's currently in use as a coaster.

  • The movie that ruined Star Wars.

  • i have not seen the part when Darth Maul talks
