anyone know if there are springs in this floor, it looks like it has slightly more give than the floors in the 70s but it doesn't look like there are springs. When did springs get introduced into the floor exercise. Also if there are no springs that's a pretty amazing full twisting double pike!
There's a nother video posted by Talasco, that suposedly is the FX finals where she got a 10:00. The routine is very similar though the first tumbling pass ends with a full in and she ended the routine with just extended arms ( which I likke this better) Wonder if this one is Team competition ar the AA.
Isn't she just fabulous (and I was a Shushunova fan!) How many fx routines - especially these days with the lack of balletic expression and grace so evident - are this much of a sheer joy to watch?
All gymnastic floor areas are 'sprung' wood (like most Broadway stages and large pre-war dancehalls are). No, it wouldn't be possible (let alone safe) on regular solid concrete, for eg.
Shes so exciting, this is how a FX should be. She has feeling and great expression. I am bored by today's gymnastics, its like a circus routine. Everything is rushed. I love these old videos, she had so much charisma!
for me one of the best floor routines of all time, it has so much beauty and charm, nothing like this is seen today which is such a shame! tumbing was awesome and interpretation to the music was second to none! why cant gymanstics be like this today
An indelible mark on the sport of gymnastics! One of the best routines of all time. It is exhilirating to see the impassioned dance, spontaneity and originality. IMPECCABLE!
I don't think it has a name. It's known worldwide as Omelianchik's "birdie" music. I'm sure this music was especially designed for use on floor routine, and it's Omelianchik's trademark. As far as I know only one gymnast (Vanessa Atler?) used it later
okasy okay, you think i may be crazy, but i gotta ask this question--does anyone know the title of the music she uses in this piece? it makes me feel happy! i gotta have it!
Oksana was one of the most expressive gymnasts who really brought her personality out in her routines. Too bad you can't see her facial expressions and infectious smile from this distance. But thank you so much for posting this.
I never get tired of this routine!

What a beautiful dancer, and you're right, she always smiled and made it look like there was nowhere she'd rather be.
