  • If the rumors are true, wow Astrid like them young, since George was in his late teens, although Astrid was only in her early 20's. of course at that age guys like women a little older than them, such as the case with John who also had a crush on Jayne Mansfield. Yoko was 8 years his senior. I read Patti's book about her interest in photography, George liked to take pictures too. maybe Astrid inspired both of them, she was good at her craft.

  • "Something" is so easy to decipher. Look a man writes a song, everyone, including his wife assumes it's for her. So, he's going to publically say, "Yeah, sure I wrote it for her." He'll tell everyone what they want to hear. George Harrison was a brilliant man, he knew what to say and what not to say and how much. The other thing is George had no bad feelings when Pattie left him for Eric. He was happy for the two of them so there would be no reason to change a story. There was no sour grapes.

  • @englishlass agreed.

  • Who cares! George is yummy! HAHA

  • An alcoholic will go with an alcoholic. Patti and Eric were both alcoholics (Look at her now) Quote "During their marriage, both struggled with alcoholism and Eric had several bouts with drug addictions involving heroin and cocaine. The thing that devastated Pattie was that she could never have children, having had a damaging miscarriage while married to George".

  • If you listen to interviews with both Pattie Boyd and Cynthia Lennon they have very similar speaking voices.

    Both lovely, classy ladies. :)

  • Something WASN'T about Pattie. Read GEORGE'S BOOK, I ME MINE. He said it wasn't....

Look George asked Pattie for a divorce in 1969 when the song was written. The Something Video was John and Paul's idea. George didn't even want to do the "Something" video. It's all really sad and It seems she really did love him, but from the get go I don't think George loved her the same. He was pursuing Joey Heatherton pretty hard 6 mos into dating Pattie.

  • @otterj6

That's a new one on me, I thought they were very happy in '69. I know a few years later everything collapsed due to both their cheating. They did get married young, neither was settled down and George was so horny!

  • @cherrypop1771 In my reading about George and interviews, I don't believe he was ever really happy with Pattie. I read in an interview written after their marriage he said he wasn't serious about Pattie in the beginning...In a documentary Brian Epstein, due to mounting death threats, encouraged Paul and George to marry - Paul refused, George married. the more I read - George/Pattie = celebrity Propoganda. It makes perfect sense, especially their high profile/media frenzy marriage.

  • @otterj6

He was also dating Estelle Bennet a Ronnette plus escorting Haley Mills to different events, damn was his dance card filled or what!

  • @otterj6

I read that he did write Something for her, but when she left him, he changed his story stating he was inspired by Ray Charles, who did cover the song. I think he wrote it for her.

  • @cherrypop1771 Maybe...who knows. I also read in interview in 1969 when asked if he wrote it for Pattie. George said, "Yeah probably Pattie, Maybe." It wasn't a definite yes. If it was for her why not be honest and say it was? Also I read when Pattie was supprised when he said it wrote for her, because he just recently asked her for a divorce. Personally, I think he wrote for another woman/lover, but he was married. Only George knows for sure. He says no.

  • @otterj6

You are right, he waas wishy-washy about who inspired that song. It's sad he cheated soon into his marriage. I heard rumors "I Need You" was about Joey not Patti who knows. Too bad he never wrote another autobio, his sis Louise is penning a book about the Fab Four, but it's a guess how much she will tell.

  • @cherrypop1771 I think it's kind of shame people trying to own inspiration for this song. I think it does a disservice to George and the song. It's a beautiful song that has a bit of mystery. Kind of reminds me of Beethoven's Immortal beloved, who REALLY inspired Something (Pattie, Charlotte, Maureen, Astrid, Joey) if any woman at all. Personally, my money is on Joey. From what I read, he wasn't serious about Pattie in the beginning, but fell hard and fast for Joey. Again, that's the mystery.

  • @otterj6

I guess it will always be a mystery since George is dead and the women aren't talking. Why would Astrid be an inspiration for Something? Did George date her? I knew they were friends through Stu.

  • @cherrypop1771 There is rumor about George/Astrid, but out of respect for Stu, I don't think it went to far, or got too serious. There are some very cozy pictures of the two of them floating around the web. It was Astrid who took some of the most amazing photographs of George for years after Hamburg. If I were Pattie, I would have been quite insecure by a German chick following my boyfriend/husband around with a camera. Would make me want to take up photography...

  • Something is SUCH a wonderful, beautiful song *.*

  • Luv her. She's so sweet and clearly still loves George very much even after his death. Don't think she ever really 'loved' Eric, George was always her true love.

  • I kind of feel sorry for Eric, even though I'm sure Patti cared for him, George her first love would always have her heart, I read the lyrics to Golden Ring, did she think George was going to stay lonely forever? People move on. It's nice all stayed friends. Especially Ringo, George really did him dirty.

  • @cherrypop1771 I too feel sorry for Eric. Pattie played HIM big time. She admittingly USED him to make George jealous. It backfired big time! The fact that George was openingly sleeping around on Pattie as early as 1968 with Clapton's ex Charlotte Martin who was living in George's house is proof to me George had little respect for marriage and Pattie. I read once, George tired to sleep with Pattie's sister. I know he was "red blooded," but let's have some discretion.

  • For Pete Sake, why didn't both Patti and Olivia each clock "player" Beatle George for being a jerk and cheating on them.

  • Check out the HBO special about George. What a joke. Someone do a special about him with Patti Boyd, that would be real music history. Not the Petty nonsense that was in the special.A movie would be nice but no one could capture "that face". What a doll. I love George to this day( I listen to his music on U Tube so I get the background of pictures of him with Patti,,)but, he and Clapton sounded like a petty school boy saving face when they spoke of her and NO ONE bought it.

  • @maebelleish If it's all petty nonsense and George really loved Pattie, why pursue Joey Heatherton long distance while he was dating Pattie. Why go to such an effort and expense trying to make it with a girl in another Country if you love the one you're with. That doesn't make sense. George treated Pattie like a doormat from day one..and that's in Pattie's book. Again, not love.

  • It seems that George was not faithful to Olivia either, I read that while on tour with Eric in Japan in the 90's, he and Clapton's girlfriend Lory Del Santo had a fling. According to viewers of the recent HBO special, Olivia accepted the fact George still liked to play around. Poor woman, you really have to be strong being married to a Beatle.

  • dude she's a fuckin godess

  • I love Olivia but I wish George and Pattie had tried to adopt a baby.

  • The fact that she didn't realize the importance of the song only indicates the reason why he lost interest in her as a woman... no substance. Typical blond! George needed more that that. He was spiritually and intellectually lifted.

  • I don't thing any of them really wanted the relationship

to end. Pattie was thinking about rekindling the relationship.

Eric Clapton even wrote a song Golden Ring about how

upset Pattie was about Olivia and George's marriage.

She would have probably stayed with him until the end

if it wasn't for his studio work and spiritualism which he

    took to the extreme.

  • they were the 60's golden couple for sure :)

  • PEOPLE.... STOP BASHING PATTIE... they were

a lovely couple! They're very sweet together.

And as a man, I even understand why women

    found George sexy beyond reason.

  • Pattie has a sexy voice... no wonder

    Harrison and Clapton were writing

songs about her right and left....

  • Why are people bashing either George or Pattie on this one? Pattie is not a whore... They had marriage problems. Who doesn't at some point? They were very young. It's easy to get hung up on things when you're young.

  • @ldjajdoadijAAAA George was actually the whore, he stuck his cock into anything that moved back in the day.

  • PATTIE IS HOT. and I'm not saying it just because I'm a guy.

  • @ldjajdoadijAAAA

To me Patti is WAAAY more beautiful than Jane Asher, because unlike Jane, her beauty is natural.

Jane has had plastic surgery-I remember what she looked like back in the 1990s BEFORE she had it done-and her hair is dyed that hideous red colour that isn't the same shade it was naturally when she was young. Patti is and always has been a natural beauty;with her what you see is what you get.

  • such a genius... even Lennon and McCartney said on the

Abbey Road album that Harrison's songs were now at

least as good, if not better, than theirs...

  • I think George did write Something for Pattie.

It's just at the time he said he was thinking

of Ray Charles, I think he meant that it

influenced the way he sang his song, not

the subject. Also, when you're married to

someone else (like Olivia) and having such

a good marriage, when are you really going to

say it's about your first wife?

  • Why do people get stuck on Something thinking this is the only

song that George wrote for Pattie when there are a million others?

I don't get it... this man was a genius, and yet so many songs

    go unnoticed.

  • @ldjajdoadijAAAA I agree. I like all of George's songs. I have never understood what songs John, Paul and George Martin thought were so bad back in the early Beatle years. I like them all from 'Don't Bother Me' to 'Savoy Truffle' to 'Something.' All Things Must Pass is perhaps the greatest rock album released since the Beatles split. All those songs and a sense that George's music is not fully appreciated as it should be. At least there are those like us that cherish his music.

  • it's soooo sad they couldn't have children... they would have been stunning...

  • Pattie says George used to spend nights in the studio recording song after song, and she couldn't handle it anymore. Women were also obviously trying to steal George from Pattie. However, the truth is is that George was over the relationship much earlier than Pattie was. George said himself that he would have divorced earlier...

  • It just upsets me how this couple could have lasted if they just had patience... Pattie with George's music and Indian obsession and George with Pattie's

party behavior. On the other hand. Olivia seems like a sweetheart, so maybe

it turned out for the better. Who knows...

  • She still loves him, doesn't she?

  • what a genius... the whole "Maureen thing" is overstated... it

was more of a flirtation to get back at Pattie for having sex

with Eric. George knew about and was pissed, so he tried

to get back at Pattie with other woman...

  • I think people have a misunderstanding about

the Harrison/Boyd marriage. They loved each

other very much. George wanted to do his music thing,

and Pattie wanted to have fun, and the whole

thing was just a misunderstanding. You can tell

she still loves him, and he is the love of her life...

  • I'm so disappointed with all the comments. People are bashing Pattie and George when they are lovely people who clearly loved each other. Just because they cheated on each other at the end of their marriage, doesn't mean they're bad people. Who doesn't do something wrong at some point during their marriage...

  • 0:01 0:04 spread eagle!

  • I heard that originally George wrote it about her, but when Pattie ran off with Eric Clapton, he denied it. I would have done the same.

  • There is something that God put in women that attracts us men. It's not general at all, but a specific woman to a specific man. Sometimes you may spot her in a crowd of people and it changes your inward parts. Other times, she could be standing alone at the bus stop, and every one walks by without noticing her, and suddenly you are stopped in your tracks by her. I don't know what they call that. SOMETHING!

  • So, because Frank Sinatra said it was the best love song, then.. it is so? Alright, so its melody is of course, really something... but, am I the only one that doesn't think the words say all that much? "Will my love grow -- I don't know" ?? If "you stick around now, it MAY show" .... "I don't know" that either. I suppose real love has no real definition to its feelings... no, I mean, really. Guess I'm missing.. something.

  • Pattie may have a pretty face, but she sure looks like " Twiggy " at 0:31 !

  • Ugh. George didn't deserve having to put up with all of her crap. He didn't write Something about her, either.

(It's 4 in the morning. I'll regret this comment later, but I have to get my opinions out about the blonde bitch.)

  • When George said he was thinking of Ray Charles, he meant Ray Charles would be much better singing it than George. He was referring to Ray as a fellow recording artist. Patti is a lovely woman and in her book she was very honest about George and Eric Clapton. Both men cheated on her and hurt her but she doesn't hold a grudge. Eric said she is Layla and he wrote "You Look Wonderful Tonight" for her as well. She'd have no reason to lie about George saying he wrote "Something" for her.

  • In her autobiography Wonderful Today, Harrison's former wife Pattie Boyd claimed the song was written about her. Harrison downplayed the sentiment, saying it was, in fact, written with Ray Charles in mind.

"When I wrote it, I imagined somebody like Ray Charles doing it. That's the feel I imagined, but because I'm not Ray Charles, you know, I'm sort of much more limited in what I can do, then it came out like this. It's nice. It's probably the nicest melody tune that I've written."

  • She must be quite the inspirtation.. George writes "Something" for her.. and Eric writes "Lala" amazing really

  • Such a beautiful couple :) ♥♥ Pattie's really really really pretty. im jealous :/ George was a beautiful man(: I get if 'Something' wasn't written for pattie considering the many comments on here are about "this was written for Pattie" or "george was thinking of Ray Charles." but wouldn't it make more sense for him to write it for her? She was his wife at the time. and it keeps saying "something in the way SHE moves" and everything. i don't know. it just doesn't make sense to me :/

  • One of my favorite songs by the Beatles i wish george wrote it for me 

  • OH! LUCKY GIRL!!

  • I personally don't think Pattie even deserves to have this song written about her after what she did to George. She cheated on him, therefore she doesn't deserve it.

But I suppose if she really is remorseful, it's okay. It still doesn't make what she did right, though. Not in any sense.

  • @jadaskylar Sorry you have it ALL wrong. She left him because he cheat on her and said to Maureen (Ringo's wife at the time) "I love you" in front of Ringo and Pattie. He cheat on her numerous times and that last time she got fed up and broke up with him. Please get your facts straight!

  • @TheBeatlesavedmusic yes, you're right, he cheated on Patti many times and yes with Ringo's wife. They must have been very young and immature, too immature for a marriage. I think by the time he met Olivia he was ready for a committed relationship and it lasted till he died. When you listen to him speak about Olivia you can hear the love in his voice.......he must have loved Olivia very much.

  • She sounds remorseful, as I would.

  • I love this song so much, and I love George so much. So I think it's the most beautiful love song ever written:) and I've to thank Pattie, because she's a muse! <3

  • George said in an interview that he was thinking of Ray Charles when he wrote it.

  • george must have said a thousand times that it wasnt about pattie why would you believe her and not him?

  • George said he didnt write something for her. he said it was after a frank sinatra song?

  • gosh if it was me, i would have been so disappointed and sad for the rest of my life :( i mean, think about it! your man write one of the most beautiful song and when we listen it we imagine he's thinkin of of a lady, probably his wife! then the world believes it's his wife, and she believes it's for her, while actually it's not!

i don't what i would have done, if the world thought it's for me, but i would have lied to keep the legend of the song, like she doing in this interview, sad indeed ;(

  • I read a book about him, and he said he'd written it about Krishna, not Pattie.

  • In a 1996 interview he responded to the question of whether the song was about Pattie: "Well no, I didn't write it about her. I just wrote it, and then somebody put together a video. And what they did was they went out and got some footage of me and Pattie, Paul and Linda, Ringo and Maureen, it was at that time, and John and Yoko and they just made up a little video to go with it. So then, everybody presumed I wrote it about Pattie, but actually, when I wrote it, I was thinking of Ray Charles.

  • @delilah974 Like he really remembers anything from that time period with all the drugs going on. Why would Pattie lie like that. He probably didn't want to embarrass his then wife at the time.

  • @holycow92883 Thats rude.

  • hey in 1:20 , she looks like Taylor Swift there' . =)

    such a very lovely girl,.

  • @bubblysmilesify But much less creepy, lol

  • @Incredible43 haha!

  • "I write it for you!" well, Harrison explained numerous times that it wasn't about Patti.

  • That lucky bitch.

  • Btw. i don't really belive george if he sad that "something" isn't about pattie !!!

First it was. But then they slit up and george didn't want that to be aout her anymore if u say so !

  • very nice that Patti was honoured and moved deeply by this song by George i know he says numerous times it wasnt written about Pattie but i say he knew it was written about her because he loved her and she loved him but thats my opinion

  • Wow. This is really interesting. Cool to hear her. I teach this song to my students studying English. I may use this in class.

    Thanks for the upload!

  • Pattie belongs to this past,to da past...she was just Da scandal

OLIVIA WAS DA WIFE...23 STRAIGHT YEARS TOGETHER...EAT THAT PATTIE!!

  • Comment removed

  • George IS the AUTHOR of this song and he has said many times it WASN'T FOR HER,why the hell people thinks it's for Pattie?......

  • @kickassfan Did George say who it was for? Just curious, that's all.

  • @crapple009 yes he said he wrote it for Ray Charles to record it,people thinks is for Pattie which is NOT.

  • @kickassfan Thanks for that info- he should've written it for Frank Sinatra, as ol' Blue Eyes really loved/ raved about that song.

  • Apparently Pattie Boyd never realized what she had until it was gone. Anyone bother to ask Olivia what her opinion on the whole episode/song was? Pattie Boyd sounds like a bit of dip...why did she and George Harrison divorce? The Impression I'm getting,is that according to Pattie..it was just one big yawnfest, what with being with either George or Eric Clapton...."yawn on Pattie" .Looks fade, but stupid is forever.

  • @snowy16100 They divorced because during their marriage they sort of drifted apart. I love them both but in my opinion the divorce was as machh George's fault as it was Pattie's.

Pattie was a really nice person and she loved them both, and still remained friends with them, so I really don't think it was an "appreciation" matter.

  • Well this is depressing..

  • lsd george > heroin clapton. what was she thinking

  • Pattie is a fool for giving up George. I'd give anything-anything in the world to even spend a hour with him.

  • @RingoTheBeatles101 EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!:)

  • @RingoTheBeatles101 She was lucky. Can you believe the first time he asked her out she said No?

  • @RingoTheBeatles101 He basically neglected her needs in favour of his devotion/ meditation to Hare Krishna movement. Apparently there was a bit of infidelity on his part going on, too. So technically, it was George who drifted away first.

  • @RingoTheBeatles101 But do you know what he did to her? The way he treated her?

  • Pattie is so lucky- having 2 great musicians writing songs about her and being married to 2

  • @4FabBEATLES being married and divorced 2. i don't know if it was luck, but more about genetics. she was fine peice of ass, besides that gap between her teef..

  • @4FabBEATLES I don't know about that-they both cheated. It's almost as if once the challenge was gone, and they felt they possessed her, it's no longer exciting.

  • This song always makes me melt. Patti was very blessed to be married to George and have such a beautiful song written about her. Despite the fact that their marriage ended badly, with both of them having affairs, they became friends and straightened things out later on in life. In the midst of their divorce and affairs is when George said he didn't write it for her. IMO, he DID originally write it for her, but when going through a divorce are you really gonna admit that you were truly in love??

  • kkkk

  • This song was written for Krishna. He changed the 'He' to 'She' for the recording because he "didn't want to sound like a poofter"

  • @binybutton no offense but that sounds like a crock of shit. What about the line " I don't need no other lover"....is THAT about Krishna...I think not. I believe it's about Patti

  • @drummerkid71 No offense taken. Read 'Here comes the Sun - the musical and spiritual journey of George Harrison' He said this in an interview with the biographer, who was also a personal friend of his. I take the 'lover' part of the song to refer of the suduction that the religion had on him. Even in The Bible, God refers to Himself as a lover.

  • @binybutton I can totally see your point here. But when I hear "something in the way she moves"..... did he change the lyric or does he believe God is a "she"?... you know what I mean?

  • Andddd sooooo after George Harrison, the sexiest beast alive, writes one of the sweetest, most beautiful, love ballads of all time, and you go fuck eric clapton while still married to him... yeah, uh... Patti... I don't get your logic. XD

  • @EvelKinevelable well, george did fuck ringo's wife mo first...

  • @EvelKinevelable George was having an affair with Ringo's wife, Maureen quite some time before she gave up on George.

Ever wonder why Ringo divorced Maureen? Bingo- you got it!

  • SHE IS A LOOSER!

    GEORGE?=?eric

  • Ofcourse he's going to tell his mrs that the song is about her.

  • George has said numerous times that this song wasn't written about Pattie, though, I'd like to think so too :)

But, he has said that everyone thinks that it's about her, even her, but it really isn't.

  • @iamkiller Exactly!! Said if he was thinking of anyone when he wrote this song it was Ray Charles...as he had him in mind for singing it!

  • @iamkiller In an interview he stated it was about ray charles.. believe it or not. i wonder if he was claiming it wasnt about patti when they were together?

  • @iamkiller Can u lenk some interveiw that he sad that ?? :)

Just fun to know ya know ---.......

  • @swegirl1000 I saw it in an interview that he did with Eric Clapton in Japan. There were other times I read interviews and such but I can't remember where, sorry.

  • @iamkiller But she said that george told her the song was for her

  • @verilu97 Yeah, and he said it wasn't. Honestly, I'm sure he expected everyone to believe it was about her. So he went with it at first.. but he wrote the song in 1969, which is really the first year that they were breaking up. He openly had an affair in January 1969 (he recorded and wrote the song on his birthday, Feb 25, 1969) and Pattie left him for that month. Maybe he wrote it truly from the heart once she came back to him but who knows. He said it isn't about her.

  • @iamkiller George wrote the song for an Indian god, and after a little while he decided to change it to be about Pattie. But later on in life he would say it wasn't about her.

  • Not only was this song written about her but also Eric Clapton's song Layla!

  • What a wonderful commentary by Pattie. A great song with a magnificient vocal by George and a kick ass bass line by Paul.

  • Man, I love "Something". It's the best song ever written by George Harrison.

  • George the writer SAID WITH HIS OWN MOUTH THAT HE DIDNT WROTE IT FOR HER.Why the hell people still believ Pattie?...I mean he theWRITER AND HUSBAND AT THE TIME SAID IT WAS NOT FOR HER..

  • ha its funny you just sound like a jealous wannabe. you are no fan of George, if you were, you would respect the women he loved!!!!

  • BeatlesGirlz allI meant was the truth,I respect HIS OPINION rather than her that she just wont admit it,she may have her reasons,Im standing by his reasons,is it so hard to understand for u and ur "girlie"mind?.

  • my "girlie mind" ??? what is THAT supposed to mean???

  • I love, love, love Patty Boyd. She is awesome. Thank you Patty, for inspiring George to write such a beautiful song. When I play it or hear it on the radio, it brings back some beautiful memories of that time in my life.

  • didnt george harrison say that he didnt write it for her?

  • @SirBrianCabrera --Yes, In Georges Autobio "I,Me,Mine" he said "Something" was origionally created for Krishna, and the origional lyric was "something in the way he moves attracts me like a pomegranate"- but he didnt want the lyrics to sound basically like he was gay, [even though he was talking about his god], he changed the lyrics to "she moves' maybe then he thought 'this reminds me of pattie' but origionally George created this song for Krishna

    read the book its great!

  • It seems that Patti looks almost like a different woman in their honeymoon pics...does anyone agree? she looks Asian-but these are some of my fave pics of her. I am green with envy of this woman.

  • pattie boyd is so hot

  • Comment removed

  • i am not sure

  • ur username says 3 pairs of underwear- i don't think anybody can tell u meant it.

  • Strong British accent. I love it! :)

  • Yeah, really strong!

  • George honoured Patti with this song - greatly honoured her. She should always hold her head high because she inspired such love.

  • @zephyrquartz Patti was nothing but a skank who was passed around from friend to friend! Its upsetting to me that this pig is here left to talk about "something", not George. Geroge is 2nd wife was much better of a catch than this ho!

  • @mcasa09 Obviously you don't know enough about either of them or their marriage to come to that conclusion.

  • @mcasa09 Ouch.

  • you're an idiot lol

  • Awesome. :D
