DementedXShenzi yr comments to relating this song (leaky faucet in an asian family's apartment) is great...i agree also one flicking tube light hanging on the wall in the living room.
is it me or is Nearly God the weirdest (in a good way) album ever. Listen to the lyrics, i mean they makes sense in primortal ways that would usually entail many many lines of lyrics to express, (obviously not necessarily the covers). nobody but Tricky can pull this stuff off. Even pulling out a Billie Holliday song, who does that
as a black man who is not burdened with the blatant stereotypes that most of my community embraces I find this track more than emotionally pleasing, it's a statement that most should take to heart, especially in today's growing world.
My stupid ex boyfriend would hear this playing in the car when Id come from work and thought it was devil music. Stupid Nigger ears (just a figure of speech referring to a Black person that can only hear rap and r&b) This shit is dope
@OfHeartOfSoul Amen to that. Tricky has done some amazing work, but in general (perhaps with the exception of Maxinquaye, and maybe a couple of others) his albums are all over the place. "Nearly God" feels like the album that could have almost matched or beaten Maxinquaye if he'd spent longer working on it.

this song makes me think of getting of the subway, walking through the city to a crappy apartment, and an abusive childhood...

Maxinquaye was 10x better but Nearly god is classic tricky avant garde

I recognise the rap vocals used in the beginning, they're Das EFX from the song ''Dedicated''.

@DementedXShenzi
That fact that you specified it was an Asian apartment makes that hilarious.

Love this and Tattoo. I love the industrial, twisted, deformed funky darkness he has in some of these tracks
