  • ive heard this song this song is on a popular movie but can;t remember which one. does anyone know which one it is?

  • i feel like this is a moment i will never forget

  • i just think of chaotic battle with this song, as the forces of good loses and retreats leaving the broken dying comrades to they're fate. And as the lone survivor looks into the distance, he sees the helicopters of the men that left him behind. So sad when i think about it

  • i love 1:12 to 1:40

  • 1986 charlie sheen's movie PLATOON lands me here

  • Great song, but god is not real so stop talking gay !!

  • Why is everybody arguing? Just listen to the music! I agree with Protheeus and think he is right but now every troll on the internet is going to come at me saying "Why do you agree with him".Just listen to the music and dont be a cruel and spiteful person.

  • @TheSquareGamers thanks for supporting my opinion. I agree: my comment probably make me look an unrealistic whiner; but I just wanted to say that we can live in peace with each other, provided that everybody play the games.

Then people can think what they want to believe, and I force nobody to be agree with my point of view. As TheSquareGamers said, if you're not interested by these discussions, just close you eyes and listen to that beautiful adagio.

  • @Protheeus I assure you and the filths who've been attacking you.It is people like you who make the bravest fighters when it's all about to end.I should know well.I witnessed it when a thug attacked me last week, claiming my dignity and life.He took the beating of his lifetime. One who has virtue has bravery.Oh yeah you sick filths!accompanied by your sickening comments.Hear me all you scums out there..Evil and scums ALWAYS fall in the end.ALWAYS.My friend. You are a warrior, if I've ever seen one

  • This music is soo beautiful, wonderful...I love it!! I am a 13 years old girl, then am I idiot? :)

  • Its not a fucking poem, its a bit of text found underneath some wallpaper in a church in New England, does it sound like a fucking poem??

  • @andyguitar99 cool comment. lost on most people though :)

  • @andyguitar99 Hi how are you forgot to take your Paxil?

  • @andyguitar99 You can verbally assault me if you want I dont mind, nooooowww go ahead don't hold back say all those nasty things you want to say so badly. Some F you and F you some more and bad things about my mother and that god does not exist. Wasn't that refreshing, we should do that again some times. Tommorow at 10?

  • Ah, I finally found it! I heard this in an episode of American Dad and I didn't know the name of the piece. But when looking at a list of famous pieces of music, I found it. I'm so glad, it's a wonderful piece. :)

  • I was just watching bbc news and they was talking about music that makes you feel good. I thought of this song turned the tv of found my I pad and sat and listened to this amazing song and smiled

  • @Tweeklet I feel guilty. You must have put some effort into the visuals on this vid but . . . most of the time my eyes were closed. :-)

  • im sorry ted. we have to drink. it's part of the game...

  • @Bulk02 what's that from?

  • @cbappa2 from How i met your mother. season 5 episode "jenkins"

  • I think that there are alot of youngsters because this piece was played in a film called "Kevin and perry go large", all be it a dub dub dub version (they basically killed this piece). When they find out that this is the proper piece, they dont like it. What a bunch of loosers who cant appreciate a rel musical masterpiece!

    freefishkeeping(dot)co(dot)uk

  • @2009thunderpants Who says the younger generation doesn't like it? I'm sitting here listening to it aren't I? As I do every evening before I go to sleep. I've heard the countless remixes of this song and many others like it, and while I can get into them, it's the original version that inspires me the most. It amazes me that a human being.. as vile and hopeless as some of us are, came up with this beautiful and enchanting song. Please think before judging an entire generation..

  • @xXxDjShamblesxXx Did i say that it was every youngster? No "I think that there are alot of...." While i agree with most of what you have said, I kindly ask you to not go twisting my words.

    freefishkeeping(dot)co(dot)uk

  • I'm 17 and I love it.

  • the emotions brought through with this music are amazing, it lets you stop for a while and enjoy the beauty all around you

  • Seriously! Who comes to this song to dislike it?!! surely you know what your going to get when you search for it/click on it !!!??

  • beautiful music

  • Such a lovely piece of music, i could listen to this for hours on end. Can anyone suggest some similar pieces to listen too?

    freefishkeeping(dot)co(dot)uk

  • Is it the theme song of mankind (wwf) ??

  • one without dad thanx

  • Favourite piece of music ever.

  • @donvadon go fuck yourself with an unborn baby

  • @Ln192 why u so mad?

  • @Ln192 whats your problem?

  • @donvadon sounds awesome

  • Amazing

  • i love american music

  • Well, Barber's Adagio usually gets me, but the poetry really did it this time.

  • Fags

  • @Rustmarine You're the one who wants to be a marine. I think it's more decent to reflect on music like this than to run about killing people.

  • @SuperCactusman hey hey hey fuck off don't you talk shit about my brothers

  • @SuperCactusman

Lol, who cares about him... Hes listing to Eminem , omg hes so cool hes listing to Eminem , yo yo fuck life fuck this shit fuck shit <Eminem lol !!!!

  • Every time I listen to that wonderful music, I dream...

I dream that laymen, Orthodoxes, Catholics, Protestants, Sunnis, Shi'ites, Jews, Hindus, Taoists, buddhists and believers of the other African, American and Asian Religions apologize to each other for the crimes of their ancestors,

I dream that they agree to tolerate other believes, to not force the others to believe like them,

I dream that they mutually shake hands,

I dream that they believe and live in peace,

    And I burst into tears

  • @Protheeus that is beautiful :')

  • @lanceavant1 Thank you! :)

  • @Protheeus Do you really 'burst into tears'? Because that's kinda funny.

  • @kevo9999 When you listen to that music, when you hope so much from the Humanity, and when you see what our race is doing... yes, I really cry T_T

  • @kevo9999 You are a fag

  • @Protheeus <3

  • @Protheeus I dream that religion is eradicated along with greed and lust, war and murder, hate and despair and an age of enlightenment is achieved, then I wake up get dressed and head off for school leaving my fantasies behind me and putting Max here's words into practice.

  • @Protheeus one of the most beautiful comments I've ever seen posted on youtube.

  • @0307nik Thank you very much! I'm glad that you like it... and that you (maybe) agree with my point of view.

  • @Protheeus Yes, I too would prefer a world of true, real and absolute peace over the one I live in

  • @Protheeus

You are a depressing idiot, if your country went to war you would lose, if your best mate stole your girlfriend you would accept it, if someone stole your car you would thank them, there is no virtue in being a sad loser who bursts into tears (unless you are on Maury trying to find out if the 10th bloke you have brought on the show is your kids dad)

  • @Protheeus Well said.

  • @Peteblackaussieboy Thanks!

  • @Peteblackaussieboy Thank you :)

  • @Protheeus Many of us share your beautiful dream. Let's all keep dreaming, and one day It won't be a dream anymore... :)

  • @Protheeus Honoured, truly honoured to see comments posted on youtube by an individual such as youreslf. You are brave.

  • I've always imagined that this would be something I'd hear on the way home from war. This was something I thought even before I saw Platoon. That made this song really stick with me.

  • I really needed this to come into my life right now. The words and the music. Thank you.

  • I've recently broken up with someone who I've shared the past 5years with..I knew of this piece of music but didn't anticipate the poem written..I want so much for my 'friend' to listen..to read..to make head an tail of what has happened between us recently..which has finished in the most regrettable manner..somewhere deep inside I feel there must be something deep inside that can be reached..but all bridges seem to be burnt..left with questions that fill the mind..unanswered

  • @TheUtubewala Man this time last year I was in the same place you are now, and it does look bleak and as if theres no future for you but trust me it gets easier, you just have to take it one day at a time and eventually it'll get easier, you won't forget them and they will always have a place in your mind and your heart but you'll get there, life moves on and it'll take you with it, you just have to let it, I know it hurts and it seems impossible but I promise you you'll get through this. sorry.

  • @Paul0205 ...thank you..

  • beatifull i cry!!!! thank you for this!!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing what good music can do for the soul.

  • I watched battlefield 3 than I found this song ♥ I love it !

  • OMG finally I found this melody!

I heard it in so many shows and series in the background :D

    I love it!

  • @MandyLane01 i kno wat u mean. ITs one of those famous pieces of music u hear all the time but never know the name

  • all teenagers are mutant and immature

they should be put in genetic maturation pods before being released

  • ehh didn't really like the tiesto version as much as this one...

  • this musical piece shows the true human inside of us

  • I'm in the deep part of YouTube....

Knew it had to exist somewhere!!

  • this is the most beautiful piece ive ever heard.. and i'm an unborn fetus

  • This song is beautiful. <3 one of my favorite masterpieces. And I am 14...

  • @SikoJohnnyJr Stop trying to get attention for your age.

  • @firefox373 Sorry. I didn't know that trying to break the stereotype that all teenagers are "mutants" and "immature beings" was a bad thing. I guess the stereotype that adults can see that teenagers aren't somehow "allowed" to take in the beauty of the world around them is still true? Sir, that is your problem.

  • Comment removed

  • @SikoJohnnyJr please stop. you're just broadcasting your immaturity. truly, you are 14.

  • @joshxxt Wow, talk about taking shit way too serious. He's right about stereotypes so chill, and I'm 20.

  • @joshxxt See? This is what happens when 14 years old speak their true hearts. This is why 14 year olds choose not to be like adults. Because people like you criticize them...

  • @SikoJohnnyJr damn dude im sorry your life must be so difficult being 14 and all.. because you're 14 and all. so misunderstood being 14 and what not.

  • @joshxxt Whether that's sarcasm or not, it's extremely difficult. Not because I"m 14, but because I'm 14 with a unique mind. What you have scolded me for proves just a minuscule amount of what I have to suffer through. I'm not criticizing you for what you did; rather using you as an example. Although I'm14, I want you to remember me and the fact that not all teenagers my age are the same.

    Not me. At least. c;

  • @SikoJohnnyJr Jesus your more mature than me and I'm a fair bit older than you. Well done man :)

  • @Paul0205 Hahah thanks, I guess. :p

  • @joshxxt I am 14and I dont see how @SikoJohnnyJr is being immature stop trying to bully kids and GET A LIFE OF YOUR OWN!!! YOU SAD DEFORMED LIFEFORM!!!

  • @SikoJohnnyJr Son your comment there shows your maturity, clearly you are not a mutant :)

  • @Paul0205 Thank you! c:

  • @SikoJohnnyJr It's not at all. Just the fact that so many teenagers go "HURR DURR I'M 13 AND I LOVE MOZURT XD" on every video that's annoying. The beautiful thing about music such as this is that anyone can enjoy it. Therefore, there's no need to tell us how old you are.

  • @LucUltra Lol well I didn't go "HURR DURR I LOVE STRINGY STUFF HEHEHE". And I just wanted to get my point across that certain teens can enjoy music like this, and not all rap, hiphop, heavy metal, and stuff like that lol. :p

  • This song is one of the best ever written in my opinion.

  • Thank you so much for bringing all four of these works together.

  • the wonder of conteporanean in classic music. So beatiful...

  • YAY I found it by searching "whats was the name of the sad song that played on the simpsons little orphan millie"...yay its long.

  • Tiësto is God, he is the one that has madeit possible for this melody is still alive in the youth

  • @1504245 No he isn't. Try deep, psychedelic and euphoric music. @thehunterdangerous he's a DJ, he should have popularised the original if he wanted to do that not some migraine-provoking dull beat club-trance trash made on his home computer.

  • @RuskoVEVO I do not agree but I respect your opinion

  • @thehunterdangerous I find your channel amusing. You clearly don't listen to much other music to Tiesto so I doubt you know much about music whatsoever. So your argument is invalid.

  • @RuskoVEVO which is just wrong is you,

  • @thehunterdangerous Samuel barber is a man who write this song NOT "Tiësto"

if you came here to compare two melodies, than you dont undestand.....

  • @DenienN I have not bought, let alone, all you've said has been said that Tiësto has helped make this song by Samuel Barber is best known, and continue to live among a sector that did not know, perhaps the play this song remastered Tiësto at the ceremony for the 2004 Olympic does not give more credit to this composition? I think so.

  • @thehunterdangerous and am not, end of story

  • Tiesto is bullshit!

  • Fuck Tiesto

  • @RuskoVEVO he's great when you're high.

  • In less than five months, I will be laid to rest, and while my family, my friends are mourning, this shall be played, to warm their hearts, their minds, to remind them that life doesn't end with my death.

  • @LoveLifeRun How do you know your going to die in less then five months?

  • This is one of the few places in YouTube where all of the comments aren't completely moronic.

  • Each time I heard that music, tears appears on my eyes.

  • my heart has been cheated broken and over worked but some how it still works

  • and i am changing the fortunes of times - star child

  • Pour toi mon Papi, jamais je ne t'oublierai. Tu me manques

  • Kharak is burning. ;_;

  • YVELAZE MAGARI RAM RAC KI ODESME MOMISMENIA. VIVA MAESTRO.

  • I am here cause I watched seinfeld Season 8 episode 6 :D Frank Costanza visualizing the past as his fellow soldiers get sick from his cooking :D

  • This is the saddest music I've ever heard...so deeply touching...

  • My brother was buried to this song

  • @zayneztv

I can't 'like' your comment. I just can't... I can't imagine how it feels to lose a brother.

  • @zayneztv I feel your pain, and he had a good send off. Wherever his soul is, he is listening to a masterpiece and is proud of the sending off. May the beauty of the music, always remind you of the good times you had.

  • Platoon 1986!!!

  • I've stared long and hard into the foreboding and unrelenting gaze of truth. To me this song is about what we all have lost. I have grown and lost my innocence; to this song I have found nothing inside truth but empty answers, results which are neither interesting nor existentially satisfying.

  • @L4MD4 Neitzsche's abyss gazing back at you may be demoralizing, but it is NOT truth. It's only a reflection of your own fears, masquerading as truth. Your feelings of emptiness and loss are not the fault of the universe, which is infinitely wondrous and miraculous, but the fault of your own self-limitation. Stop trying to figure it all out. It is as it should be. To celebrate the miracle of life, to help others along the way, and most of all, to love, is all you'll ever really need to know.

  • While I was listening to this, an idea struck my mind. FOOLPROOF IDEA to save humanity..

Then the song ended, sorry guys.. I guess we will have to die killing each other.

  • My techer died 2 days ago such ashame im gnna miss her she was a great teacher and a great friend r.i.p this song reminds me of her

  • @TheHezza9 wow that sucks how old was she?

  • And remember only the good die young! Thumbs up if you get it!

  • es un poema que nace del corazon ,que alegria dar saber que hay personas que piensan que la paz del alma es DIOS EL CREADOR DE LOS CIELOS Y LA TIERRA .salvacion de nuestras almas CRISTO JESUS .

  • i believe this was used for the anne frank miniseries that come out in 2002 or the Shindler's list movie

  • this is way better than tiesto's version...if you really appreciate music :D

  • @rowdy8888

This song was created quite a bit before platoon but yes it did make an appearance in that 1986 classic.

  • ¡¡Espectacular!!

  • Platoon... 1986

  • One of the most beautiful pieces I've ever heard

  • the type of music directors add in the background of a shootout ..

  • I believe there are 86 people who thinks that Tiesto version is the original and this is a bad cover.

  • A brief list. Alex Jones for great guests. Zero Hedge for Economics, Ice Age Now for the Global Warming myth, Before it's News for alternative media, Max Keiser and Marc Faber for more economic realism (Forget Paul Krugman et cie) Webster Tarpley on GCN live archived is a must for anyone who wants a proper reality principle in terms of the wider current geopolitical situation. He brings an amazing historical context to the proceedings. I confess to having all his books. Thanks.

  • The elitist malthusian oligarchs are choking the life out of this world as they create one in their own image. A NEW WORLD ORDER that inexorably continues around us through the policies of the acquiescent politicians and anti human behemoths such as the United Nations, foundation funded environMENTALS, THE Bill and Melinda Gates Population Reduction Program, the funded proxy wars killing millions in the name of naked greed. It's all REAL whether you choose to believe it or not. WAKE THE FUCK UP!

  • Pure genius

  • beauty in simplicity... amazing

  • I came here from Tiesto, and I can honestly say I find this a better version!

  • this video just saved my life.

  • Absolutely stunning. If you want to hear just as beautiful a piece matched by an incredible video of our incredible earth and nature, watch "Whisper of a thrill" composed by Thomas Newman who's an absolute genius uploaded by user Harcenco - It will take your breath away. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

  • I regularly come back and listen to this because it pulls at my heart in such a strong, emotional way - I have to come back. I have to listen to the music that makes me feel so many tender emotions.

  • Look at the beauty of life. Both comments that are top rated are true ! Yet they are totally opposite.

  • One of my favorite pieces of music, with something we all should live by. If we all did you would actually see the world change around you.

  • according to me this music expresses the mood when in a calm state of mind we are thinking about the sweet and bitter things our life gives us

  • Jon Lord (ex Deep Purple) loved to play it live! thank you, great great moment of peaceful

  • wishy washy subtitles, but music is very relaxing and beautiful

  • (please dont cry, please dont cry, please dont....shit)

  • amazing ? no ... this is music for the soul ... greetings from romania

  • Go out on the streets tonight and give one person a blanket. Winter restrains our everyday chores but it kills the homeless. Do one good thing every day. Even one. We do not have to wait for governments to act in our name. They will act in their own interests. They always have. Everybody thinks of changing the world but who thinks of changing themselves ?

  • @Ringadoon well said my friend, well said.

  • @Ringadoon

You know what's funny? Liberals will always tell you we need governments to help the poor.

  • @Ringadoon

Well said my brother/sister..... well said

  • @Ringadoon who gives a fuck about the homeless people ?

  • @Mahegunn just decent human beings

  • @Mahegunn heartless bastard.

  • @Ringadoon I do but changing the world by myself? I don't have that power and I will never have,...

  • I am 17.I listen to rap.

But this is a masterpiece.there are no words that i can use for this.

Gives me lots of pictures in my mind.truly.masterpece.

  • To jffryh: Everyone deserves a second chance, even nations and this world AND you, but you need God's help whether you believe it or not. One volcano eruption spews more pollution than all the cars in the world. Surely we can enjoy listening to Adagio for Strings without attaching some doomsday meaning to it. It is a work of beauty. I hope you find some beauty somewhere. Just keep looking.

  • samuel barber has won his honor to stand side those like mozart
