I am using the same grid tie inverter for my wind turbine. However, my wind turbine ( treadmill motor ) is only generating around 5-10 volts, very rarely it reaches 12 volts perhaps when there's gusty wind.. Is 5-8 volts can then make a difference to my electrical consumption or I've just wasted my money?
If the divert load is connected to a charge controller and then to a battery bank wouldnt that work for power outages and your not wasting energy to the resister dump, you could then connect your charge control dump to a resister for back up if batteries are charged to high?
Hey Jeff - I'm really interested in the 1000 watt "Plug and Play" system on your website that has the 2 500 watt inverters. What would the max AC Amp output be out of the inverters?
@BluThoth You can get them anywhere you find circuit breakers, fuse boxes. like at home depot, lowes etc. in the electrical dept. they come in all different lenghts.
Sorry the above question is kind of hard to understand. Lets says the AC power goes out and the inverter disconnects (island protection). Will the dump load work even though inverter is off line? Or does this only happen when the turbin overspeeds & inverter has AC? Thanks for all the info, your videos really help.

@teddydogification Treadmillb motors are virtually useless.

@jimmy6tall2 You could do that.

i think what everybody is trying to find out is if ac power is cut does the turbine just spin flat out or will it brake the pma
caravanman08 11 months ago
@caravanman08 it will brake the turbine

What kind of a busbar did you use?

I was wondering when they'd make one for wind turbines. I just love th fact it shuts downs when no wind, nice info vid and Merry Christmas Jeff.

When the AC is off do the turbine brake or do it run free

@MrWindnut
the inverter disconnects. when the turbines spins up it will divert to the dump load resisters causing it to brake
