  • Like Make Buraucracy History on faceboom to make a small stand against the system!!!

  • I didn't see this video as a way to get back at all. I saw this video as someone holding up a mirror reflecting the face of bureaucracy

hmm..wondering if there is a way to get 10,000 pennies.

  • I am very proud of you two for making this video and standing up for this. The DMV (BMV) is the epitome of why this country isn't a democracy. This bureau has taken advantage of me these past two years and have caused me much grief. It has infringed on my right of freedom as an individual (because private transportation is a necessity despite what the DMV says about it being a priviledge). I need to drive for college and work. You're awesome. I'm surprised the Gov. hasn't removed this btw.

  • No offense, but you two were just adding more bureaucracy to the already existent one. More of the same, let's say. I understand that one can get upset sometimes, but I think it would be more useful to ask to talk to the director of that service. Cheers

  • Wow!

  • Its because of idiots like you, that bureaucracy seems like a bad idea. In the time that it took your dumb asses to count that money, some other person could have been helped. The DMV has a website that tells you what documents you need to bring with you, its standard procedure by now. Amongst other things, its the most effective way to keep records so that when idiots like you lose important documents, you wont have to start over again by taking the drivers test....

  • Are you kidding me? The U.S. Postal service is one of the best in the world, if not THE best. It is hard to imagine the amount of paper they manage every day. Please tell me the evidence you have pointing to it's colossal failure outside of "long lines some days". You don't know what my opinion is, other than I think your way of going about this is silly. I don't really understand the presumption that you do. What extortion for the privilege of road use? You mean the money that maintains them?

  • @TheDt19 To continue that, are you calling taxes "extortion"? Because if you don't see the point in taxes then we can't have a reasoned conversation about this.

  • @TheDt19 I understand what you think taxes are for, but taking money from me to pay for "services" I abhor (war, welfare, and corporate and/or social subsidy) is theft with the implicit threat of violence.

  • @jeneenicole What? What "I think they're for"? You think they're for that to, clearly. So does everyone else who has even the smallest idea what the reasoning behind taxing is. So if a huge portion of our population thinks tax income going to schools is bad that should just stop? Also, you abhor welfare? What kind of a person are you? Saying, "I love having police and fire fighters, but I don't like some things our government does, so taxes are evil!" is childish.

  • @TheDt19 too*

  • @TheDt19 you must work for the USPS(a pension provider that delivers mail on the side). 1)Have you ever heard of Charity? While I am not Mormon, they have a fantastic system of VOLUNTARY social services. 2) Yes, the majority of the population is wrong to think it's okay to take money from people who do not send their children to public schools (or don't have children at all for that matter.)

  • @jeneenicole So if it isn't volunteer it is a horrible monstrosity? Now you're essentially arguing against our entire economic system. Which is fine, if that's what you want to do. But there is a reason that police are paid, or fire fighters, or mail carriers, or teachers. These are jobs that need to be done, if you are actually suggesting that people do these jobs without compensation then I don't know what to tell you. Unfortunately we don't live in a world where this is possible.

  • @TheDt19 You're not making the distinction at all are you? let me make this simple for you: police, firefighters, mail carriers, and teachers should be compensated by the people who use their services ONLY. The same way the local grocery store checker, waiter/waitress, plumber, electrician, and garbage collector get paid. Why is this such a hard concept for you to grasp?

  • @jeneenicole It is a ridiculous concept to grasp, ignoring the fact that up until the last decade 99% of the population used the mail carrying service, by your logic only people who lose their homes in a fire or get robbed/assaulted etc, should pay the fire departments and police. Ensuring that both of those systems would be crippled by not having any money at all. The payments to both to even keep them possibly running would be much greater to each individual. Also, libertarianism is stupid.

  • @TheDt19 I would certainly love to pay for police services which I use, in say a subscription fashion. Such as say, insurance. I don't know why you think they would not have any money, they provide a valuable service people are willing to pay for. Key word here: willing. Willing to pay for officers that are respectful, accountable and effective. And Libertarianism is stupid because it doesn't advocate public theft? You are exhibiting your ignorance blatantly now.

  • @jeneenicole So people who can't afford police protection just don't get it? Rich people get much better protection because they can afford more? (I am aware that rich people can get security, that isn't what this conversation is about) Homeless people don't get protection? Some months you may have to go without the police to get by paying your bills? I could go on and on about how that is hilariously divorced from the real world. The Libertarianism comment was partially a joke, but...

  • @TheDt19 Lets be honest here, true Libertarianism is something no one wants. That would require going back to something more basic than the articles of confederation, which clearly didn't and won't work in today's society.

  • @TheDt19 And for the record, I think there needs to be serious reform in police policy as well, they are far too militant and unaccountable. You cannot be both a public servant and authority. Is it out of your spectrum of thought to have private police and firefighting services? It's quite possible that the police would then treat citizens with respect and dignity.

  • @jeneenicole Police policy and public funds that get put into them are two different things. One barely had anything to do with the other. And your strange assertion that being an employee of the government makes you inherently more dishonest confuses me. We had private fire fighters before, how do you think that worked out? There is a reason why that sort of stuff is public. Public servants are by and large inherently authoritative. Elected officials are elected by the people to hold authority.

  • @TheDt19 Your comment doesn't make sense. 1) police aren't elected. 2) on what basis to you assert that police policy and public funding the latter are separate? How could they possibly be. Where have you seen private firefighters? Certainly not in the last 30 years. Why do you think private EMS services are faster and better equipped?

  • @jeneenicole You made an extremely broad statement about public servants, and then a broad statement about authority. Not all public servants are elected, and not all public servants are police. However, all people elected are public servants (unless I miss something) and have a measure of authority. You haven't seen private fire fighters in the last 30 years because people realized they didn't work when fire fighters would essentially hold people's homes hostage to gain more money.

  • @jeneenicole On what basis do you assert public funding and police policy are the same? You made the assumption, and questioning my response is in no way a defense of your original statement. The police are influenced by the public's wishes, but there is no evidence to suggest that they behave a certain way only because they receive public funds.

  • @TheDt19 Shame on me for not noticing earlier! You're just wasting my time. Public funding ensures their wages even if they do a poor job. direct funding from satisfied customers ensures FAR MORE responsiveness to the public's will. As it stands, laws are arbitrarily enforced at their discretion which continually violate individual rights and constitutionally guaranteed freedoms.the Constitution has by and large been trampled & the majority exerts their will even when they are wrong. Good day!

  • @jeneenicole You have absolutely no basis for that assertion at all. According to this line of thought anyone who gets paid privately immediately is a better worker than anyone who is paid by the government. For that matter, people who are paid salary are inherently worse workers than those who are paid hourly. This is a ridiculous argument to stand by for obvious reasons. Also, considering that I have refrained from much condescension, perhaps you could attempt to do the same?

  • @jeneenicole There will obviously always be problems, but saying "taxes are bad", or that "government is bad", or that "blank is blank" happens to be lazy thinking. Parts of things are problematic, and can be fixed. And how can you say "Have you ever heard of charity?" two minutes after decrying "welfare"?

  • @TheDt19 are you kidding ME?

I call $3.8 BILLION in operating losses a colossal failure, as reported BY the USPS!

  • @jeneenicole Which would obviously have nothing to do with the recession we're in and the wide-spread use of electronic alternatives across all industries. That's like pointing to any industry in the last three years and using their fiscal losses to call them a colossal failure. Lets ignore it's 200 year history. They still have upwards of 90% accuracy in on-time mail deliveries. You still haven't replied to what I said about taxes.

  • @TheDt19 Nevermind, you did. My bad. didn't see it.

  • @TheDt19 any other business would adapt to the changing environment to maintain profitability. You're argument blames people for choosing a better, faster alternative. Shame on those people for not wasting resources, indeed! Most people do not need their mail delivered everyday. And this recession was caused by psudo-government policy of the Federal reserve--giving financial institutions the incentive to make poor decisions.

  • @jeneenicole Point out where I assigned blame. I have no problem with people moving to a better alternative, it is inevitable and should happen. I was merely pointing out that it is silly to say, "Technological advances have rendered this system largely obsolete and thus it is a colossal failure after 200 years of service".

  • @TheDt19 YOu said, "Which would obviously have nothing to do with the recession we're in and the wide-spread use of electronic alternatives across all industries." I concede: you have made a fair point. The USPS is not like other obsolete products/services in that it continues to stick around. It should be like pay phones are to mobile phones.

  • @jeneenicole Which wasn't a complaint about the state of the industry, it was a commentary on your argument which was built on silly logic.

  • It fascinates me that you sympathize with these "workers." Am I really inconveniencing them? At least they got paid to put up with us. If those honest and "hard working" people ever thought about their contribution to society, they might actually give a crap about how much other peoples' time they waste. While we did this ONE time, you call me an asshole; but it is standard operation for the DPS to disrespect anyone not in official-issued costume. Citizen inconvenience happens EVERYDAY there.

  • He's right though. This isn't "Fighting the power", it's making the lives of the people working at the DMV that you bothered harder than necessary. If you are trying to make a point to a bureaucracy about its inefficiency it makes little sense to go bottom-up. The people at the bottom have as much a part in policy making as you do. Also, lets not turn this into a "Haha government sucks" discussion like some people are trying to. The Post Office is federal too.

  • @TheDt19 I agree that those workers have little or possibly no autonomy when it comes to policy setting, but they mindlessly enforce the asinine policies. They are in a much better position to make a change than we are. By law the state uses extortion for the privilege of road use, so who's actually being inconvenienced here? Opinions like yours result in such a system. btw, Post office = colossal failure. Given a choice, would you entrust the post office with life or death parcel delivery?

  • Wow you guys are assholes. Bureaucracy sucks, but it takes people to run it. People, not in the vague and nondescript "they" that you refer to them as, but hard-working, average, American people. You're not inconveniencing "The Man." You're inconveniencing fellow citizens, fellow humans. What a waste of time.

  • @thebrock82: Those "hardworking" (good enough for government work) people could have saved themselves the inconvenience by following their own bureaucratic rules. The DPS required 2 forms of ID, not 3. Don't expect another "fellow human", like myself, to accept the inconvenience without reciprocating. Now they know how it feels to have their time wasted for no good reason.

  • @thebrock82 : PS. I've never seen anyone working "hard" at the DMV -- and that doesn't seem to change regardless of city or state.

  • Sounds like you two are being assholes just to be assholes. Knowing everyone is waiting and forcing the two behind the desk (who in my opinion were very courteous) to count your coins just to make everyone wait that much longer. I'm happy you take such pride in inconveniencing everyone for a youtube video.

  • So they can inconvenience us, but when the tables turn on them, they can't take it.

  • wow, i can not wait until the government takes full control our healthcare.

  • I love what you did here. I totally agree with you. and $25 in pennies!!! that's just great!

  • Don't take it out on the workers, they're just doing their job. Just reminds me of the time a lady paid for a 2 dollar card where I work with a hundred dollar bill and I had barely any large bills in my drawer...unnecessary. Do it to my boss, NOT ME.

  • Do you realize they ask for 3 forms of ID because if you lose one somebody cant steal your life savings. Not to mention put you in debt and destroy your credit score. Not to mention that my mom was almost screwed out of 100$ before because some guy dumped a pile of change at her desk. You guys are a couple self-centered yuppies. Do you realize that some people dont like you to stick a camera in their face and try to get a reaction out of them?

  • You totally missed the point.

Let me break it down for you: Why do I need to show 3 forms of ID when I have a valid California driver's license (a gov't picture ID) and a military ID (another gov't picture ID). If I was trying to steal someone's identity, I could already do it with my TWO government picture IDs. I don't see how proving that I was BORN will help reduce this risk.

In summary, if these bureaucratic institutions want to unreasonably hassle me, then I'll do the same.

  • PS.

I'm sorry your mom almost got screwed out of $100 because of some guy dumping change on her desk. Although, I have no idea how that relates to this video, whatsoever.

  • I think these two are idiots. Don't get me wrong I totally agree with the point they were trying to make, and I agree with the DMV being a beurocratic mess. But these two were just pushing buttons. The DMV was willing to accept the money and simply asked that they roll it up, but they did not want to comply. Seems to me that they two in this video were hoping for a crappier outcome but did not get it.

  • bad ass guys good job. this crap has got to stop. I'm sick of big brother on my back every time i step outside my door. Keep on fighting! I love the term civil disobedience!

  • I was arrested for not having a stap across my shoulder while driving like when your driving away at the end.

  • We both had our seat belts on the whole time. We don't go anywhere without them - not because it's the law, but because it's stupid not to wear one.
