Back in the mid to late 70's, my best friend and I danced, and danced, and danced to this fabulous song--two gay boys in backwoods Kentucky! I have all Buffy's albums/cds. Rumor goes that she wrote this song with Mick Jagger in mind? Love the Stones, but LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Buffy,the NATIVE NORTH AMERICAN CHILD. Thanks for uploading.

Buffy said that when Illuminations bombed commercially in 1969 it was because they only saw her as an image--"Pocahontas-with-a-guit­ar" as she put it. Wikipedia says she later disavowed the album. That's hard to believe--she put too much into it. Today, it's regarded by many as classic, ahead of its time (the synths). It proved she could rock. Hard. The lyrics on some songs tender and loving ; on others biting, full of bile, angry--among the best and smartest she ever wrote.

Illuminations is a excellent album. I've worn mine out. All those that thought that Buffy was all about Native American ballads will be surprised by Illuminations. God is Alive, guess who I saw in Paris? etc. Good stuff.
