The beginning of this song sounds like any Marisa theme, but the typical upbeat sounds and catchy rhythms that we’ve come to expect are replaced by darker and more dangerous tones befitting the menace of Marisa as an Extra Boss stage. The drums at 0:22 assault rather than enliven. The jarring screeches 0:34 would not sound out of place in a horror movie. The once playful guitars of Vessel of Stars and LCMS are now sinister and monotone. This song reflects the full severity of the situation.

But this new interpretation of Marisa is only possible from Cirno’s POV. That’s why this song feels like it's partly Cirno's theme. The trumpet from 1:20 sounds like Cirno’s brave defiance towards such an overwhelming and terrifying enemy. She isn’t able to drown Marisa’s influence; the ominous bass in the background is always there to remind us that this is Marisa’s show. But Cirno stubbornly carries on, either from sheer determination or sheer stupidity, to fight until she wins.

Love TouHou so much, but of all of them ive played this one seems more difficult for some reason, probably because of the final boss. Ive only ever mannaged to clear Fairy Wars once, on easy, and of my hundreds of attempts on the other game, only Imperishable Night 4 times, none of the others at ALL!

As far as I know she worked to get her abilities, unlike reimu who gets them from her shrine (from what I've heard), ontop of that she takes on youkai and learns from their spells. According to Touhou lore, a human can become a youkai by getting sufficiently skilled in magic and learning a spell that makes it so they don't have to eat food (I think) . Apparently, Alice managed to become a youkai like that. I don't know if real Japanese mythology has anything like that -.-

Which is more simple, looks more legit to be part of Japanese mythology (assuming it's not), and even explains other instances of "human becomes immortal" cases in other series (like Rosalina in Super Mario Galaxy).

Either way, I believe Marisa is still a human, and is searching for a spell for eternal life.

Cirno is similarly overpowered for a normal fairy, and is a highly capable icy spellcaster, but she has a severe case of being Overshadowed by Awesome, the Awesome in this case being represented by an extremely powerful mage with big fragging lasers.
