  • how can you say it is love?,..if it can be said that you will never understand it unless you would have some hate?,...how can you say that it is hate?,..if it is completely opposite with love?, in which you will never know anything about unless you have some hate?,..opposite attracts indeed,...its like a merry-go round that spins in an ethereal void....if it takes to walk half of this confusing world to meet someone, o what a loss on how you departed on another ways and walk again the around?

  • I am absolutely in love with the artwork in this video <3

  • is like a confusing video yet i understood it completly

  • kinda pretentious in my opinion.

  • can someone i.d the song in the beginning?

  • i saw this on shrooms!

  • I believe the guy is the builder of the statue abut at same time craved himself a hole in the heart because he was incomplete The belll is the repesentation of his lost side matelialized as a women...

    JUst my point of view

  • I think it's about consumerism and materialism.

  • I found this as moving as I did confusing.

  • that cartoon is my destino!

  • God, i loved it loved it loved it!

  • By the way, when the choir starts singing, I missed Esther Williams´ Hollywood swimming. For f... sake, this is so cheesy! So Disney peasant minded!;-D

  • She was always in his heart. So beautiful...

  • This shows how an awesome company is Walt Disney Animation is

  • I love how this has given a life to the mesmerizing works of Dali. He made such wonderful yet disturbing artistic works. Though I really can imagine that there might be a more fitting song to aide this animation.

  • Men with baguets on their heads made me chuckle :)

  • Peter Chung designes his characters in similar way

  • Comment removed

  • It's the story of human enlightenment.

  • I wish I had dreams like that.

  • this should a good segment for fantasia

  • @supergregory1994 that was also in my mind the whole video.

  • what is the song? where can I download this song?

  • This is brilliant! It reminds me of some of my favorite dreams, where I get dragged of into thoughts I have no control over! That's what I enjoy about them and that's how I try to think, by letting my thoughts melt into each other.

  • Also, I didn't understand the baseball part too -_-

  • This cartoon is full of ambiguous thoughts. People from previous centuries were used to them, and could understand them. Minds of modern generation became too strict, instead of recognizing allegories, they see some bizarre pictures on the screen, and say "Wtf is that crap, was author on drugs when created this, or is he a mental psycho?". Their imagination abilities are sealed by simplicity of things that surround them. If they only could experience the thoughts of people that lived before them

  • @AlllexL Well, what you say is called prejudice and generalization. One wonders how you can possibly know what people "from previous centuries" had in their minds. Surrealism was not "pop" culture at its time, and as it dealt with the language and contents of dreams, many people did not "understand" it, if art is meant to be "understood"... As for this video, it has the looks of Dali´s surrealist paintings, but with the usual cheesy Disney touch...

  • And THIS is why you don't look at a lot of Dali paintings before falling asleep.

  • I...I think I stepped into the wrong part of youtube. Can someone direct me back to Dead Souls walkthroughs?

  • @rasj5150 Nope, not drugs. Is a Disney animation :D!

  • wicked!

  • Awesome animation. Opeth has a song that is the exact same length as this, and someone played the song and video together. The results are amazing the say the least. It fits almost perfectly. /watch?v=IcPZ69myGec

  • Sure, that is about the concept of imagery of the dream realm. But yeah, drugs...

  • wow this is BEAUTIFUL!

  • If you wonder what destino would be like with dub step, mute it and listen to this. It matches quite well. It's called "Top 10 Best Dubstep Tracks with Sick Drops"

  • @uproariousRIOT U R A LOSER. GET A BETTER LYFE. DUB STEP IS NOT REEAALL MUSIC.

  • I can't believe I actually understood what I just saw. haha. she was always the bell, and he was always the statue, he has a hole in his heart because the shadow of her shows through the hole, so that she can be in front of him and he can see her through her shadow, but he can't touch her, and she can't touch him because as the bell she can't move, but her shadow can. if that makes any sense at all. how twisted am I to actually not see this as completely weird?

  • @xdanaxinsanax it's beautiful that you understand it.....i don't get the baseball thing....

  • @xdanaxinsanax right on ... this is a great video to feature for valentine's day too... so many people feel like love is unattainable or that a glass window exists between them and others they seek to love.

  • @xdanaxinsanax Nawh, I got it, too. I thought this was absolutely brilliant.

  • @xdanaxinsanax I don't think you're twisted at all. I think it's good that you can see it and understand it instead of judging it based on what people would now call as weird animations.

  • @xdanaxinsanax I GET IT NOOOW OMG!! THIS IS WICKED MAD GENIUS!!!

  • @xdanaxinsanax cool philosiphy

  • @xdanaxinsanax good description of the end of the cartoon. you're a true visionary

  • @IGaveMyNameToThatGuy thanks haha. :)

  • AH D: its over already!! i wanted so much more! It was so beautiful!!! :D

  • Wait, did they ever get to each other? D:

  • Thank you very much for uploading this, I only saw the whole short once at a Dali exhibition in the Tate modern art gallery a few years back. It's a beautiful piece, tells a coherent narrative of lovers lost in time and space, while at the same time forging wonderfully surreal imagery. Hard to believe that modern day Disney is capable of such artisitic flourish. I don't think even the great Pixar could have done any better. Shame this kind of talent is squandered by meaningless commercialism.

  • Thanks, Disneyboy1989.

  • Wonderful. Beautiful. Twisted.

  • @cha1184420 I couldnt agree more. I happen to like this video

  • @RAYGCA It was originally supposed to be a segment from Fantasia 2000 but it was taken out.

  • Is this from Disney? Wow! I've never seen this one before. It's soooo beautiful...

  • Beautiful <3

  • Hermoso

  • No sweet Jesus Christ! Those things at 3:09 are mutant spermatozoids, now for watching this all of us will go to hell!

Run for your souls! Go baptize once again or prepare to spend the eternity suffering with those maniacs (Dali & Disney).

  • surreal.

  • who sings???

  • @celinakyleify music written by mexican songwriter Armando Dominguez and performed by Dora Luz.

  • damn i miss Aeon Flux...

  • This is so beautiful! QwQ

One of the best abstact artists' work combined with Walt Disney's.

    I am absolutely breathtaken. <3

  • @BlueWolfie17 Surrealism**

  • Beautiful and spellbinding

  • This is a beautiful fantasy. Dali was a surrealist - which means from the subconcious or dreams.

  • wow that was beautiful but left me feeling sad for some reason....did they end up together?

  • @M1str3ssL3g10n

I know what you mean! I was wondering the same thing :(

  • i know the song is probably called "destino", anybody knows who sings it? Id LOVE to have this. Man its beautiful!

  • If only dresses were forged from bell tower shadows..

This is amazing tho. I think Salvador would be proud.

  • This is actually amazing.

  • Wow....just wow...

  • Amazing !!

    I really love it

and the ideas are awesome x))) !!

  • @Scruffydog15 that's at this point anecdotal. At any rate I think you could have given a young Dali all the DMT you could extract and he still would not have come up with diddly without Freud. It's irresponsible to look at a Dali and immediately glorify his translation of the dreamscape (and mention drugs, endogenous or exogenous) without first giving Freud essentially all due credit. Now if Freud had DMT lying around, THAT would have been interesting.

  • Brilliant!!! *_*

  • 5:35 is a very beautiful moment

  • baseball guy looked like chevy chase.

  • Such an amazing collaboration and the product remains true to the vision of both. 10/10!

  • I cannot like this enough

  • This is what's known as a "Rare Treasure" in the archives of youtube.

  • Shit video, thumbed down. I am the 1%.

  • Such blatant CG? Really...

  • Bellísimo!! Como me alegro de haberlo podido ver!

  • Just adding something to the top comments:Twilight? Drugs? And that dump question wtf did i just watch?Obviously you people are stupid and dont have any culture of art, and you can spam me to death, because i will always know that i aint no ignorant like you. I`ve seen those comments all over the internet, and i`m tired of people who say those things about vids who encourage culture and real arts.If you are one of those ignorants get off the internet and shove your brainless heads in the toilet.

  • @dammyteo i totally agree with you

  • @dammyteo "i aint no ignorant like you".

    ahahaha. sweet irony.

  • @SoSoRandom123 .... intentionally so....

  • I see...a rhinoceros!

  • wonderful creativity message with salvador dali ,thxs that you have make this

    this is my favorite :)

    ciao^_^ciao

  • It takes more creativity and vision to create something that doesn't follow reason. Whimsical surrealism impresses me more than art that makes perfect sense.

  • I am loving this..

  • This is definatly creative surrealism. Walt Disney and Salvador Dali together did such a terrific job with this cartoon. An Oscar-nominated masterpiece to me!

  • No, you fucking morons. This has nothing to do with drugs. These ideas originate in the fantasy realm of the DREAM.

Yes, these ideas are inspired by dreams. Not drugs.

  • @SalmonelaKid Your right, it wasn't drugs, it was severe mental illness, lol.

  • @SalmonelaKid technically a dream is nothing more than a dimethyltryptamine induced hallucination.

  • @Scruffydog15 That is true. DMT <3

  • @Scruffydog15

You obviously have just some rudimental half-knowledge. Your post is not correct.

  • @SalmonelaKid Dreams are caused by a drug your brain releases. So......fail

  • @swim2222

Dreams are cause by high activity in the brain during sleep, causing images, ideas, emotions to appear in our mind.

So ... you're a complete and utter retard.

    Oh, and : "EPIC FAIL".

  • @SalmonelaKid Dreams can often be inspired or enhanced by drug stimuli. Not trying to rustle your jimmies, you have a valid point but the inverse is also true.

  • How can anybody dislike this? It may not be your cup of tea, but to take the time to find and press the dislike button.... I'm amazed!

  • Well of course it's not as impressive as it should be...they forgot to add The Dillinger escape plan - Widower :T

  • this video is my heroine.

  • maybe not, "there's no story at all" but "what you see is a piece of art that stands alone, and you yourself as a viewer can interpret"

  • trippy stuff

  • eu vomitei arco iris!

  • one word - trippy.

  • extraordinaire coopération

  • فرحة تحرير الروح من سطوة الزمن !

  • Kids, there is no story. It's surreal.

  • @Sxvites Just because it's surreal doesn't mean there's not a story.

  • @Malallory @Malallory That’s exactly what it means. It’s mean to elicit an emotional response as quickly as possible so its meaning is never greater than your initial, belletristic, reaction to it. It has no meaning beyond emotional reaction. There is no symbolism in surrealism; it superficially appears to be symbolic because in order to cause such a response the imagery must be strange, otherworldly, and surreal!

There is no plot and any perception of one is merely subjective.

  • @MrCaptain221 meant*

  • @MrCaptain221 What you've said about surrealism is true, however this video isn't PURELY surreal. It's got tons and tons of surrealism in it, but that doesn't mean that's all it is. There's definitely a storytelling element in there. See 6:03 where it says "Story by Salvador Dali." But what you said in your other comment about it being like a dream certainly still holds, and it's definitely open for interpretation. :)

  • @Malallory Yeah that's why I kind of backed up on what I said, I actually watched the video so : /

  • @Malallory It’s like a dream, the story is different for each person and it is what you make it, I suppose is what I mean to say.

  • joder que grande Dali!!

  • Shadoooooows! Gosh how I like adult Disney.

And what about storyline... it's simple, it's just about woman. She is not thinking of time, looking for a ideal man, was drinking a lot, because it makes head like dandelion and life is so simple and sweet. Because of this was dishonoured(eyes-gentlemen and loosing of dress), was depressed for some time.

Likes telephone talks, sometimes telephone talks are "sharp"... New shadow dress, is a begining of a new life stage, life is wonderfull again.

  • (continue)

Some time left, and she found ideal man in... usual baseball guy. She become adult, life goes in usual way, all dreams now are deep in her heart. No. In their hearts. Because they simply meant to be with each other. An ideal man, and sweet ballerina still living deep in them.

    Happy end =)

  • Can someone tell me which is the name of the soundtrack of this clip?

  • it made me dizzy but its really nice <3

  • I watched it high and it was the best thing I've ever seen

  • I find my name to be such an honor to hear it in so many Disney films. It really is a magical feeling when they say "Destiny" in majority of Disney films, but to watch this and to see it made by two of the most extraordinarily beautiful artists ever is truly a blessing to be born with the name "Destiny" as I am. To hear beautiful singing with that name being repeated beautifully through the animation and for it to be titled with such a name is simply divine.

  • Did anyone else get genuinely offended when Bette Midler dismissed Dali as the "melting clocks guy" and poo-pooed the idea of a Disney collaboration with him in Fantasia 2000? I got so pissed because I thought it would be totally awesome! And I was right.

  • Can someone please tell me what's this story's about? Because I don't understand what happened at the end... :(

  • Salvador Dali is drugs. He is the master of surrealism and I will ALWAYS be obsessed with his work and life.

  • I can't believe I'm seeing negative comments about this some people are so fucking judgmental can't you just take something as it is without spewing your filth. YouTube Comment section = internet sewer.

  • @cha1184420 Thank you. I agree completely.

  • @cha1184420 Some of us just think Dali was a sell-out hack who's hyper over-rated by people who don't know any better. Sorry to burst your bubble.

  • @cha1184420 this is a satanic ritualistic stealth communique

  • I'm so confused. I don't think that I'm one to understand this kind of art.

  • Why does this creep me out?

  • @aknightofnee It's okay, I'm very greeped out my this too

  • 3:22 A melting clock. There just has to be a melting clock.

  • This is a cheap, modern CG rendition of something which would have probably taken much longer to make in the 1940s (Fantasia era) and the effort would have made it all the more worthwhile. The ripple effects and the sinking sand look very obviously out of place.

To me it just looks like a Flash cartoon...

  • @fudgetone You know Dali would totally love the things computer graphics can do to images, right? I love hand drawn animation (and prefer it to CGI) as much as any Disney fan, but I'd be lying if I said it's use here makes it any less surreal or worthwhile to see completed.

  • THAT WAS THE COOLEST MOTHER FUCKING THING I'VE EVER SEEN. EVER.

  • that weird and beautiful at the same time !

  • This video has been selected by the channel as one of the best Animation videos on YouTube and was added to the channel's playlist accordingly. Thanks for sharing.

    Regards,

    bestofYTchannel

    beautiful... i adore this!!!!!

  • i have the weirdest boner right now

  • this guy was clearly on drugs

  • Magistral.

  • DMT and LUCY are some incredible drugs~

  • That was amazing, but I just wonder one thing, Why did the guys riding the bikes have bread on their heads? That is the only truly confusing thing about this short.

  • ...Com certeza o mais perto que se pode chegar da representação de um sonho!!!!

  • holy freemason DMT trip! makes for nice art I think he it made him mad the knowing

  • @69Sirdragon

Dalí claimed to never actually use drugs, but he did use self-induced sleep deprivation in order to get hallucinations.

  • this is fucked...

  • oomg. only on a salvador dali video will there be BRILLIANT top comments.

  • 3:55 they wear bread helmets like the egyptian protesters!!!

  • @HellaSweetStacks yea xD like that one picture of the protester with a bread on his head :3

  • wow this was seriously amazing my mind was like whoa, lost for words

  • goodmanross its fucking right.

  • I'll have what she is having

  • I want some of whatever she smoked. Now.

  • i remember watching this on a art exibit on a cruise ship years ago

  • It's amazing how much awesome two fascists can get up to...

  • could have not expected any thing more fucked up in the most incredible way from Dali

  • Mute this and play NIN's "Something I Can Never Have" off of Pretty Hate Machine instead. Start them both together exactly from the beginning. It's damn-near perfect.

  • beautiful piece of art left me awestruck....
