Lol my cord that connects my guitar to my xbox broke and while I'm waiting for a new one I just watch your videos and follow along like it's on my xbox.
@XxxmentalyillxxX Definitely! It might get boring for you after a while, or you might lose motivation, but try to practice for as long as you can. I wish I had started at such a young age, I'd be a pro at the guitar by now.
@ChocoboDreams hey thanks well violin and guitar are very different but as soon as one gets boring i switch to the other on so wish me luck that i can do this
@TheNblake333 yes it does teach you how to play the song, but for some songs it looks like it leaves out parts since in this song it was only the rhythm and no lead but yes what is on screen is what u play on a real guitar, i know because i play along with the video :P
just a tip bc you look like a beginner...when you are playing on the 3rd and 5th fret, instead of moving hand back and forth and just using your pointer finger, try keeping your pointer on 3rd fret and hammering down with ring finger on 5th. less movement = less chance for mistakes...and also will help your fingers get stronger quicker
@kingnocomply man, i've been playing for 10 years and felt like you did...including when guitar hero came out. now i think i will like rocksmith bc it will give me a chance to play with a band instead of always alone and will show me how to play some of my fav songs in full, and correctly. unless you play guitar, any difficulty w chords or higher frets is gonna be impossible. i see your point, but i'm actually excited to try this game out and make my playing extra fun
The hell are you complaining about? This is a great tool to help people learn guitar if they choose to. How is this any differnt then sitting down and randomly learning a song? How would you define honing real skill?
@GDMDeadZone ... cause, by the year 2020 an awsome guitarest isnt gonna be rare anymore .... fuick it i guess its all about the passion any way so you right..... im self taught tho, so like,...idk
Been playing guitar for 14 years (I'm 18) and as far as guitar hero\rockband goes...not really into it... but this... this is fuckin awesome I can just plug in my fender strat or jackson dinky or kelly or fuckin Gibson SG omfg... I'm buyin it...lmfao
A little tip don't just use your pointer finger keep your pointer on the 3rd fret and use your other fingers to hit the notes on the 5th or 7th its easier and you'll miss less notes. ;D
@silverblade604 I know what alternate picking is. If you pay attention through the video, there are times where I do that. I just had a hard time with it so I would alternate pick for a pick then go back to down strumming.
a little advice, it'll be easier of you use alternate picking, keep your hand on one place and just use your middlefinger ringfinger and pink to hit frets other then the 3rd fred
it'll make your playing more relaxt and it'll make the songs easier
it seems like everyone who has this game already plays i play and i think im gonna get easier to learn songs combine my two favorite thin guitar videogames
Uhm assuming I read what you said correctly... I DONT actually play guitar lol.
I have had a guitar since Christmas but I didn't learn to play it, nor did I even use it besides messing around with it on a few random occasions :P This is pretty much my first REAL guitar experience and I love it....it makes learning fun
Play a real guitar... Oh wait... lol, seriously, this game looks great, I remember playing guitar hero 2 and wishing it was more like real guitar, And i liked rock band pro guitar, but this moves a little slower and shows you more ahead so it's easier to be ready. Not to mention If i could have used my baby (My Ibanez SZ720) with RB3 I would have been a lot better. The strat was too wide, and the fret size really didn't work for me.
that is one of the reasons this game isnt good, you basically learn to play but you miss important things: feel, alternative picking (strumming is playing chords not single notes)and many many more. if you played rock band 3 also i can guess you play like that for like half a year, after half a year on real guitar i played the whole stairway to heaven song and now im playing a year and i know pretty advanced things:highway star, cowboys from hell, muster of puppets and more
@Macthillien *facepalm* this isnt enough, does this game tells you how to pick right? does it teach you the basic chords and theory you need to know? i saw you didnt know how to play G chord and its like the second thing you learn on guitar.also,it does not teach you scales, improvising, theory in music, how to do every technique the right way,the way the guitar is built and many more things... also,i assure you if you learn guitar from a teacher\internet you can pick better after couple of days
@LNsaNeShot Also just a side note about your guitar teacher comment...that may be the case for some people, but I know from experience (I used to have a Piano teacher) that I HATED learning from a teacher. It is boring and you don't really WANT to practice because of how boring it is to you even if you like the instrument.
@LNsaNeShot With Rocksmith it is actually enjoyable (at least in my opinion.
You get to play some songs you know (along with the rest of the band in the background), the game adds more notes as it sees you improve, and my favorite part is that even though you are learning from it...it is a GAME so I actually enjoy practicing and learning new things to get better and do better on the songs.
@LNsaNeShot There are tons of technichs and teaches you the basics and some stuff more. You can't judg the game untill you play it. And how do you know if I can play a G chord or not? <.<
@Macthillien yeah? so do you know the five patterns of the pentatonic scale? I saw that you knew how to play D chord but when you told you D\F# you didnt know your supposed to play a D chord but from F# base which is pretty basic thing.
by how you play i can see that you learned guitar terribly which means the game isnt that good.
i saw that you dont know how to play G chord cause when they told you to do a g chord you messed up
@LNsaNeShot I'm not sure if I am just misunderstanding your comments but...you know that there are 2 different people you are replying to right?
Cause it seems like all your comments are aimed towards me (BravoGangUS08) but your taking "Macthillien" 's comments as if I was the one who said them :x
@LNsaNeShot How the fuck can you know if can play or not! This is not my video!! I'm just commenting because I play the game!! OMG you are fucking stupid.... Don't even check who is commenting...
@LNsaNeShot some people just want to play songs and for that you dont need to know scales you just need to know how to read tab which this game pretty much does. now if you want to write music then yeah you'll need to know scale, chords, ect. Rocksmith is meant to teach you songs and the techniques to play them. my guitar teacher thinks this is a pretty cool game and my music theory teacher thinks its a step up(he dosent like tab).
anyone talking shit needs to shut the fuck up...the fact that hes playing this game means hes practicing...this isnt guitar hero...but anyway good playing bro...like a few other people said when you get comfortable enough practice some alternate picking...saves your wrist some so you can keep on shredding :P
Good job, my suggestion is make use of all of your fingers! :) When you hit the 3rd fret of the a string with your index, swing your ring finger up for the 5th fret on the low e string. This will translate into later playing, also it'll help with keeping in time more easily and will increase accuracy. Good luck on your adventures of learning the greatest instrument ever!
@Samakar Thanks for the compliment and the advice :D I'll try to follow your advice.
I think when I started playing the game, I always thought in my head whether I should try to just use the one finger for things like that or not but I guess I should use other fingers as well
Thanks for the advice. The game actually tells/shows you the best way to hold the pick but I ended up just holding it the same way I always do which isn't good lol
In some of my newer videos that aren't up yet, I started holding it the way it shows but I am still not sure if it is correct lol, still feels like I am doing it wrong.
There is a problem here. Because each note you play resonates for x milliseconds, rocksmith pitch detection algorithm picks this up as an additional pick of the note when in fact you have not picked the correct amount of times. The designers should have written exactly the number of times each note should be played if played in succession. In fact a songbook with all the tabs would of been great. Maybe im just a perfectionist, you CAN get by with a rough estimate to picks/strums....
@gumbomombomombogumbo You are missing the point. The fact is he will be able to go back and do it himself if he chooses. The goal isnt to finish the song, it is to learn the basics to where you can move on and learn songs on your own and advance further. This game simply provides a basis to do so.
The game isn't going to just throw the whole thing at you note-for-note. It starts you off with only some of the notes to the song. Then as you get better it gives you more notes. Then when it feels you are ready, it has you play the whole song note-for-note. So yes it IS learning.
@hameed Are you an idiot? Or is it something that is out of your control. The game layers the difficulty for you - as you improve it builds the song up until you are playing the entire thing. It is a highly effective learning method called scaling that has scientific research to back it up. Next time think before you talk. It is a fact that this game is a tremendous learning tool for new guitar players allowing them to improve while seeing success as they advance through levels.
well done bud, keep it up, the game gets well hard, believe me ;) id put up some vids, but i dont have a capture card and my video camera is total trash
@alph0x the game has a dynamic difficulty setting, meaning that what you see on screen changes from easy to hard depending on your performance, if you are a beginner then you will only see part of the notes, when you start getting better then the game will add more notes to the song until its eventually "1:1"
@alph0x Yah as CrescentoD said the game doesn't have a difficulty selection. However if you continue to do well and hit the notes it throws at you, it will begin to increase the difficulty. Then eventually once you have become really good, you will be playing the song note for note
@CorporalGoogoo If you really need to play the game soon you could import the PS3 version from amazon com
It cost me 200€ - that's roughly 40€ for shipping and taxing fees. Of course don't expect to run the game on an old TV that does not support NTSC - use a modern screen with a digital input like HDMI or DVI. Sadly the game is currently rather expensive in comparison to the pre order.
The thing is, the game might come out during Winter or Spring... or in a year. I expect the later ;)
borrowed this game of a friend new how to play almost all of the songs on guitar fucking flying through it

@LNsaNeShot As you play through the main part of the game there are "Technique Challenges" that teach you different things.
One is how to pick up and down quickly. Also shows you how to play chords, play tremolos, bend notes, etc.
It has a video showing how to do the specific "technique" then has you practice it.

@alph0x Yah as CrescentoD said the game doesn't have a difficulty selection. However if you continue to do well and hit the notes it throws at you, it will begin to increase the difficulty. Then eventually once you have become really good, you will be playing the song note for note

The band "RockSmith" is blocking the release of the "game" in Europe. That's why it won't be released until March 2012.

Wish there was a europe release...

@CorporalGoogoo It sucks that it isn't available in Europe right now but as thewolf619 said, it will be coming out in Europe sometime in 2012
