Hey I get that alot but here's a tip: If you see the wave a death turn off the ps3 then turn it back on, if it show's up again then do the same thing, I use this tip on my ps3 and it started to work fine again, so follow this tip and your ps3 will work fine again.

well this is how you fix the problem you take out your hard drive and get it formatted on FAT32 that way you will start off fresh. u will lose all ur data but its better losing the data than the system.

the only diff between the 60 and the 80 is the larger hard drive and the removal of the emotion engine in the 60. Since the emotion engine only dealt with ps2 games and has nothing to do with this problem so their is no diff in the chance of this occurring.
