Can't imagine what it must have been like in my parents generation, being young and proper, never being too outrageous, listeningto the Everly brothers etc and then this ANIMAL comes on the scene!!!! Must have been radical!!!!!
@samuelrosenbalm A couple of centuries ago it was completely normal to married a 13 years old girl. Usually a girl was ready to married the moment they have their period because she can have children then. I'm not ok with him doing it but i can't not judge from far away, that's really easy to do, the hard thing to do is giving the man a chance to explain himself.
@imlarion Well, there's something I didn't know when I made that comment.
He was only 21 himself. And immature at that.
I guess seeing a 35 year old Dennis Quaid all over a 15 year old Wynona Ryder in the movie kind of bothered me a little.
I since found out that it wasn't really like they made it seem. He was only 21, and immature. She was 13, full, and very mature (from what I have since heard).
I still don't think it's okay, but I don't think he is really so bad, anymore.
@samuelrosenbalm ahah but good nonetheless, I praise the pedophile I admit it. Should focus on and praise the man's music and his stage talent. Not his pedophilia tendancies.
Gotta love the humility. For those uniformed @ the HIST of R & Roll this is the original fallen Angel. He taught Bon Scott, educated Keith Richards, tutored Iggy Pop, on the dangers/benefits of alcohol+speed+opiates. GOD bless "THE KILLER".
i would like for them to take this video down, when jerry stands up there is a very stereotypical white dude on the far left that is not even in the same zip code as the beat...and it's racist
He might have been the original punk. A true wild man!! LOVE IT!!!! Seeing the feeling in his face when he sings you believe him when he says "... I Ain't fackin' " to this day this song gets people up on their feet and gives them goosebumps.
Can you imagine what a young man full of testosteron and desire meant at this bigot time in the US. For the kids around him, Jerry is salvation. He names what they feel. Jerry, you are awesome, the KING OF ROCK 'N ROLL.
Everytime I see this I am reminded of how wild he was when I first saw him in about 1960--less handlers--just a wild man in every respect. The very best!!!
been looking for this clip forever, saw a part of that on a documentary called "Punk Attitude" (a Doc. about the history of Punk) and was WTF!! Dude, that's awsum! :D
I love, love, seeing this video everytime! This is Jerry Lee at his best. He made everyone crazy. His later performances were more staged. This is an example
of what he was like earlier on. I saw him push a piano off the stage at the Tucson Gardens!! He was a wild man with red hair. He had the ability to make everyone get wild. Wow, it's still exciting!!!
Jerry Lee is handling this bunch just like his cousin Jimmy Swaggart does. It is like a holy roller tent service and that is just what the kids are used to. The lines were torn down here!
Fantastique version de WLSGO. Il suffit de regarder le public pour comprendre le pouvoir de la musique à créer une communion avec l'artiste. Peu sont capables de le faire de la sorte. Merci Jerry lee.
Have to admit I was there in the audience. The show was made by Granada in Manchester with the Animals as the warm-up band. Directed and produced by Johnny Hamp and Phil Casson and designed by Michael Bailey (my husband at the time) Fantastic Rocking show!!
I first saw Jerry Lee in person at the Tucson Gardens when I was at the U of A. He was just like this--the wildest thing any of us had ever, ever seen. We wanted to do what he was doing--but we couldn't. Notice (before security people) how people just wanted to touch him. He got the fans in a frenzy. He was so hot--especially with that wild (for the time) hair! People went flat out nuts over him!
I saw this on TV when all we had was black and white.. it started with Rockers getting on their cafe racers and riding through the streets to a studio where all the bikes went into scafolding all around. There were some stand out acts that day and this is one of the best, Little Richard was also amazing.
@annamelinda10 WOW!! can't imagine how good that experience must have been!!! You're so lucky! And it was the year I was born...

@angiehoole1 I thought he was GREAT! Was one of my four favourites in my teen years -- along with Elvis Presley, Little Richard and Gene Vincent.
Love, your Dad. :-)

I realize that Jerry Lee Lewis was only 22 when he married Myra, but come on people.
How can you like someone who married his 13 year old cousin? When I was 22, I would have never dared to be with a 13 year old, let alone my cousin.
What is wrong with you people?

This is pure rock and roll. Simple and honest. No synthesizers, no computer enhanced voices, no lip synching or over-done choreography.

I say that because of many cameras and angles they make.
Also crowd is strangely free and motivated to be close to him shaking head.
Its recorded to be a video, long before MTV.

I love Jerry,he is one of my teen idols, but this video looks like fake.
Its not concert at all,its live, but not live performance from some concert, its just recorded video, something like commercial for his dead carrier.
1964 Beatles ruled,he wanted to show the world: Hey,I was here first,I'm still alive!!
