i concur. i do believe there is life else where in the Universe. they are either living or in suspended animation. they say one of the moons on Saturn that's covered in ice, and underneath it is warm water heated by its core and may have life. if Mars had life, i believe they were Earth's "only" visitors or they managed to migrate to Earth before Mars's fate.

Now if indeed as in this movie, Martians or some other alien culture had seeded the oceans of Pre-Cambrian Earth with their DNA, the life that would form from a combination of both existing DNA in the oceans and the alien DNA would produce a unique hybrid of both.
