Yeah, probably the biggest drawback to this game is how swiftly it adopts shooter-elements.  At the beginning, with scouting the town of Innsmouth and through avoiding the fishmen, it feels very Lovecraftian and creepy as hell.

But once you start running around with shotguns, machineguns and ultimately the fucking Lightning Gun, almost all the sense of vulnerability and fear is lost.
