  • I grew up watching this movie and many others produced by the company that made this such as: The buttercreme gang, in your wildest dreams, on our own, anything really from the company featured films for families was a great video to watch they all had good morals to them and were worth watch not like this crap we get today!!!

  • that part always made me cry. This is probably the most underrated and unknown classic.

  • I'm singing this (amongst other songs, but this is my closer piece) at my voice recital tomorrow. :)

  • @readandwaiting18 I'm still a kid, and I'M bothered by the media these days. :'( I would not mind these movies with this.... beauty in them that words could not explain. I LOVE this movie. It's one of the few in existence that can actually make me cry, and it's hard to make me cry.

  • @WhisperwindPancake 2 things one, LOL, I love your user name. 2, I beat you, I'm 13 and I get it... thinking about it, if I had listened to it when I was 11 I would have got it then too, but I don't think younger than that.

  • i want this song on my phone so much i love the film

  • i dont remember the movie, but i love this song soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much!!!!! :)

  • i love this song so much!!! whenever it is stuck in my head, i don't mind, i am happy when i sing it. i cried when i first saw it . i was 6... :)

  • I have loved this movie since i was 3. i can watch it over and over, cry every time and not get bored. now thats a good movie. some people just dnt get it but, it truely beautiful!

  • I never did get over how beautiful and touching this movie was/is.....not even now that i'm serving in the infantry..

  • omg i used to loooove this movie!

but her voice really isn't that pretty, in fact it's really.. kinda bad.

i used to think she was SO good when i was little.

  • @iloveyounixon Noo. The quality is just reallly bad, I think. :P

  • @iloveyounixon she is very good! i own the movie. i just watched it not an hour ago and i had this song stuck in my head so i looked it up on youtube... ya, it's the quality. she has an amazing voice.

  • @readyandwaiting18 no one made it then either. It was a special light in the darkness.

  • This was a classic film. Used to watch it all the time with my mom and sister when I was a kid. I love this song. Gives me chills.

  • This is the best movie ever made. I saw this movie for the first time last summer, and I immediately fell in love. I am 12 and I cried the first time I saw it. I know all the songs by heart, and "Let Me In" is the song that will land me a spot in the district musical!. I randomly find myself singing them to myself when it is quiet, and I wish that I could own it. Thank you for uploading all your videos.

  • Always makes me cry <3

  • wow they kill the guy for nothing i saw this in school and people cried when he was dead

  • Very Beautiful Movie, thanks for this clips. I love all songs in, great story. Tears almost the end, but finally a happy ending.

  • Love this movie :D I think my parents bought this for me for reasons...sooo glad they did :D Taught me soo many lessons. Great music, and a story to boot. Glad other people watched this movie as well :D

  • LOVED THIS AS A CHILD!!! :')

I really believe that the Love of G-d is really behind this music.

ps: still have the vhs & vhs player! :D

  • I love this movie.

I nearly cried on the part when they beat Rigoletto thinking

he killed that girl when he actually saved her.

    This movie touches my heart.

    :')

  • I love this part because she looks so good, the music suits her, and it decribes her background, very well. I sometimes wonder if the character of Rabaldi simply wrote it for her to allow her to relate to it, because when you have passion for the song, you sing it better (give it a try). And yes i do know it's fiction and was planned, but it's my thoughts.

  • i love this show! i grew up watching it at my grandparents house all the time and i have never not cried

  • I cried when he died. All the other kids in my class just laughed and said "GANG BANGING" I love this movie though.

  • So pretty... Heart wrenching even...

  • this is the only movie dat made me cry way before my time but i love it

  • -- At 1:36 she's not singing with correctly. Her voice begins to "snap" or "break" cuz she's not singing from the diaphragm.

  • @MikeSPx24bj9 maybe we should try using correct grammar before we criticize peoples singing...from a movie....a brilliant movie btw...

  • @readyandwaiting18 and i most certainly agree

  • I absolutely love this movie. It's sad that not many people know about it. Thanks for posting!

  • @InweTellemnar,

    >> It's sad that not many people know about it.

-- One time I was at a fair & I was quoting the "pigs are people too" and I had a young boy stop me recognizing the movie that was quoted from.

  • @MikeSPx24bj9 Wow, really? That's awesome. It would probably surprise us how many people know about it and don't want to admit it...

  • @readyandwaiting18 I've got the VHS of the movie, to this day I cry watching it.

  • i love this film! it is lovely and i am only 21 x

  • I'm surprised how many people have seen this movie...I've always loved this movie. I like to pull it out of the VHS archives every now and then and it's message continues to hold close...I still get chills from this song. I hope this movie is still available for those of the younger generation...it may not be "hip" but it's powerful

  • I loved this moving growing up!!

  • Heart warming. This song actually makes me tear up.

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE!

  • This is by far one of my favorite movies. I can't wait to get my children into it. Even my mother still cries watching this. :) They need to make more movies with the morals this one has.

  • This show makes me cry ):

    Such a beautiful show

  • love this movie!!!!!!

  • i love this movie!1

  • I still get chills listening to this and I've seen this movie many times since I was a kid

  • i have never heard of this movie until a couple of weeks ago when my choir teacher played and i fell in love with this movie. its so amzing!!!

  • i love this movie its is by far my favorite

  • i added her and the actor who played Ribaldi on Facebook....i actually found their personal pages!!!!!

  • I loved this movie growing up! Over Christmas break, my best friend that i knew since i was a baby and I got together and watched this on VHS! It was AMAZING!

  • I need to find this on dvd.Great movei

  • This movie is really cool! I just think it"s really sad that he gets beat up and he pays money to that village and they take him as a monster. He saved the girl who fell down the waterfall. She is a really good singer. I feel bad for her because this is all going on during she is singing. She doesn't know about it. I have watched this movie a million times, it is such a good movie.

  • tooshay 100% :)

  • what time period was this film based in??

  • Sometime durring the depression era, I think.

  • omg...i tried looking for this for so long, thankyou for putting it up!!! its such a lovely movie!!!

  • ivey lloyd has a beautiful voice, where is she now?

  • i know' thats what i was wondering:) she has a beautiful voice:)

  • I love this song! I enjoyed this movie when I was a little girl and this song was my favorite part of the movie; I always got chill bumps.

  • I love this song. My favorite from the movie!!! So beautiful!!

  • I love this song too :) my favorite song is April Child so beautiful :)

  • omg! this is so sad! i was tearing up!! (for Mr. Rabaldi)

  • I love this song.. i am singing to in a competition witch i have a solo in:]]

  • I didn't remember the name of it until just now. I used to watch this movie over and over until it died on me. I found it on line on DVD for 13.00. I'm so asking for this for christmas!!!

  • They beat the holy shit outta that man and he didnt even do anything.

    -.-

    thats fucked up.

    :[

  • omg we saw this in chorus and we have to sing it in our christmas concert......lmao

  • You do realize that Reboldi was the one who was "killed" but even then, he wasn't killed. The curse he spoke of was lifted and he became the former prince he once was and was able to leave with his princess

  • He wrote the words.

  • yeah.......i am

  • well i took it jr year and us govt last year.... but other than them not having cops around in this po-dunk town, killing someone was a pretty big deal.

I blame the mom AND bonnie. the mom coulda stepped in, with that rifle they had 4 some reason. n they coulda got them ppl in trouble, law or not, but they just let it slide!

what would rigoletto do? he'd kick some ass, that's what HE'D do!!!!

  • i like how they all killed rigoletto n then they were just like , "oops, our bad. " & go on their marry way. what? do we got no jails in this town?!

yeah yeah i know it's a kids movie. so they want kinds to think u dont go to jail for murder? i dont think so

  • It's NOT a kid movie. It's very complicated.

I didn't realize what it meant until 15.

  • @WhisperwindPancake Im a 14 year old girl, seen this since i was 2,Have loved it since then, and I understand it..Its a great movie.I love it.and I just wish that others would ketch on to the true meaning behind this!! Love it.quality, not so great..but thanks anyway :) 5 Stars!

  • @WhisperwindPancake yes i first saw this movie first when i was 6 and i got it really fast but i guess some people dont catch on quickly ......

  • @WhisperwindPancake what does it mean?

  • @moleberrybush It means accepting yourself and others despite looks and to trust in your heart. Rigoletto could not remove the uglyness from his face, until he let it leave his heart. Bonnie had to learn to let herself tell the truth even if others disagree and to stand up for what you believe and the town slowly learned that looks were decieving and first appearances meant nothing. It is one of those movies that has new meaning each time you watch and I have watched many times but there is more

  • I don't think they technically ''killed'' him. He was still alive when they took him to the hospital. He died the next morning, as a result of his injuries.

  • @Sherwood254 that's the same thing

  • family serries was this movie from... they made great family moives

  • its from Feature Films for Families

  • break the shell? lol...srry

  • totally forgot about this movie. i used to love it so much.

GAH. i need to find my vhs player.

  • I love this movie and this song...I remember my friend's little sister and brother used to beg her to sing the "Music box" song, and so for the longest time I thought that's what this song was called! :)

  • This is the best movie ever!!!!Love this movie!

  • i remember this movie from when i was like 10 lol I LOVE IT. I CRIEEEDDDDDDDD/ BALLLEDDDD at the end....damn those village folk!

  • i remeber watching this in 5th grade and i was the same i bawled my eyes out here

  • I ALWAYS CRY DURING THIS PART!!! ='[

  • i love this movie so so so much. ever since i was a little kid i loved it.<3

  • omg I haven't seen this since I was like 7!!

  • This is one of my favorite movies. Every time that I go to my grandparent's house I watch it and cry at the end. I've been doing it for years and I'm still not tired of it.

  • you should have uploaded the whole movie :333

  • im glad im not the only one who's seen this movie.

my friends had me convienced i was crazy :3

    i LOVE this movie

  • haha yeah I haven't seen this since 1995... and just found it. I'm renting it on netflix :D

  • Love this song...LOVE the movie...one of my favorites of all time! <3 very deep...touching...tears me up each time.

  • Thanks for posting this. It is such a beautiful song and has such a sweet meaning. I also love the girl's voice.

  • I love this movie! Thanks for posting this!

  • I know Ivey! I love her she's amazing.

  • This part made me cry the first time I saw it.

  • I adore this movie and song!!!!!!

  • AH! IVEY! I know her!!! Sweet! She's in my play!

  • This is my absolute favorite movie. I have watched this movie over and over and over. It reminds me of Jesus how he came to save the world. His own people and government rejected him. Ribaldi came to give life back to this town, and his own town for the most part rejected him, and had no clue to what they had done til it was over.

  • this is one of my FAVE movies of all time!! it makes me cry everytime i watch it! 5 Stars!

  • I LOVED this movie as a child. I still remember everyone of these songs and I know I cried when they killed Mr. Ribaldi too! I think she did a great job and to the person who says they could have casted this better what are you doing with your life??? I promise you are not on her level or you would be singing and not downing a God given talent! Have a great day!

  • i love this movie. and this song.

  • Is it just me or does this movie seem symbolic of someone else's life?

  • i LUV this movie!!! and pretty much the songs 2!

  • I was so sad when they killed Ribaldi. I cried when he died. Great movie though. Thanks for putting this.

  • Ribaldi never died... he went back to his land as "Rigoletto".

  • i dont know why some people disagree, i mean shes great an everything but she sings kind of breathy, even my music teacher said so and i think she knows a lot more than the people who thumbs-downed you.

  • im sorry it wasnt breathy it was something else..she wasnt singing her vowels nice and tall, like my choir directior would say.

  • Feature Films for Families had some great movies! this was my favorite one, but it's so sad. Buttercream gang (both) are good as well!

  • i wish this movie had a bigger budget...the director did great with his limited funds...it makes you imagine what he could have done with more money..

  • I love this movie, I used to sing it alot when I was younger!:)

  • Thanks for the comment on my video. Your video makes me want to check the movie out on netflix.

I have not seen it yet.

  • I sang this for a competition and I won. the sad thing about it is, that her music teacher was killed because the town thought he was stealing their homes, but in fact he wasn't he was secretly helping them.

  • Orr Middle School's choir sung this at their concert last school year, i know this because i was one of the students who sang ! i was awsome i love this song !

  • Absolutely beautiful! I loved this as a kid and still do at 20! Family Feature Films FTW!

  • I loved this movie growing up and I absolutely love this song!

  • i love this song it is soooooooooooo fun 2 listen 2 and play

  • I love this song it is pretty

  • Our aunt gave me this movie when I was 7 and I haven't been able to find it anywhere!! Thanks for putting it on!

  • this is like my favorite movie!!! <3

  • i love this movie!<3

  • Ehmagawd!!!! I LOVE this movie!!! We watch it in band all the time when we have a sub

  • This is one of my absolute favorite movies! I love this song. ^^

  • I love this movie & this soundtrack - thanks for posting! ~spread the love~

  • were learning this song for our choir concert, the last one in May 12!! I´m soo excited about this song bcuz like its awsome, and the movie was thee BOMB!! The love within myself!! IT FOUND A PLACE EMBRACED BY HARMONY!! :)

  • do you know where i can get the piano music for this?? I want to use it to adition for a musical for my school!

  • You can order the piano book from the feature films for families website I think.

  • Good song. How old is the girl? 11? 12?

  • i think she's supposed to be like 15 in the movie :)

  • i think she was like 14 or 15 in this movie.

  • loved the movie and the song........near and dear, since my voice teacher also has a physical handicap and hides from the world like rigolotto does.. but such a beautiful spirit he has, and he gave me the confidence to sing my heart out!!!

  • i think we might have had the same teacher. what is the handicap?

  • And when she sings the chorus for the last time, the background music is the melody of The Curse.

  • my favorite movie ever

  • Great! i love this song..thx..

  • me too! oh my goodness

  • i used to love this movie and this song!!!

  • this movie is so good, and so sad.

  • i love this movie and song

  • I had a chance to talk with Ivey Lloyd...she's married and a mom now and she looks back on making the movie with a lot of fondness. She was happy to hear that people still watch this DVD and that it touched so many. My daughter loves the DVD. Nothing less than excellence!

  • I cried so much during this movie!!! So good!!

  • Beautiful, I love how it complements the song "The Curse" with the "now i know very well" I wonder how many people made that connection.

  • I have the movie soundtrack, and one of the songs is like a reprise of both songs, and it has Bonnie singing the chorus of The Melody Within, while Ribaldi is singing the chorus of The Curse--at the same time.

  • my sis and I were searching for this clip...found it! Thanks SO much! brings back memories:) great movie, great song

  • oh I remember seeing this movie when it came out. I was 8 or 9 I think...1993, right?

ahh this movie made me cry when I was younger. I loved it!

thank you for posting the song.

  • gives me chills. every time.

  • do they have a soundtrack to this movies? i really like this song

  • yes they do. i think i got mine off of the feature films for families website along with the sheet music

  • I think so :) I'm pretty sure, actually

  • this song brings back great memories!!! i used to sing this all the time when i was little just to drive my brothers nuts!! lol... thanks for posting it...

  • Wow I used to watch this part of the movie for hours on and then replay it so I had the song memorized by heart and I could sing it to my family. Thanks so much for posting this. It brings back a lot of memories as a child. My parents cleaned out our movie drawer and I was bummed they tossed out this one so I went looking for it on here. Glad to know its being sold on DVD. I think I'll go buy a copy for myself.

  • this part of the movie made me cry. =[

  • this story is just like beauty and the beast! which one came first though?

  • I know and I LOVE beauty and the beast. Beauty and the beast came first... its actually a very old french fairy tale with a few versions... =D

  • aw my favorite part of my favorite movie im bout to cry...i learned this when i was five years old:)

  • lol!

    im singing this in choir

so i watch the movie and then im singing it! :O

  • i love this movie its been my favorite from childhood !! now im 19 and i actually just got thru watchin it .,..... its the best i just love it

  • I LOVE this movie! I cry every time I see it..... although I haven't seen it in like 4 years. I'm going to have to find my VHS copy!

    But a truly beautiful song.

  • I'm singing this song for contest! i;m so excited! i can't find lyrics of this song on youtube though.... good job!

  • Great song.... remember this movie from when I was thirteen...

I remember feeling a great sense of injustice when this chick won the competition, because she was clearly a far worse singer than the girls who performed before her. When I asked my parents why she won, they replied "I guess because she was singing about love."

  • Love this movie and song! :D
