One more thing: what matters most is how the actors interprets the roles, and the acting in Quarantine is excellent. Think of it in terms of a play, where the same story by Shakespeare or Ibsen is presented on stages all over the world by different people. Nobody would call that "ripping off", now would they? " [REC] was a national smash hit in Spain, and with this remake it gains a wider audience. BTW: inmho, the original is absolutely fantastic and on my top 5 of all time horrorlist.

First off: If you haven't seen this movie, go see [REC] first. Actually, see it and the sequel [REC] 2 back to back, as the sequel picks up where the first one ends. I've been watching horror films all my life, and... All I wanna say is that they're satisfying. I don't wanna say too much, but if you like horror you won't be disappointed. Second - the spanish guys that made the original were involved in the making of this one. Just like in The Ring and The Grudge. End of discussion.
