  • Maybe she figured if she committed suicide, it would draw attention and her daughter would have a greater chance to get into the prestigious school through well wishers. A little far fetched but....

  • there are so many who are extrmly poor what about them? if they only choose 1 out of a thousands what will happen to the others?.....they need to provide evry1 with a good education

  • the government should do something for their nation rather than fighting for power.....i just hope poorty in africa becomes less its just heart breaking...i always cry when they show videos of how people die of hunger....i wish the government realises soon.....how can they even see their own people die like this its a shame

  • Starehe has always been an example of what selflessness can achieve in any institution...it's high time our government learns a thing or two from it.

As per the uniform, you only need to go through the school system to appreciate it ;)

  • starehe is an example of noble cause..i always view this institution with great admiration and pride..its very noble to give the neediest but the brightest a fair and viable chance to achieve their dreams without being constrained by the vagaries of poverty

  • The people down there are working very hard and have big hearts...however,...the leaders of this land have fallen into immorality...concentrating on stealing and corruption...and little energy for solutions and creativity that will secure the future of the people..pole sana for the incidence....its a sign of a rotten society and failed systems

  • They wear very ugly uniforms, I hope the colors mean something. Thanks for the work they are doing though. Goodluck

  • each one, teach one..... Why cant the great students teach those who cant afford the school what they've learned?

all kids have a right to a good education, Sad to see that money or lack thereof is the cause of not being able to.

  • Bursaries are there for a purpose but politicians have misused the funds. Over the years many many bright children miss out due to corruption. Thanks God there is Starehe.

  • but the uniform is too much

  • Where is the school fee munching PROF Karega in all this?

  • @72okoths I have challenged you time and again to prove that Mutahi stole, if you are sure, he should not be even the PS for Education, there are so many professors in Kenya if this is the criterion for selection. By the way was there any fees paid as you allege? I think now you can take him to the police since you have fresh evidence.

  • The education system in kenya need a thorough overhaul. Local day secondary schools need to be well equiped and staffed to compete effectively with the giant schools and students who miss vacancies in the 'big' schools and join these local schools would compete on level ground with their counterparts.

  • not right for the gov't to do this im sure if they can steal fpe funds then they can also create afund for needy secondary education aspirants besides bursaries

  • shame shame shame shame Any more kids out of school? shame...shame!

  • same questions I keep asking myself, we have only seen these 2 but how many more will miss out.

  • Now i have seen the boy from pokot am happy but as you say how many more bright kids will miss chances to go to high School
