This couple clearly has communication issues, he was not listening when she expressed her unhappiness about the way he does things within the relationship. She wants more spontaneity and less monotony, and he apparently heard monogamy which sounds similar, but in no way means the same thing. He basically thought she gave him permission to cheat, now they have a much bigger problem!

I have a hard time feeling sorry for girls that end up with guys like this or any guy of the -I'm obviously an asshole- persuasion. I think they do it on purpose to have a reason to get out because they really don't want commitment just an excuse to be loose... or because drama makes them feel special and gives them, something to talk about.

Actually, breaking the monogamy was one way to break the monotony, so technically he did what she asked, even if unintentionally. Plus now she can make her girlfriends jealous telling them she's hooked a player. Win-win situation, really.
