Nash is better overall. Not to take anything from Williams who is exciting to watch. Just ask ESPN. They ranked Nash as the 9th best point guard of all time.
Jason Williams = excellent. Steve Nash = 2 MVP's. Kevin McHale, James Worthy, Alex English, Scottie Pippen, Patrick Ewing, John Stockton & many others never got an MVP. It means something. But I've never seen a 'behind the back' like Jason Williams. Not even from Magic.
@dave474c sir no offense, but all those ppl that you named were on teams with mvp'ers sir scottie(jordan 5 mvps) mchale(bird 3 mvps) worthy (kareem 6 mvps, magic 3 mvps) so please don't make it seem like mvps are easy to come by when you got other talented ppl on your team
Nash - 14.4 ppg, 8.1 assists a game. He shoots 49%, 43% from deep, 90% from the line for his career... 13,659 points, 7,658 assists. Playoff stats - 17.3 ppg, 8.7 assists a game.
J-Will - 11.3 ppg, 6.2 assists, 40% from the field, 33% from deep, 81.5% at the line. Career - 7,782 points, 4310 assists. Playoffs - 9.8 ppg, 3.7 assists.
Nash has 7 games with 20 assists or more(Williams career high is 19.) Also Nash had 23 in a playoff game, just one off the record.
True, but he also has more rings than Barkley, Stockton, Malone, and others... Kerr said he'd trade his career for Nash's anyday, and I bet Robert Horry would rather be Barkley or even Kemp in his prime. It's hard for a point guard to lead his team to the Finals and win it(Magic is the only point guard who could since he could play every position.)
of course nash is better. WAY better but I dont think Horry would want to be anybody else becuz of the fact that he had the privilege to play with the greatest laker team ever and he actually helped them win with his big time shots
the main reason why the Laker team with Magic was so great is bcuz of Jabar's ability to pass the ball to cutter/slashers. When your big man (like shaq/KG/Duncan/Gasol) knows how to pass to a cutting forward or guard like Ariza, it spreads the court for the shooters
You might be right about Horry... Magic even said it wasn't Nash's fault. As did Barkley one season, where he said, "your toughest player who wants it most can't be the smallest guy on your team." Probably a rip at Amare who gets thrown under the bus so often... the guy comes back from horrible injuries, and stays in great shape, but people hate.
Of course the Kings had so many big men who could pass, and somehow the Lakers made it passed them.
its because Amare is an overrated All star.. he would be nobody without steve nash.. just like malone with no stockton, Kenyon Martin without Kidd, Boozer when he didn't have Williams...
also Amare forgot how to play defense after his first injury and he is also short (6"10) to be the biggest guy for his team. Odom is practically taller than him and he's a PF/SF..
I hate to say this, but you're right. He's a freak with talent, but lives off Nash. Nash makes guys like Channing Frye and the crappy Lopez dominant in games at times. Just like he brought Tim Thomas back from the dead in 06... also made Raja Bell a decent scorer.
I don't wanna give up on Amare, but maybe great point guards don't win, just get overrated players huge contracts.
Well, Bird and Pistol have him beat... but Nash does shit that amazes me. I remember when he and Dirk got booed.... now honestly I knew Dirk would be great, but not Nash.
Takes heart, work ethic, and all that... to be what he is. He's like Stockton but fun to watch. Just wish he played a lil D... it doesn't kill Kidd.
I miss how Nash and Dirk played together(when Finley and Van Exel were balling.) It wasn't a straight fast break usually, it was run and gun. The Bulls had Horace Grant and aging Rodman, but true. They also Pippen who didn't want to be the guy so he did the dirty work(with a great coach manipulating every player.)
And people forget, but Laimbeer wasn't bad... 5 time all-star right? He had 6 straight seasons where he wasn't a slouch...he was a thug, but not a slouch.
yes laimbeer wasnt bad for at least 5 seasons but not a hall of fame kinda guy like Duncan or Shaq or Olajuwon Jabbar, etc. hes more of like an Elton Brand or Jermaine Oneal kinda all star.. he was decent for a short time in his career but he became garbage like how Brand and J.O. is right now
Haha... I wouldn't say he became garbage. He just wasn't that skilled, and somehow managed some great years. He's the type of guy who ages horribly unlike big men like Duncan and Dirk. If Hansborough ever manages a career, he'll age the same way. Might have 1 or 2 great seasons(I doubt it), but will drop off fast.
J.O.... well... that guy got injured too many times. Brand, I have no idea what happened to him.
haha well J.O. and Brand never developed the passing ability big men should have.. without the passing ability they became very predictable and easy to guard.. unlike duncan.. when you guard him.. you never know if he's going to make a power move, spot up for a bank shot, pass it to a wide open bowen for 3, or pass it to a cutting manu ginobli. if you guard Brand or J.O. all you need to do is put a body on him and not worry about the others around you
J.O. just started to develop that when injuries destroyed his career. Remember how Portland really impeded his progress(for what I believe was 4 years.) Dwight Howard can't pass either, and I think he's the reason they didn't beat the Lakers.
Duncan is also really humble and unselfish. Few guys in the league are like that anymore.
steve nash is one of the best but come on jason williams just was to good but steve nash is still really really good jason williams was not scareed to do anything on the court the crazy shit wooo.

every championship team in the last 30 years have a Hall of Fame caliber big man except
Bulls but they had Mr. Michael Jordan so that shouldn't be part of the equation.
Pistons with Thomas and Dumars but they had Rodman and Laimbeer to back that up
and Now Lakers with Kobe and Gasol (but Gasol and Bynum are still young and can still be Hall of Famers by the end of their careers IF they improve
