@Antrizzle2009 that argument holds no water. i looove deck. but i know for every verse from deck, i can find a verse from someone else thats fire.
and consistency means little to me. gza puts out his own product. ghost had a 5 album deal. dont blame him for not being exposed on the samw level.
i honestly think masta killa spit darts that most people miss. he gets faulted for being too deep. and i never heard meth come wack on any album or solo track.
Literally every Ghost album has been fire except for this last one. Never heard Meth come out with a wack album? Do you have Tical 0? Hell even Judgment Day was weak. Way too many skippable tracks on there. Plus on Blackout 2 he was clearl out-shined by Redman. GZA always puts out hot shit meanwhile.
For one, that shit had way too many skits on there. That got annoying as hell. Two, the shit had much more of a commercial sound to it, not like the grimey dark-sound from Tical. And yes there were a few weak tracks on it. It's universally recognized as a dissapointing effort by Meth. He made up for it when the first Blackout album came out tho.
@Antrizzle2009 funny, you didnt name a weak song. and that project was 6 years after his last one. i would hate for anyone to sound the same 6 years later. MC's evolve as they get older. blackout wasnt a solo album. that doesnt count. i let judgement day play and i never skip a track.
Judgement Day came out in '98, 4 years after Tical, not 6. I understand evolving, but he completely went away from his style with that apocalyptic shit he was doin on there. I guess it wasn't wack, but it wasn't Tical, or anything near as good as what we had come to expect from Meth. Dude was one of the best MC's in the game in the mid 90's and to be me that album was the beginning of him falling off.
@Antrizzle2009 what else could he have done different? i think back to judgement day and im trying to find a solo album that was better in that era. maybe redmans "docs the name", or dmx "its dark and hell is hot", but not much better was coming during that time.
nothing blew that away back then. i would have bought that album for "perfect world" alone. add "torture", "killing fields", and every track in between. i honestly cant find a wack song on that CD. it gets better each time
Maybe the tracks weren't wack but none of them blew me away the way shit on Tical did. Sweet Love, Party Crasher, Step By Step, Elements, etc... these are average tracks at best. If he would have gotten rid of all the skits, and cut it down to like 13-14 tracks, I'd say it woulda been a very good album.
tical was a classic album. how many MCs can follow up a classic with a classic?
tical was new raw and original on some grimey shyt. but you got a good ear. the tracks you named were the weakest on the album. when the last time you been blew away by anybody? his shit dont blow me away either.
I'm really feelin everybody in Slaughterhouse right now. They seem to be the top dudes out right now. Royce's album is fire. Juelz about to drop as well. I heard Blackstar bout to come back with a group album. It's some cats still doin it big lyrically that's for sure.
@Antrizzle2009 I agree to with you to a certain extent, When I first heard Judgementday in 98 I wasn't feelin it that much, but as time passed by I started to love that album. I say Meth started to fall off when he dropped Tical: 0 The Prequel, cause he was still the shit until 2003.
Yea he totally messed up on that album. He went for the album sales and that's just not him. He blamed Puff for that flop but truth is, Def Jam has never done a good job promoting him as a solo artist, even tho he was one of their major acts in the 90's.
you might think so but i stand by my opinion. Inspecta Deck is the illest when it comes to flow, lyrics, punch lines u name it. he is my favourite from wu tang
What i never got was that even in this song thay say that you cant party your life away drink your life away etc. but thay do instead thay should keep doing music together i thought thay would of stay united even stronger even after odb's death.
....and by other mediums not just tv or movies .. like I'd love to see INS become a novelist, Masta Killa a preacher, Gza a professor of poetry with his own nobel prize .. why can't the Gza write the next Great American Novel ?.. they aren't kids anymore.. I hope their talent was just used by us to smoke dope and bob our heads to
Wu-Tang Clan isn't "fading out". We know they're real hip hop poets. I agree they can do other things, but true Hip Hop is a legitimate art form of music.
I think the shame with the Wu Tang Clan, is they couldn't transform this into other mediums.. a few members, Rza and Meth. worked in film, tv.. But as serious artists, all 9 members are very talented poets.. just a pity to see them fade out

@Antrizzle2009 All these tracks (Sweet Love, Party Crasher, Step By Step, Elements) are well-above average. Get real.

He blamed Puff for that flop but truth is, Def Jam has never done a good job promoting him as a solo artist, even tho he was one of their major acts in the 90's.

....and by other mediums not just tv or movies .. like I'd love to see INS become a novelist, Masta Killa a preacher, Gza a professor of poetry with his own nobel prize .. why can't the Gza write the next Great American Novel ?.. they aren't kids anymore..
