Yeah, have been telling Irish mates for years that it is Salford that the song is about. I love the way, bagpuss, you say auto-milked. .. Nothing wrong with it. However, in Limerick we say, or at least would have said about over 30 years ago, 'milking by hand'.... its funny..but the irish have made this song there own..the dubliners, the pogues, but two bands giving this song the merit it deserves,,,its ironic..i am from m/c! next door to salford!...and the song is almost unheard of in this area...people here have forgot there culture..and like so many other cultures have succumbed to banal, pop music , u know the music used to help cows relax when being auto milked!!..may the irish keep there culture intact for their grandchildren..sadly ours is lost!!
