  • If I had one as a pet, I'd want it to kill mice and other pest around the house <3

  • They have a venom. It is an anesthetic. They then gnaw flesh off the prey.

  • They aren't really spiders; they're more closely relatd to scorpions.

  • @zog10042

No. They are spiders. It's an arachnid. Scorpions are viviparous.

  • I saw these in Oman while in the Air Force. Beleive me they are the ugliest, fastest spider I've ever seen though not actually a spider..Check out those mandibles, I feel sorry for anyone getting bit by one of these..

  • @nimbusthenoodle

Holy blip!! And things normally look smaller as I get older! X¬D

  • It's a cool animal. Really different to anything we get here in the UK. My old man caught one years ago back in Aden ( Botton left corner of Saudi Arabia) He trapped it by putting a recently finnished tobacco tin over it. He made holes in the lid, then got the lid on the tin. When he released the beastie in the morning, it had chewed up all the aluninium oil and left it in little balls all round the tin. It ran like F**K and disappeared into a gap in the garden wall. 10 mph top speed!?

  • i was in mojave desert and when i went to sleep i left my riding boots outside of the toy hauler and when i woke up in the morning i was getting ready to go for a ride when i noticed a lump that i popped in my boots i thought maybe one of our paintballs when i take my boot off and when i look i see this amber mass and i knock it out the sunuvabitch is dead and squashed i thought the mother fucker was poisonous till i found i what it was i just though what if that fucker bit me while i was riding

  • Man i wanted a scorpion....until i found these! It says they cnt be controlled, nor would i want to....but man if i could thatd be way sick!

  • @Meatwad8888 no bro they say they are actually a domesticated spider ill look for a link and let ya read about them but it said that u can actually call to them and they come to you lol i wouldnt know but im in arizona so was looking them up

  • ive actually killed one of these,i think,it was big, maybe about 4-5 inches long,i live in pahrump nevada,i dont want to go back to that house anytime soon.creepy critters.

  • Why'd you kill it?

  • @jded7 Your brave killing a poor dumb animal

It's not any great achievement to brag about

  • Oh people grow up!! They are beneficial to the environment. They're of the arachnids family. They eat all the nasty pests like crickets, earwigs, roaches, or what have you.

  • how big r they, they look like theyre 15 inch, now im not tht scared of spiders but id drop dead if id see that1 near me

  • @uarer4ngedxx

About 3 inches from the back legs to the tip of the 'pedipalps' at the front.

  • can you eat them?

  • these things r sooooo gnarly ive seen em in real life before and their huuuuge! as big as a grown mans hand no joke! google camel spider bite if your interested and you will see how dangerous thses things can be

  • that thing is the devil

  • That looks enormous how big is that beast i'm not scared of spiders but if that jump on me i would shit a brick. cool music for the vid.

  • camal spiders in iraq can grow to be 10 in long. in the US and Mexico they only grow t be about an inch or so

  • I live in a desert-like climate in Northern California and we have these nasty little fuckers. I've found several in and on my house.

  • thats fucking terrifying. C-A-L-I-F-O-R-N-I-A....there...added to my list of places never to return to

  • @108OneOhEight

Anywhere hot and mostly dry all year round could have them. ;-)

  • how big is he?

  • She was about 6 inches in length

  • BrRrRrRrRrrr so frightened

  • Oh man.. forgot what I was watching halfway through the moment the John Williams started playing.

  • i heard that camel spiders are actually very calm and they're only viciuos when they sense danger, like any other spider. i also heard they can jump up to 10 feet in the air, its kinda creepy. i guess they hide under camel stomaches and suck the blood out of them until they die.

  • man forget that

  • dude thes things arnt in massacusettes right

  • probably not they're usually found in southwest america. but even then they're not common.

  • southwest america? where's that? like arizona and nevada? places like that?

  • LOL! No.

  • no there in the middle east

  • There in the middle east yes. But you can find solfugids in California too. I guess in southwest america where its real dry and hot. I see these things all over the place here. The ones here arent poisonous though. THANK GOODNESS. They just give you a bite that stings.

  • i cought one of these there bad ass i love watching him kill shit

  • the solifugid species can only reach the speed of 1 mph. Many myths have been made about them running up to even 25 mph, but they're not true. They do love to chase flashlights at night and shadows during the day. <3 I have one

  • Where'd you get it? I want one so bad but no matter what I try I either can't find one or I find it dead in my pool.

  • Actually, Some of the larger species in the middle east have been known to run at speeds close to 10mph.

  • now i knwo where ridely scott got his ideas for the facehugger models in alien.

i love spiders to bits but that is truly the most terrifying thing ive ever seen. ive woken up in tanzania with a baboon spider on my arm (fecking scary in the dark) but id have that again any day compared to having this thing anywhere near me

soliders in afgahnistan i salute you lol

  • thats no spider. thats a facehugger

  • Game over man! Game over!

  • @vfxmasterorin indeed!

  • @vfxmasterorin alien vs. predator. AGREED

  • That spider would kick Bruce's ass. (Jaws' Shark)

  • its 1 of th jaws theme tunes

  • they really go 10 mph? wow thats fast. they must be some hunters.

  • yeah thats REALLY fast considering thats between the average humans jogging speed of 8 miles an hour and running speed of 13 miles an hour..

thats HELLA fast for something the size of your Palm

  • name of song please

  • man these camel spiders are ugly ugly things.

  • shiveries

  • may i know the background music used in this video?

  • lol are u serious? u cant recognize it? not sure the official true name of the song, but its from Jaws

  • king kong (1933) and jaws

  • glad the ones here in AZ don't get that big!

would not want to wakeup next to it!

  • If they did....I would move.

  • they are about 22 cm ( about the size of a dinner plate)

i think , the biggest having a leg span of perhaps 12 centimeters (5 in)[2].

this particular species does appear to possess venom, but they did some study , and are still not to sure how deadly there venom is ...they also nearly half as fast as the fastest human sprinter.

  • crud that looks like those spider things from Cloverfield...

  • shit! it's a facehugger! ...save ya face!

  • aww how cute

  • then why does my son still have a hole in his gut and was sick to the point of being hospitalized after returning from iraq.

  • Ouch! Must have got infected.

  • for some reason it reminds me of the face huggers in aliens.

  • lmao

  • just got out of afghanistan home from war . and camel spiders are big (some of them) and they are not venom its only there hair that has a bit of venom but u dont get sick from them . u can eat the behind of the spider wich has allot of protien

  • Just curious, what do they taste like?

  • chicken

  • hahahaha

  • A couple of buddies and I caught one of these things under a drip pan in Iraq, guys, these things REALLY are freakin huge! Some of the smaller ones you see on youtube here are just smaller ones. We caught one of the big ones! And night time was the only time that you're really able to catch them. They don't move around during the daytime, just stay under the rocks and barriers out there, but they're scary! They hiss!lol for real

  • its like something you'd expect to see in a horror film

  • cool vid. epic music!

  • THE FACTS

    1. Camel spiders top speed - appox. 10 mph. Which is very fast.

    2. Size: Up to 6 inches although many ppl report larger.

    3. They have no venom.

    4. They don't jump. However, many ppl describe them leaping onto their legs, etc..

    5. Called camel spiders because they live in the desert.

They actually aren't spiders at all, they're solpugids.. Along with spiders, they are members of the class Arachnida.

  • They're called Camel Spiders because they will hide in the carcass of a dead Camel & lie in wait for smaller prey to come along. Intelligent beings.

  • (1/2) Some common Camel Spider Myths:

    1. Camel spiders can move at speeds over 30 MPH, screaming while they run.

    2. Camel spiders can be as large as a frisbee.

    3. Camel spiders venom is an anesthetic that numbs their prey.

    4. Camel spiders can jump three feet high.

    5. Camel spiders get their name because they eat the stomachs of camels.

    6. They eat or gnaw on people while they sleep. Due to the numbing effect of their venom, the victim is unaware until they awake.

  • if anybody has seen the picture of the soldier holding the camel spider is really a picture of two camel spiders attached to one another and held out in front of the soldier to make it appear larger than it really is.

  • those pincers have to hurt

  • FFFFUUUUCCCCKKK that

    i hate spiders

  • :|..

  • Say im an idiot but i want to eat one!

  • SO BADLY i want to put one in a room with pure sunlight eveyrwhere rofl...

  • nice vid

camel spiders are neat little creatures, id love to kill whoever started all those crazy rumors of camel spiders being "dangerous"...their almost HARMLESS, except they CAN give you a nice hard bite, but they have no venom, so your not likely to die from it or even get REMOTELY sick

  • well, solifugid bites are prone to infection, so you could get sick from a bite.

  • Very true! Nasty ol bite!

  • have you ever been bitten?

  • Dude! Nice video! I was just checkin these guys out on Google.

  • their bite is sapose to be like novacaine, hurts at first then gets numb or tingley

  • That's a common misconception. They actually carry no venom of any kind.

  • then im guessing it just hurts like a motherfucker lol

  • Cool

  • JAWS SPIDERS!!!!! =]

  • Oh yes!

  • was the music really that nessisary?

  • what is this movie designed to scare the shit out of people. i swear if i was a little kid this would have made me shit my pants.

  • i guess i don't have arachnophobia, but i am afraid of arachnids.

but it's interesting to see how huge these things are.

  • I have arachnophobia, and those things are NOT COOL.

  • Love the music! Ha ha my mum just told me a funny story. When my dad was working in Saudi the bomb alert went so all the men went to the bomb shelter. When they got down there one of the guys saw a massive camel spider across the room and they all ran out the shelter!! Rather be bombed than sit in a dark bunker with one of those monsters!lol

  • Great story! HAH!

  • i would too lol.

  • hahaha love the music

  • theyre emo spiders.... lol

  • Brighton UK

  • where was this filmed?

  • what happened

  • I just had two of these bugs in my house today.

  • Holy shit

  • where you live?(what country or sate)

  • i would have burned the house even though they are not really dangerous^^

  • dang it look like an ant lion

  • they get VERY VERY big, head size

  • Why do I watch this stuff in the dark right before I go to sleep? WHY?!

  • lol when u said like they give chase at the begging i started craking up!!XD lol i imagined a fat kid running away scared for his life crying just because the spider wanted to relax in his huge shadow the kid not knowing it was chaseing the shadow and not his lardy fatness

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! omg thats the funniest thing ever!!!!!!!!

  • lol

  • I am incredibly freaked out yet fascinated by these creatures...

  • aka sun scorpion but which is it a scorpion or spider make up ur mind!!!!!! (whoever discovered it)

  • its neither... its in the same family as them tho ... its an arachnid

  • yes same family, but differnt order

  • how big is that spider in the vid

  • She woz about 5 inches long

  • OMG anyone whos every played abes oddysee will agree with me when i say they look like paramites... scary ass spiders!

  • Camel spiders very rarely ever attack a human. Many humans accusing them of "chasing them and trying to attack them." But really they just want the shade... your shadow. They don't mean no harm to you just standing there.

  • BULLSHIT, man! BULLSHIT! They'sa hongrayyy! They will attack ANY moving object that remotely tastes like a life form! Take it from a guy who's been there!

  • Really cool animals. Didn't even know they existed...:-)

  • Very informative and well made. I like the music too.
