  • Supposedely, this movie didn;'t do well at the bxo-office in it's theatrical run, but when shown on TV in early 1964, it got huge ratings, which led producer Irwin Allen to adapt it into a TV series

    One of the few cases of a TV series spinning-off from a movie that was far, far more successful than the movie it was based on.
