Ha, the comentators ACTUALY thought that Cambell could beat tufte in the last 500.

Tufte just doesn't look as strong in the races as he was at athens. He has higher rate, but not as much send. Campbell is just a powerhouse, his efficiency is improving, but still the worst of the field. Drysdale has the fastest body opening, thats where he gets his send. Even when he goes above 40, Drysdales boat stays impossibly horizontal, though I am still not a fan of his blade depth at the catch. Synec is so accurate at the catch, his technique is the best for sprinting.

synek is terrific..he will be excellent in the future, he has a lot of rowing to do..but the commentators barely noticed him..face it!! alan campbell just ins't that good!!

You are correct!!!! It seems in most of the heavy 1x videos on u-tube the commentators ignore Synek. He got a Silver in the 2008 Olympics. His start is quick -- but his finishing sprint is unreal. I feel he has the best form of any of these scullers. Tufte's form is almost as good. Again, they always get caught up with alan Cambell, they barely even mentioned Synek and he got second place with an unreal finishing sprint

I agree, and I do give credit to campbell, he's always there in the finals, always in the race for the medal not far behind..however, synek has far less experience and yet he has achieved more than campbell with still much races to row..but I repeat, I know that campbell is a great single sculler, it's just that synek happens to be better :D

How do you think has the best sculling form? Tufte, Mahe, Campell, Sonnenberg, Hacker, Synek, Synek has the most efficient form because he can raise the rate at the end and gain significantly on his rivals. However, with Tufte winning the last 2 Olympics his form is almost as good as Synek -- Tufte is just much stronger in the middle 1000. Drysdale generally rows well for the first 1500 but tends to rush his slide in the last 500 and depleats his run. Please comment!! ED

hmm..I would have to say synek and tufte..tufte isn't so good through the whole season, but he is the best when he has to be, at the Olympics, while synek is at his best almost all the time, but still not better than olaf..as for mahe, his sculling is looks more like bare strenght..he is very powerful and it puts him in front of the others, but he rarely wins with a finish..

@empt60 synek doesn't sprint as well as tufte. Watch the 2004 olympics and you'll see unreal sprinting

@ChadAndrewsLovesGod I totally agree and of course I know of that famous tufte 2004 sprint, but I never said that synek is a good sprinter and I certainly do not mean it. He is good througout the whole race, and his result rarely depends on bursts. I do agree about olaf's sprinting abilities, and I greatly respect him for that, 2004 single at the olympics is one of my favourite races of them all.

@empt60 oops sorry i think i may have replied to the wrong person, but yes Tufte is definitely amazing. Synek is good and will be for a while. I'm curious to see if Tufte has something hidden from everyone, saving himself for 2012.

@ChadAndrewsLovesGod Me too, I can't wait for London. It always looks as his Olympic season isn't quite going the way he expects it to, and then he comes on strong in the final where he proves everyone wrong. A most bizarre strategy, but apparently very effective.

@empt60 I think its a good strategy cause people start to underestimate you then you catch them off guard and they have had no time to prepare a game plan against you, so there is a mind game involved haha

Again,the commentators ignore O Senak of the CHECh Republic. His form is the best he got a Silver in the 2008 Games. He is the future of Single Sculling.....
