  • poor horse!!!!! :( :(

  • Disgusting asshole of a wannabe man

  • That's not verry nice poor horse. Good luck having his trust

  • He just did what he thought would work to win. Probably wasn't the best idea but it worked

  • @cycoleman ok yes u have a good point but he did it over and over again. Jockeys do use the whip but they don't whip a horse 12 times in one length do they! He did it excessively going to one jump!

In my opinion the guy is an ass and what he did was wrong.

  • @tomacsrubin Yah and he was wrong for doing it and he couldn't ride for 6 months he's riding our grandprixs horse now but i do agree and he should not have done that it was not right and i see were your coming from

  • in the USEF rules it says that you are only supposed to hit the horse 3 times in a row and obviously that didnt happen... 12 times in unacceptable

  • this is not how to get a horse to jump this it how to be curl to horse

  • That horse should have bucked the guy off!! Seriously, did the judge not say anything? They need to seriously tighten the rules!

  • @StarPinoful ya he got suspended for 6 months for it

  • What a spoiled little man. He hit his horse at least a dozen times in anger after pitching a hissy fit and throwing all his toys out of the pram. So long as the criticism keeps raining down on him, perhaps he should consider building himself an ark.

  • If I were the judge I would ask him to leave the ring. Jumping is meant to show off the trust in the horse/rider team, that the horse would jump over anything for the rider basically. That is NOT what's happening here at all. If I did that to my eventing horse I would be off imediately, and he is very sweet and honest.

  • great use of the whip, i enjoy riding these way also...punishing my horse so hard with my whip or cruel spurs if it behaves badly, i love to abuse my horse

  • @jineteelegante weirdo

  • omg is just horripilant that guy sucks , poor horse this is a shame

  • I'm sorry but I just loled at that. The horse didn't want to jump the smallest jump there but hey we can go jump the big ones. The rider did behave horribly, but from the end of the video it looks like the horse survived the round. Not so sure about the rider afterwards from your comments it seems a lot of you want to maul him. Rightly so. :)

  • AAAAAARGH D8 THAT POOR HORSE. Look at that dumbass flapping around on his back. Of course he refused the jump! ;n; Way to be a douchebag, douchebag. :CC

  • i see wat he did was wrong and hes sorry for it hes riding my traaniers horses and he knows was he did was wrong and he got suspended for it hes a really nice guy i can tell u that and not trying to start in argument and sorry for the spelling

  • its a good job that horse is so honest, otherwise he would be totally fucked. although i wish he'd fallen off into the water.

  • Maybe this is his compensation for not having the balls to fight with something that can think and give it back. Gutless prick. This horse is bloody honest and willing :/

Obviously the horse didn't deserve it and the dicks who are saying he did, you're just as bad as him.

  • This idiot is a complete disgrace to the equestrian world. His poor horse was doing his job and I can't blame him for stopping. How on earth was the horse supposed to know where to go? He wasn't even pointed at the jump! And this idiot rider goes and beats the crap out of him! The sad thing is the horse didn't react like most would to beatings like that. Looks like he's used to paying the price for his rider's mistakes :/

  • that was crapppp. I get if you want to smack them once, whatever, thats what a crop is for. but to do it excessively is just effing pointless. Good job looking like a complete asshole.

  • he didnt even steer the horse to the jump!

  • Its one thing to beat a horse when it refuses, but another to do it at a world class event in front of thousands of viewers. Not smart bud.

  • @scottsmyluver24 What the hell has viewers got to do with this?!

It's the horses welfare overall that's important whether it's at a local county fair or the olympics. I don't give a flying fuck. This man is a tosser and should be kicked out!

  • @ShowjumpingChick94 I never said what he did was right, im saying that he has balls to do this with so many people watching. Can you please read next time?

  • @scottsmyluver24 Sweetie, I DO read.

He had noballs if he's picking on this horse. You are completely wrongg.

  • @ShowjumpingChick94 how am I completely wrong, your honestly retared. Im saying that he has balls to do that with so many people watching, you disagree with that? Im not refering to the fact that he beat the horse, im saying its really stupid to do it with everyone watching him.If your telling me im wrong then that means that you believe it was smart of him to do it in front of people, which would lead me to believe that you need mental help.

  • @scottsmyluver24 Yes, if I'm retarded that's why I'm more punctuate than you baha.

Yeah I do. It's plain stupidity not balls. You just lied by saying that you were saying he was stupid, because you said he had balls. You just contradicted yourself XD

You saying he's stupid is correct, I agree with you there but stupidity doesn't mean you have balls. Now YOU need mental help if you think that :P

  • @ShowjumpingChick94 Im not comparing the words, i know they mean different things -____-

Someone who has balls (in my opinion) is someone who does something that will get people upset but is gutty enough to do it anyway.

p.s. this is not an argument over who has better grammer, so why the fuck would I care!

  • @scottsmyluver24 You just changed what you said is what I'm saying.

Yes, I agree with that definition however I don't think he even thought about it that way, he was just pissed.

    Anyway, cbf arguing anymore aha

  • I understand someone hittin there horse on the butt once or twice to show them "hey , you need to move over this jump alright?" but thats when you usually apporach the jump . I do it to my horse when she refuses to show im the boss & she needs to do it . What hes doing is ruuuuuuude . but i dont think it hurt the horse ?

  • okay this stuff happens!!! yes i feel bad for the horse and he got a bit far carried away! but that is the way he rides.. there are some shit riders and good riders and this is how he rides so GET OVER IT!!

  • @2stridesalltheway ok... we are talking about it because its on the internet... like me. I'm just seeing for the first time so I want to comment on it. It's a little childish to tell people to "get over it". ;)

  • That's disgusting. I hope he's banned for life but apparently he's related to "higher-ups" in the showjumping world.

  • @CodynAlexandra He was given a 3 month ban and this is supposedly out of character for him.

  • that horse didn't deserve that.:( he was going so well. If he'd ridden more forwardly the horse would never have refused. :[

but Morrissey got what was coming to him afterwards :)

  • @cwmbriddech You could see him trying to get the horse forward 5 strides away, wasnt his fault it refused.

  • @scottsmyluver24 actually, he rode very poorly, with a weak and crooked approach and any other horse probably would have stopped too.

  • @kadyhobbins The main reason why he hits the horse is because it started to back off and run out 6 strides before, which is plain rude. cleary the horse has jumped many water jumps before, so it didnt need to do that.

Im not saying what Michael did is right, but remember how extemely well treated this horse it. I dont think Michael deserves the rep hes getting, he made a mistake and on interviews he feels terrible.

  • What a prick.

  • I can't beleive that -- an article about this vid was in a magazine, and I just wanted to see if they were exhaggerating his whip usage, they were definatley not. Personally I dont carry whips, but I can understand hitting him once when he refused it, but hitting him a stupid and unessacary amount of times, I just can't get my head around it. What the hell was this guy thinking?

  • SORRY BUT THAT'S NO DIFFERENT TO WHAT A HORSE RACING JOCKEY DOES TO GET HIS HORSE TO THE FINISH LINE FIRST....SO WHY THE BIG DEAL IN SHOWJUMPING? EITHER BAN IT IN ALL EQUESTRIAN DISCIPLINES OR SHUT UP!!!

  • @cycoleman can I just say. In racing thhey are allowed to hit their horse a total of 3 times. They wave the whip up and down past their eyes to make them go faster, not hitting them. The rider in this video had no right to do that to his horse. He was being very inconsiderate and riding badly.

  • @cycoleman That's exactly what I thought. Why can jockeys do it?????

  • thats awful! one slap right before the jump would have been plenty!!

  • if any one noticed but he was pointing his horse the to standard! of course the horse wont jump it! proven example of the horse being smarter than the rider. also it looks as if this horse is being used to hit like that

  • Horses should never be treated like that. We are stealing their freedom! We're punishing them for being horses when their trusting their instinct; to run. We will never get a natural, healthy horse back, but a "robothorse" that so many adores because it's doing what it's told to; To be a object for humans, to carry us around on their backs and jump fences bigger than themselves. How did we become so selfish and cruel? ? Get the f*ck off that horse dude. You dont belong there.

  • Bastard - he deserves to be whipped himself - see how he likes it.

  • I think there was nothing wrong with this, listen people, you wanna fall off and break your neck or back? Probably not, you people are retarded, I'd rather cause my horse a little pain then cause myself a new life in a wheel chair...what do you think?

You guys go ahead and break your neck, I'm gonna make sure mine doesnt refuse.

  • @RockieEdward Awful - poor riding caused this, not any fault of the horse. You should NEVER inflict pain intentionally on your horse, and should be ashamed to suggest such a thing.

  • @RockieEdward and you think it's the horse's job to carry you around and jump whatever you want him to jump? Sure they can do that, but forcing a horse to do something is never the best way. Teach him how to deal with scary objects, take it slow and show him how to be calm and relaxed :) You will notice the change when he sees that he has a choice, and if you let him,he will eventually choose to stay with you. You are his friend and his leader, and he will trust you to take decitions for him.

  • @RockieEdward well seeing as asking s horse to jump anything....especially at the grand prix level, is optional. he could have chosen to not ask the horse until its is ready. seems like human pride and stubbornness wind up breaking more neaks then anything. it was obviously easier for him to loose his temper then to chose to exit the ring. i bit of crop to back up your leg is fine but if you have to hit the horse that many times something isnt right

  • @gemtwist49 okay you all need to get over this thing!1 It happened and there is nothing you can do about it so quite talking about it!!! and that horse is better than a ny horse you have!!!!!!

  • That is just awful to watch! i hate that the horse dont kick him of! he shuldent be aloved to ride in kompetisions with that behavioer(sorry the bad english)

  • FUCK YOU STUPID BASTARD!!!!!

we ride because we love horses not only because we want to jump!! if you want to jump you can do it on your own!

    Aei sto diaolo paliomalaka! PSOFOS!!!!!

  • I've jumped horses and I can tell you that the severe stress that their INNOCENT nervous systems are subjected to in both training and at the higher levels of competition CANNOT be rightly justified. In one word it is INHUMANE. The Beautiful God their Creator is not pleased. Who among you cares? Comments?

  • that´s how to treat an unobedient horse.

  • @Sporenreiter that's how to treat a dumbass like you.

  • @Sporenreiter Only a dumbass who can't ride and doesn't understand horses would make such a comment. This rider is a disgrace and should've been banned for longer than 3 months.

  • Dude, could you beat the horse some more? You only hit him 15 times in 10 seconds.

  • POS obviously doesn't know that "quiet" riding is synonymous with "correct" riding. Rather than just suspending him like they've done, they should've also whacked him 13 times with a riding stick. See how he liked it.

  • The horse should've bucked him off.

  • The horse is more professional than he. The horse refused due to his error in not setting up correctly. Again he is supposed to be a professional and be able to handle a refusal in a professional way. Also unprofessional of the ring judges who should be dismissed for not ejecting him immediately. The fact that he contests the disqualification says volumes. This isn't about horsemanship it's about ego, power and money.

  • One thing I'd also add is that, in my professional & personal opinion, it's never okay to inflict pain on a horse unless it's in self defense. The only danger this rider was in was in danger of losing. From a training perspective I also agree with a previous post that whipping a horse (especially as it's coming towards a jump) does nothing for its self confidence. Although winning is the goal for many eventers, it's not an admirable goal when it's at the expense of the horse (as in this case).

  • To @tenter07 (& whoever thinks the whipping didn't hurt the horse 'that bad')- I'm an equine physical therapist. A comment I often get is 'you must have to lay into a horse for them to feel body work' This is incorrect. Horses are PREY animals, have parasympathetic nervous systems, & are more sensitve to touch than we are (it has nothing to do with their size). If a fly lands on their croup they feel it. Not judging the rider- the FEI did that- but I do believe the horse felt pain from this.

  • bad horsemanship i understand that u give them maybe a cuple of smaks if they refuse to say hey u have to go over but u dont have to hit them like that

  • This "rider" should have been banned from showing horses forl life. He's suppose to be a "professional" What an outrage...............

  • @cowgirlmontgomery , the other outrage is that he is only suspended for 3 months from showing and has to pay a $3,000 fine. He should be suspended for 3 years. I hope the owners took that horse away from him and no other owners will give him any. What an ass.

  • Hurray for the FEI which disqualified him from WEG! And "Boos" to the ground jury who should have stopped him cold but didn't.

From the FEI: "Morrissey and Crelido should have been eliminated immediately from the competition by the ground jury," Lalo said in his statement. "The fact that he was not immediately disqualified places the Tribunal in a very difficult position of having to cure the ground jury's error a considerable time following the event."

  • Yes, I would prefer that this guy was banned forever. Disgusting - he is beating that horse with his whip in total anger. 13 times!

  • SHAME on Michael Morrissey! He should be severely sanctioned. This is poor horsemanship and reflects badly on the sport. I have to agree with Jessispy...what does this man really do when he's ALONE with his horse?

  • His whip is the crutch he uses because he cannot ride. Permanent suspension would have been more appropriate.

  • Is Morrissey a good rider? Technically, yes. Is he a horseman? Not even close.

  • I was very happy to read about the disqualification of Morrissey by the FEI, and am now elated after watching the above video!

  • Someone needs to take a break from horses for a bit... collect himself... and figure out why he originally started jumping in the first place. His other videos seem to suggest that he simply lost his patience. I can fully understand using the crop to get the horse to follow-thru. However, 13 times? If it didn't work the first couple of times... you need a different technique.

  • This is a perfect example of someone loving the sport and not the horse itself. He should ride a 4WD or a ATV. They have no feelings. But anything with a heart has feelings. Like someone's comment, why are the jockeys not punished when they whip their horses when reaching the the end of the race?? Why is that accepted? Strange!!!

  • They should whip the snot out of him for beating on that horse.

a Horse responds to someone it respects. Apparently hes not earned the respect he thinks he should have.

i hope they do some checking into this matter and ban him from exercises.

  • Morrissey has hence been disqualified by the FEI.

Morrissey and Crelido should have been eliminated immediately by the ground jury. All members of the ground jury were "formally reprimanded by the FEI for failing to take action".

Morrissey's lawyer later claimed to the FEI that the horse had not been abused because he "showed no signs of distress or injury".

FEI fined Morrissey $1,900, with a three-month retroactive suspension from all FEI events. The USEF fined him $3,000.

  • Having just read Horse and Hound this morning, he has now been handed a 2 month ban for hitting his horse over 13 times! He claims he over reacted!!! If a child at pony club were to to what he did...they would have been banned!!

  • How can a person truly "love" a horse then think it's ok to put them through these types of events.

I'd think many horses are like people in that you can get them to agree to most anything, one way or another, reward or punishment.

Still, I wish Mister Ed could tell us what most horses used for human endeavors actually think about it...

  • I am sorry, I don't approve but this kind of beating looks very similiar to the final stretch in horse racing...why are they not all disqualified?

  • What a pig! It's a shame that he was only suspended for three months.

  • Someone should beat the crap out of him like that and see how he likes it. If he does that in public, wonder what he does at home!! they should do a surprise check on him at home and keep an eye on him-he gives horsepeople a bad name

  • Shame on him. Thank goodness he got a three month suspension- should have been more in my opinion.

  • I really don't see a problem. The horse needed to go forward.

  • Disqualified! YESSSS! Now Morrissey can take some time off for riding lessons...

  • @schoolmarm97 here here!

  • Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG) show jumping horse candidate Crelido, ridden by Michael Morrissey (USA), was abused during a WEG-qualifying event when he was "excessively whipped," and Morrissey has hence been disqualified, according to the statement of the final decision of the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) Tribunal.

  • Title of this video should be "How NOT to get a horse to jump"

  • He should be disqualified ... and horse whipped himself.

  • Check out the recent article on thehorse.com. He's been retroactively reprimanded and suspended (and the FEI admits they should have immediately disqualified him). What in the world were the ground jury doing?

  • its hard to tell from this angle whether is was a bad approach and the horse stopped for good reason, or if it did take an unnesisary (sp?) look at the jump. if the horse was playing up then one smack as he is facing away from the jump, the first one inflicted, is exceptable, but to the conitue hitting as he is turning and then approaching the fence is stupid and cruel! first, 13 whips is OTT, and also to beat a horse as he approaches a fence will do nothing for his confidence!

  • oops, no, I did not agree with tuttlebum. my comments were directed to vixitrixalina. As for someone saying the guy needs riding lessons, did you see how wonderful his seat was as he came in the second time. He is a great rider but as I say, competitive and maybe he has to look at the reason why he is there and sort a few things out. I feel for the guy, I know that within horsey competitve circles, all the really up there competitors will be laughing at the pussy reaction from the public..

  • @tenter07 and the reaction from the governing bodies both at the show and later, says something. They would have been concerned for the sake of the sport and ratings but not for the safety of the horse. Did it flinch? No. The horse would barely have felt that and it was more of a message from the rider of "do it". I am sure thaty a fellow who has reached this level of comp wont allow this to affect him.

  • asshole, poor bloody horse :o(

  • @tuttlebum I agree. The fellow took it out on the horse and I too am not sure that the approach was as bad as it looked from the angle our camera was at because when he came in the second time, it looked similar. I think it is a reflection of competitors who succeed and competitors that dont, that this guy did everything within his emotionally charged power to get that horse over and THATS what makes winners as apposed to all the armchair couch potatoes who have so much to say.

  • Horse-talented- rider- sending wrong signals-

  • "Sorry" doesn't exactly cut it. If he did it once, he's already done it hundreds of times, and will continue to do it. Spoiled fat jerk.

  • This guy should never see, or touch another horse again...

  • Oh get real! What harm could a tiny little whip do to a horses side? Sure, its not the best thing to do when one is on display but for goodness sake. It was more the angle of the camera that made it look like he was approaching the jump on an angle. When he rode into it the second time, it looked similar but he jumped it thru the middle nicely. Its not as though he was punching it in the nose or eye or something or using a lethal weapon! Soft townies should stick to their virtual games.

  • @tenter07 Maybe you should try this "tiny little whip" on your side. Or maybe someone else should try it on you. I'd really like to hear your opinion about it after this.

  • @tenter07 Maybe you should try this tiny little whip on your side. Or maybe someone else should try it on you. I'd really like to hear your opinion about it after this.

  • the horse was being honest, THAT'S GOOD! that bitch should learn how to ride, not to jump over big jumps by using a whip! somebody should slap him as hard as he whipped the poor, poor horse!

  • D-bag. At least he finally got what was coming to him. Maybe if he ridden more positively on the initial approach, the horse wouldn't have petered out to the stop.

  • cruel s.o.b.

would love to thrash him with a whip till he bleeds

  • Cute, beat the horse for a very poor setup and approach by the rider.

  • "Show jumper Michael Morrissey has been fined and suspended by the U.S. Equestrian Federation... ...Morrissey has been suspended for three months, ending on Aug. 4, for striking his mount, Crelido, 13 times in a row at the $75,000 CSI** Grand Prix in Wellington, Fla., on Feb. 27, after the horse refused an open water jump. In addition to his suspension, Morrissey also must pay a $3,000 fine."

Quote from -The Chronicle of the Horse-

  • i hope he never gets to ride professionaly agan this is just horrid

  • There are no excuses for this guy. He response was excessive. His approach to the jump was bad and the refusal probably saved him from a fall. This is a professional rider at the top of the game? He should be ashamed of himself. A fine and suspension is getting off easy.

  • He had a bad approach to that jump. Horse probably saved him from a fall by refusing. No way that horse deserved to be whipped like that. He got off easy with a suspension and fine. What a jerk.

  • that poor horse. my horse refuses but i would NEVER do that....

i hate to imagine what he does when he rides alone with a refusing horse...

  • This turns my stomach! Crelido did not deserve this beating! SHAME ON YOU MORRISSEY!

  • Hate him, don't force the horse with the wip. Idiot! He really can't ride.

  • And if he had of hit a person like that he would be doing time... What does he get handed - a suspension? The justice system is all screwed up...

What happened to the rights of animals, and why did the judge not ring the bell and eliminate him on the spot for FLOGGING his horse?

What a tolerant horse for not throwing him then and there.

  • this is AWFUL. that was a shit ride to the open water, and he deserved for his horse to stop at it. what an asshole.

  • what a good vid shame the rider did not hit the horse harder and should of smacked it more times.

  • His bad approach to the jump was why his horse refused... why would he hit him over and over and over when his horse responded after the first correction? He probably would have cleared the jump with a centered approach and motivation from the rider's leg aids, not his crop. Too bad Morrissey got carried away and lost his temper: horse, rider and spectators all lost because of this.

  • what a freaken idiot! That horse might have to switch careers because of him!!

  • Thats just not right, he should never be allowed to own a horse , horses should do what you want becasue of trust, and willingness , not fear in knowing they will get beat if they dont.

  • Ignorant Rider!!! What else can I say...

  • hey i dont know if anyone heard hes now under full investergation from the FEI and so are those who where there for lettin this behavior take place so hes wont get away with this! :)

  • please don't make allowances for this bully. He doesn't deserve it.

  • Take him down and thrash him like that. See how he likes it! I abhor that kind of apology for a human being. He should be banned from ever keeping or competing again.

  • There are two things that strike me about this. Firstly, the whip has no obvious effect on the horse, correlating with the fact that whips are designed not to hurt horses, but to mimic a predatory touch. If it had been hurting the horse, there would certainly have been some response from the horse.

  • Secondly, the protest seems to presume the rider is hiting the horse in punishment for his own mistake, which may or may not be the case, but this doesn't correlate with the purpose of a whip - to re-enforce the leg aid, which is presumably the intent - to get the horse over second time round. It's not a good or tidy way of doing it, but I would hesitate to condemn it as cruel or psychologically disturbing to the horse...

  • @philburgess535 Horses often seem stoic in their approach to pain, especially when running away from, to your point, a predator or something mimicking a predator. They cannot sit down and express emotions, or they will be the predator's dinner. So they run and save themselves first. Does a lack of visual display of effect, really mean that this horse does not feel, does not experience hurt or anxiety when whipped 11 times?

  • It's against the rules when you're competing. So if that's you're way of getting your horse to jump, avoid it in the ring and keep beating your horse up at home.

  • @lesliecarter72 erm reality check needed here!! If it was you on the receiving end of that whip you may change your opinion!

  • 've known and competed with Michael since children jumpers. We are now in our early 20's. Although this incident is clearly a BIG lapse in judgement and a huge mistake, I believe the "abuse" of overusing the whip was due to nerves. Since this night class (I was there watching and saw it happen live) was a WEG qualifier, the pressure was more overwhelming than usual.

  • Since Crelido stopped at the water the first time he cantered to it (if I remember correctly I think he was also clear up until this point) I'm sure Mike's nerves and inner voice saying, "I can't let him stop at the water again and get eliminated," took over, allowing him to make this stupid mistake. This is NO excuse for what he did and for mistakes/broken regulations there are consequences, but at the end of the day we are only human and we do mess up sometimes. I

  • I just want to bring light to the entire situation. If this was the first thing I had ever seen of Mike Morrissey, I'm sure I would be completely shocked to. However, since i've been friends with him since childhood, I know the type of person he is and this is such an unfortunate situation and a mistake I'm sure he will always regret. In order to better yourself you must make mistakes, then learn from your mistakes and never make the same mistake again. That is exactly what Mike will do.

  • Mike is a great guy who loves his horses. He bought Crelido over 5 years ago and has built a partnership with him. He loves this horse. I promise you this. Haven't you ever emotionally or physically(there were no welts or skin broken from this incident, not that it makes it okay either way) hurt or said something terrible to someone you love? Then you later regret it and know you f*cked up? If not, WOW you are perfect. Emotions just tend to take over sometimes uncontrollably.

  • This is something we all know and hopefully as we get wiser, learn to control.

Mike's outstanding record up to this point should definitely be taken into consideration. Most of you, if not almost all of you don't now him personally and don't see him at the horse shows all of time, didn't grow up with him on the show circuit. Well, I did. People are so quick to judge and assume that because of one display of rider(human) error this automatically means that he is some type of monster.

  • That behind closed doors he is some abusive horseman. I've stabled with and trained with the same trainer as Mike. He is not a bad horseman, he is just the opposite. What it comes down to is that he had a bad night and let the pressure of wanting to do well in the WEG trials and his emotions take over. This is and was a huge mistake, especially in our sport that involves these wonderful animals. It happens though...in all walks of life.

  • All of us would be lying if we said we have never lost our temper when it was unnecessary to do so. Or that we haven't done something where we later realized it was bad or way worse than we thought or had intended. I am sure; actually I know he felt and still feels terrible about this situation and didn't realize what he was doing at the time. So let's cut this great up and coming rider some slack.

  • is a huge learning experience for him and I'm sure there will be repercussions for his lack of judgement and way of handling himself in that class. Just don't judge him solely off this ONE incident. That's not fair to do.

**Sorry for all of the separate posts, but this needed to be said. It's easy to jump to conclusions when you don't know a person and can just assume the worse about them. He honestly doesn't deserve that. WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES.

  • Well buhu! Was the judges his best friends to? Shame on him and shame on you for trying to make excuses for breaking all rules of animal treatment - and in public! There's nothing you can say that convinces me that he doesn't make the same "mistakes" at home.

  • That is way too severe.

  • He doesn't ever ever EVER deserve to have a horse. Banned for life if you ask me. Absolutely unnaceptable. This is SICK.

  • Okay... Here's what I see. He jumped the preceding jump fine. Michael goes to make the turn to the water without forewarning. The horse drops his shoulder to the water and ducks right. Michael's lack of support (hand and leg) allows the horse to fall right. He then punishes the horse for his poor turn and support. Nothing is done about it because of politics. Michael is a big name and no one wanted to stir sh*t. Politics politics politics. He'll get away with a slap on the wrist.

  • Your so stupid you mother fucker! why the hell do you need to hit on the horse 13 times, just for him to jump!!!! ? cabrão de merda! vai aprender a montar caralho!

  • Believe me, I WOULD say it to his face! Someone needs to show him the video of what that kind of force has done to his horses' flesh & skeleton (available on youtube) . Absolutely DISGUSTING behaviour! And as for him being a 'nice guy' - yeah, lovely!! Any decent rider would have instantly read the situation & realised it was a rider error. That horse is an absolute saint to even consider continuing the round.

  • Maybe a better title for this video would be "How To Take Out Frustration Due To Lack of Rider Talent On The Horse"

  • DISGUSTING.

    Evil, disgraceful.

NEVER in all my life would i treat a horse in that way.

People like that shouldn't be allowed to compete.

  • Whip that bas*ard and see how he likes it. The fault was HIS not the horse. DISGRACEFUL !!!!!!!!

  • Shame on the stewards.

  • @lizziesaves Not the stewards, but the judges. They are responsible for matters inside of the ring.

  • the line was bad the first time he took him in, no need to frigging beat the horse up!! id have thrown him if it were me, would serve him right!

  • This is so bad behaviour from the riders side! He´s a elite rider, he´s not suposed to behave like this, he should be a rolemodel instead of this! SHAME!!!!

  • @GemmaPsycho Agreed!

  • Totally unaccepable. 13 times to many! Once or twice is enough! But it wasn't the horses fault so he didn't diserve to be hit at all!

  • get. him. off. NOW. he shouldn't of even been alowed to finish the course. that was RIDER ERROR. and if a rider at his level can't realize that... he's got major issues. just get off the horse if you cant handle it... my Lord!

  • At this level, there's absolutely zero excuse for such unprofessional behaviour. Especially when it's his fault the horse refused. If he had taken more care in the approach, the horse would have been happy to jump, obviously. Shame on Michael Morrissey Jr. AND Sr. and the FEI and USEF for not realizing how awful this is.

If he can act like this with thousands of people watching, what does he do behind closed doors?

  • Ban him !!!! No one has the right to do that to an animal! If you need to do that to a horse you have no business being on one !!! In their business the HORSES make those morons look good ! To them it is about the money not the horses !!!! the judges too !!!!

  • I've seen worst in my country, and absolutely nothing have been done against the rider... but of course, it's absolutely unacceptable this situation, and, for me, a suspension would be a great idea, as well as a very big fine!!

Equestrian is harmony and friendship between the rider and the horse, not this...
