I always thought this was a cool poem. No pun intended. For one who has spent time in the north, the poem is quite fitting. You really can't understand this until you have felt your nose and ears freeze in the intense cold. I love this poem.
I remember when we did this poem in grade 6. My teacher referred to it as a comedy. However, as an adult, and after memorizing The Raven, I decided to look it up and memorize this one. Upon doing so there is nothing really funny about it. It's quite chilling (no pun intended) actually.
Great job interpreting the poem in the creepy manner I pictured it.
Really a stunning rendition of this poem . Beautiful video work that capture everything nicely. Not only a good recitation, but an excellent telling and showing of the story.

You all have real artistic talent. To clarify my earlier statement: ballad of the black fox skin is another Robert Service poem. Not as great or famous as Sam Mc Gee, but definitely a good poem.
I heard my father say bits of this recitation many years ago, and there were pictures in my mind that have now come to life in this wonderful video! Thanks for posting it!
I like your camera work on this. Especially the tracking shot in the shed that was good as was the shots of the sleds. Obviously you didn't have the money/resources for some top notch computer graphics or the fire scene could have been better but all in all a first rate effort
@prpgk1 ...That shot in the sled is a steadicam shot where i pull out from a greenscreen to reveal cap and sam at the table. The funny thing is, is that when i did the graphics it was the best i could get on the best machine possible but fire is always very hard to do. Maybe i should have shot real fire then superimposed it...you live, you learn.

It's grim, but there's a certain black humor to it. It was one of my dad's favorites, and one of mine too.

@Devimix ...You're right in my opinion. It is creepy and not really much of a comedy.

I love this production. My dad use to recite this poem when I was a kid and I read it to my Children.

You ought to know that the Province of Alberta has distinctive clouds, as seen at 1:06.
That isn't Tennessee.

us and I tried to picture it. You did that
for me. A very powerful rendition!

Superb! This film put a big grin on my face. Respectful, imaginative, humorous; you've hit it dead-on.
I have some idea of how much work went into this. Here is one viewer who appreciates every moment of it.
