  • Splendid!!!

  • I've watched this way to many times....i know their fingerings

  • sounds like my bathroom after I eat chipotle

  • very cool music. love it.

  • 0:16 - 0:37 0:49 - 1:23

  • Sounds like Phillip Glass and looney tunes made love. I love it.

  • fun, humourous, stable, playful....wonderful!

  • I love the name 'Deep Shrott' . It's quirky enough for the awesomness of mega-bass instruments, and describes the sound perfectly.

  • If I were a walrus, that's probably what I'd play on my parties.

  • this is really cool

  • I never even knew there was a bass saxophone!

  • Is there any way I could get the sheet music for this?

  • @wwright141 You can purchase the sheet music at deepschrott.de

  • This is very good. About how much does a bass sax run you? I play alto, tenor, and bari... looking to expand my horizons

  • @MrKillingourAngel Depends on what you want to have. A good vintage instrument like Martin, Buescher a. o. is probably a good solution and not too expensive.

  • deep throat

  • More like "Deep Throatt", judging from the way they're blowing on those things!

  • ggeeeeessshhhh that must be really hard to keep up a perfect like embouchure like that for so long! but yeah ik how we ppl do it :P

  • LOLL the tune name, Deep Shrott sounds like the guy in my head is running cuz theyr in deep shit. lmao :) i <3 the lower saxophones.

  • @dikajora no like sheet music

  • I play Alto, Tenor, and Baritone. I want a bass and a contrabass!

  • I can't help but think how awesome a compilation between them and Apocalyptica would be.

  • Comment removed

  • I fucking love this. Where can I get some of this music?

  • where can you get the music

  • @celticsheridan At deepschrott.de

  • hahahaha! it sounds so wierd with only low instruments! I played bari and loved it. But I don't know about playing just with other low instruments.

  • muito loco

  • You know what would be even better, a quartet of contrabass saxophones.

  • I love you guys

  • what key is this giant sax in?

  • are the reeds the same size as bari sax?

  • @Bassclarinator If you play bass sax mouthpieces, you take bass sax reeds.

  • @dikajora does a bari mouthpiece fit onto it though?

  • @tackledparsley Yes, you can do that. It sounds a bit different than a bass sax mp.

  • The original dubstep.

  • this if awesome

  • EPIC veins @ 0:42 are EPIC.

  • Awesome! Those things are so percussive and raspy!

  • i wish i can record a peice with my freinds, i play french horn.

  • Is it hard to keep a good embouchure while playing?

  • @TheLatestJoke It's harder to keep a good embouchure while not playing!

  • that's so sick :O

  • Das ist gut!

  • Nice, was there actually bass sax quartet music or did you have to write it?

  • @1077mikev OF COURSE there wasn't and there isn't. We write the stuff, and we are the only ones to write for bsq until today.

  • @dikajora wow that awesome, I love the arrangement!

  • as they say in finland: KYÄ LÄHTEE!!

  • This is the soundtrack to a fat man sliding across a sheet of ice.

  • @guitarlegend18 It's either that or a fat man with some really bad gas trying to find a bathroom.

  • hahahaha scrotum.

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG :):):):):):)

  • you bether no smoek when you play such an instrument ;D

  • im switching from bari to bass sax

  • After seeing this I made my mind up, I'm going to ask my band director if there's any possibility that if I buy a bass sax if I can play it for concert band.

  • easyyy on that bass friend

  • Does this amazing instrument play in treble clef?

  • @CSjuggling It is written in treble clef.

  • Stan Kenton had one in his band in the 60's along with Bari Sax as well.1 Alto,2 tenors,2 Baries, and one of the Bari played the Bass Sax as well. Also 2 Bass Trombones and one of the Bass Tombone played Tuba too.

  • Those must have cost a fortune O_O

  • How long have bass saxaphones existed? You MIGHT be youtube's first bass sax quartet..... but you don't think in the nearly 200 years the bass sax has been around.. you're the first four guys to play together as a group.

  • @eerawb Well... Show us another one! A working band of 4 bass saxes, dedicated exclusively to this instrument, writing exclusively for this line up.

  • @dikajora Yeah. It's also only been relatively recently that even the baritone sax has been allowed to shine, so it's highly unlikely there were any except maybe as a, "hey guys, y'know what would be crazy....?"

  • @eerawb Sax was invented in the 20's

  • To everyone posting that Bari. Is an octave high then bass it is only half an octave higher. I know because I play Bari. Alto and soprano. And want to learn how to play bass.

  • What does DEEP SCHROTT mean?

  • how much lower is that compared to baritone? a baritone in Bb has an Ab as the lowest note, and you say that the lowest note in that one is Ab too.. is it an octave lower??

also, theres a video by norweigy playing a contrabass saxophone, it seems bigger. is contrabass even lower than bass sax?

  • @ericoschmitt baritone is in Eb, bass is in Bb, contrabass one octave lower than baritone

  • sounds like big long farts !!!!! LOL but over all i sounds nice!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sounds nice! especially the second tune:)

  • This is awesome

  • @0:50 is that a man or woman?

  • @MyRubberducks man. he hs facial hair

  • Cool but to deep for me, but I do like the more mellow clarinet tones, flute tones, alto sax tones, and also the cello mellow tones as well is the Viola mellow. I like instruments that have not real deep and not pitch high like the piccolo I now own.

  • Baritone saxophone is often forced to be a "faux bass", grunting around in the bottom of its range. But at the same pitches, the bass saxophone is in its midrange and sounds smoother and more relaxed. The bass sax has a beautiful, singing midrange tone. Again, it is not a matter of bari or bass being louder. At the same pitch the bari and bass have a different timbre.

  • i swear does it really matter that much if they puff ther cheeks.

  • Rhythmic part in the first movement mimics a Didgeridoo?

  • Fantastic, wonderfully funky, I love bass instruments, Bravo!

  • @dikajora No thank you for putting your music out it only inspires me to get better

  • i play bass clarinet and contrabass/contralto clarinet and so i have a great love and respect for your music, i was wondering where i could find your sheet music for this on the website

  • @surekai123 Thank you! You do not find it, but you can order it.

  • they should be on american idol and play this same song.

  • cheek puffers... :(

  • Tsk Tsk Tsk. Not supposed to puff your cheeks. ;]

  • is it louder than a bari sax? or is it not?

  • @iwanabana The bass is not exactly 'louder', but more volume, more resonance. Depends how you play the bari or the bass, of course. The bari can be more aggressive, the bass is softer. Compare an alto to a tenor, that's similar.

  • 13 people don't know wtf they are talking about, this is great. Wish it were longer

  • When you are finished the room needs to be re-oxygenated.

  • how does the bass sax compare and contrast to a bass clarinet?

  • @macintosh315 Well, there are so many differences... If you want to know about the range: the deepest note on the bass sax is Ab, the bass clarinet in its long version offers the Bb. The sound, the embouchure, the fingerings, the instruments themselves - everything is obviously very different.

  • @macintosh315 the bass clarinet sounds cool and the bass sax doesn't.

  • DAMN, look at those veins on his neck at 0:45!

  • awesome. i wish i had a bass sax!!!!

  • @dikajora I was wondering what models you guys are using? im a bari player myself and i have fiddled around on a bass before. im looking at different models to buy sometime in the future mainly the Selmer SA-80 or the International woodwind 661. oh and where can i get the sheet music for this?

  • @hrahn1995 The instrument is also a question of taste. We do not recommend the two instruments you mention. We play older vintage saxes (Conn) and Keilwerth. You can get the sheetmusic exclusively via deepschrott.de, just feel free to contact us.

  • @hrahn1995 When i played the Bari sax i played the good ol' fashion King! played great IMO...

  • Cool! XD

  • personally i hate this instrument, but this is pretty cool

  • I got a fever. and the only perscription is MORE BASS SAX

  • DONT PUFF UR CHEEKS!!!!!

    XD

  • @sexydrawers808 LOL I sound like crap when I do, but they're proffesionals and I'm not, so they pulled it off

  • i was always taught that you shouldn't puff your cheeks out like that... if so that's bad form

  • Are the lower notes any easier on bass sax? Just a quick thought...

  • @JGSaxBaby easier than what? easier than on tuba? on piccolo flute? easier than high notes on the bass sax?

  • @dikajora I'm sorry, I mean than on bari sax xD

  • @JGSaxBaby I play bari myself, and I do not think so. Bass and bari are different instruments with different possibilities. And it always depends on the specific instrument you have. The low notes on the bass need some more air, of course.

  • @dikajora Thank you very much :D Well I have truly ABUSED the replay button :) Keep up the amazing work :D

  • Very cool and looks like a lot of fun. I'm a bassoonist and got to double on bass sax (and clarinet) in the Music Man way back in high school. Was able to borrow a bass sax from a nearby school which was in really good condition and easy to play. Was sorry to have to return it. Good times! Would love to transcribe some of this music for bassoon quartet.

  • ... and I thought the bari was big...

  • I want those saxes... Where can i get them?

  • best thing evar

  • 0:40 it sounds like someone is playing a bad violin right there...

  • SAXOPHONE BATTLE!!!!!!! MELT YOUR FACES!

  • I want to play the bass sax, I play tenor right now and I double with alto. me to, this is EPIC!!!

  • omg, EPIC RHYTHM.

  • Bravo, coming from a Bari Sax player, it takes a lot of work to put together a quartet like that.

  • I want to play the bass sax, I play tenor right now and I double with alto, clarinet, and bass clarinet. My highschool has a contrabass clarinet, but not a bass sax! probably too expensive xD let me know if there's anywhere I can get a good, cheap (under $800) bass sax :D

  • This sounds so cool!

  • fantastic,

  • This Is Kind Of Naughty But......

I Just Got A Musical Boner xD

  • is there a difference between bass sax and bari sax??

  • @paulina1330 To be precise: Bari is one octave lower than alto, it's tuned in Eb. Bass sax is one octave lower than tenor, and it's tuned in Bb. Difference in the embrochure can be compared to the difference between alto and tenor: It's the same family of instruments, but each of them needs special treatment.

  • @dikajora so does that mean that contra is an octive below bari and is in Eb?

  • @FearTheBeans yes

  • @FearTheBeans AKA a tuba.

  • @dikajora Good explanation of the differences between saxophones. For our readers, octave is spelled with an "a", and embouchure is "bou", not "bro", from "bouche", the French word for mouth.

  • @paulina1330 bass sax is 5x bigger!

  • @paulina1330 shut up man

  • @paulina1330 yes the bari is smaller

  • @paulina1330 yes, the baritone saxophone is one octave higher than the bass sax. How do I know? I play the Bari. VERY fun if you were to play one!

  • Damn fine music....can't sit still and listen -

  • WOW i love the first song! Very cool :D

Im a tenor sax player, so getting air through the bass sax would be VERY tough work for me. It obviously isn't for you guys :) Great job!

  • Nice syncopation! sounds sooo awesome!

  • go to 00:50 that is where it really starts !!!!

    AWESOME JOB!!!

  • I've marched quick tempos while playing a bari sax loudly. I know from expirience that the cheek puffing is not neccessary. Just take in a lot of air all throughout the rests, filling up (completly) your lungs from top to bottom. The when you play empty (literally, empty your lungs) the air into the saxophone. The cheek puffing dosn't allow them to take in omre air and is not good at all for the embrouchure. This ensemble sounded good whole doing it, but they are pros. Cheek puffing = bad.

  • @1alexmweiss Realize that they are not playing bari saxophones, but bass saxophones. It may be completely different seeing as the bass saxophones are an octave lower

  • @Foerumokaz its actually half an octave. it is more air, no doubt about that, but I don't think it is enough to have the embrouchure completly changed.

  • It sounds like a whole song of synchronized farting!! lol

  • farts

  • o wow i want myself a bass >_<! the lowest ive gotten is a bari-sax D:< i want bass oooo or even better A CONTRA bass! ... and pft to the cheeck puffin .... great players can do w/e they feel like doing!

  • Awesome job... it takes skill to make four such low instruments sound great together.

From a fellow low sax player, don't puff your cheeks out! ;)

  • @ninjacat1365 omg so tired of all these backseat drivers and wisenheimers with their advices for the cheeks... as if we were beginners... thanks anyway

  • @dikajora I've only played alto, so I'm guessing since you guys are experienced, the bass basically requires you to puff your cheeks? It seems like getting air through that thing would be impossible. Props!

  • @dikajora

yes, the 'puffy cheek police' get a bit tedious after awhile...

  • @dikajora Hahaha i know what you mean I've been playing bari for 4 years and everyone and their brother thinks im doing something wrong hahahaha, in my opinion puffing out your cheeks relieves trying to keep them pulled in if you play for a long period of time, after about an hour i stop trying to keep them in haha, anyway amazing playing, now i want to play it, is it bass cleff?

  • @dikajora The creator adolph sax would be pissed if he saw it. in one of his writings he stated "the puffing of the cheeks is an improper tecnique" to be honest if it sounds good, do what you do best. NIce job guys. you have this song in its entirety?

  • @dikajora Wow. Way to not take criticism.

  • @dikajora Just one question from a non fellow low sax player, whats the diference. A freind of mine play trompet and que told me the same thing when trying to teach me

  • @dikajora I've met a lotd of people who puff their cheeks, and they usually sound better than I do!

  • @ninjacat1365 wow. Have you even heard how amazing they sound? There is no way in hell that they are beginner's and if they do puff up there cheeks its probly something they have to do. But to see someone give these experts beginners advice is really entertaining.

  • @ManIhTwoLinJay he was joking you fucktard. there was even a little smiley after it.

  • @LTmattYT wow grats on making your self look like an asswole! :) and I'm not joking :) :) :) :)

  • @ManIhTwoLinJay fucking idiot

  • @ninjacat1365 Sometimes, playing low instruments like this, puffing your cheeks is necessary.

  • @ninjacat1365

Who cares if he blow his cheeks, as long as he sounds good.

    geez.

  • amazing!!!!

  • This is fantastic stuff! Thanks for uploading!

  • I'm suprised there aren't any more views than 84,269. THIS IS AMAZING!

  • wheres the cd??

  • @skoolboi109 released in march 2010, it is simply called "one". at poise.de, for example.

  • I love the bass sax. It's everything fun about the bari but more.

If you can, get a copy of the bass line part to "A Night In Tunisia" and play it at the proper tempo - it's at once fun, hilarious and surprisingly awesome in the right band.

  • Good to know there are actually those out there who can actually handle these instruments and make music, not just get kicks off of low honking.

  • I it love power to the bass

  • very well done! amazing stuff.

  • What's the name of the second song? Is it a cover?

  • @JPSynaesthesya It's one song with different parts, no cover. you can hear the entire song at our first cd "one".

  • @dikajora Thanks!

  • sorry i didnt know they were minors, im only in seventh grade...

  • @platinum29ROBLOX yes, no problem, just tired of that discussion...

  • As a saxophone player specializing in Alto and Bari I salute you! I use a lot of are for my bari as it is. I can't imagine how much you would use for this.

  • Looks like great fun trying to avoid the mud.

  • how do people not kno tht its a chromaticism there? It sounds fucking awesome. I love bass groups.

  • About 3/4 of that band has there cheeks puffed out . Keep them in!!! Great songs though.

  • @LaughingMaster3000 ahhhahaha it kills me whenever i see that. young whippersnappers getting on old pros' nerves about their cheeks. you obviously have never heard of dizzy gillespie, your band teacher probably told you on the first day of band that puffing your cheeks was BAD, and therefore you held it as the only RIGHT technique that exists on the planet! whatever works for you, kid, whatever works for you.

  • sorry i didnt know they were minor D: my bad! im only in seventh grade band as barisax! T-T sorry really good work!

  • oh then sorry... I have to admit GREAT work, didnt know they were minor... sorry! I play bari.sax... sorry man!

  • meh a WAY out of tune in the first song on the melody part...
