Okay... I understand that nobody here wants to take away from the discussion, but when you come to a feminist video and say, "What about the men?" and proceed to say that men experience worse or the same issues, make claims of reverse sexism, etc (valid issues, and they should be talked about) it -does- hinder the discussion because this isn't the right space to talk it.

These people are not my enemies, they could be my sisters, so I should respect them and let them find their own wisdom instead of taking solace in the fact that I have more physical strength than them, and know avenues to avoid the sorts of psychological strain they place on themselves. It's a misplaced envy that breeds the anger, since they don't exemplify anything I aspire to. I always have to stare at the backs of tiny blond heads of girls like this in my classes. It's always a mixed response of fury, pity, annoyance, and a feeling that they are setting womanhood back in some ways, but I shouldn't blame the individuals. i just wanted to say thanks to the people who uploaded this & thanks to courtney martin for mentioning that young successful girls and women DO have problems. usually people who mention this do it for the wrong reason, i.e. antifeminist backlash.

at the moment egalitarians (i decided to start using this word instead of "feminists", people understand it better) concentrate a lot on the problems of boys and young men, many of whom have problems at school. though this IS a very very important issue it is important to also think about those who supposedly do well in society.

Males are under pressure as well to have it all, even more so than girls. Some men when they fail or don't think they're sucessfull enough turn to alcohol, drugs or become abusive. They commit suicide t a higher rate than women.

Yes, but women attempt suicide much more frequently. Men have a higher percentage of completed suicides for those that are attempted. Arguing over who has it worse--men or women--is unhelpful and demeaning to everyone who is suffering, regardless of gender.
