  • wow, is an american ERICA GARCIA

  • The greatest female rocker ever.

    Subjective on my part.

  • I don't think I've ever seen a drummer with the cymbals way over his head.

  • She's not the most attractive woman you'll ever see but she sure can sing nice.

  • @jasonwheel see, everyone goes on about debbie harry, but chrissie does it for me here -- those lips, that hair..

  • the sexiest woman alive

  • Chrissie Hynde is very pretty .

  • They sounded like this at URI, without a lie, she sounds the same now!

  • I love Chrissie and her hoops!

  • Still my favorite Pretenders song. Loved it the first time I heard it.

  • the only and best female artist...shes got it all

  • 2:40 is really awesome. when i first heard this in 1980 or 1981 i almost felt as if i heard this in the late 1960s as a child because it sounded familiar but that was not possible. it was sort of a deja vue experience set off by a song.

  • Their version whupps the Kinks original. Sorry Ray, it's the truth your ex one-upped you.

  • i love you chrissie.

  • Chrissie Hynde is so my personal hero! I want to be her!!!

  • I was in love with Chrissie in high school back in 81.

  • What a beautiful voice and woman. Chrissie has it all

  • The Come F-Me bangs and voice are too much to behold!

  • Chrissie = the hotness

  • Will Lee on guitar and Paul Shaffer on piano helping out. Great song well done.

  • An American living in England- hmmm-I like it.

  • Wow, I remember this. And it's nice to see a great female artist keeping her clothes on.

  • Coundln't argree more. With a voice like that she can keep her clothes on and still be great.

  • You can rave all you want about the original lineup. I saw them live and they were sloppy as hell. I wish they'd sounded like this back in '82!

  • Thanks nauort23, Sid McGinnis has toured and/or recorded with Peter Gabriel, Carly Simon, Dire Straits, Robert Fripp, Laurie Anderson, Bob Dylan, David Bowie and Paul Simon. Will Lee has recorded and/or toured with Bette Midler, Mariah Carey, Carly Simon, George Benson, Steely Dan, B.B. King, Cat Stevens, Ringo Starr, Cyndi Lauper, James Brown, Cher, Al Green, Billy Joel, Liza Minnelli, Frank Sinatra, Carl Perkins, Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross, David Sanborn, Natalie Cole and Roy Buchanan.

  • i'm in love....

  • OMG....great performance of this song....Robbie M is great but I'd have preferred all the original guys

  • @Strumrr original guitarist and bass player are dead.

  • ummm, yes, I'm very aware of that. I was just saying it would have been great to have them instead.

  • Blair Cunningham is a great drummer.

  • Go ahead and hate me, I like The Pretender's version of this better than The Kinks. I love The Kinks though....

  • I don't hate you. I think it's better too. No disrepect to the Kinks..

  • Read recently a Ray Davies interview. He said the Pretenders version of this song is his favorite Kinks cover of all time. I was fortunate this year to see Ray Davies and the Pretenders sing this same song during their respective 2009 tours. Both were great!

  • Ray was supposed to come to our area in Pa. but cancelled due to low ticket sales....our area is 50 years behind the times. Love the Kinks!! Esp. Ray! Did you read his book entitled "X-Ray"?

  • @pasnowqueen

it probably has more to do with people not knowing they were coming to your town. are you in western or eastern PA? it cost too much to advertise on the radio and in papers. the radio stations should let people know when a band is coming to town for free. i would listen to radio more iof they did this.

Pave the way for many of the females in the music today!

  • ..always charming, sexy, and talented, Chrissie...Thanks for the many years of emotion.

  • Paul had some kick ass musicians in his band. They backed up a whole bunch of people.

  • I LOVE HER.......

  • look how young letterman looks in this vid~

  • HOT!

  • My hero!

  • I could swear around 2:10 she starts singing "Gotta Stop Sotamayor". How did she know back then? AMAZING!!!

  • She's singing "Gotta stop sobbin' now oh"

  • Now THAT'S funny! Don't go giving Rush Limbaugh any ideas.

  • Thank you mick - one thats bugged my tits for years

  • the woman is uber fucking cool!!

  • totally uber cool! great, great talent.

    i remember watching this

  • Amazing Ray Davies track...Chrissie rocks like no other female!

  • Yeah!!! Stop Sobbing!

  • 我第一次听到这首歌是在亚当·桑德勒的影片《从心开始》中,当时就觉得这首歌挺好听的,很轻松的感觉

  • you got that right, except for the last kanji.

  • yes they are coming to house of blues in san diego next week i am so happy

  • Sexiest woman in rock n roll.... Well name one girl with more integrity than Chrissy!!??

  • great voice and hips! :))

  • mickd01..thanks..I was on internet searching for exact date Pretenders first played Milwaukee, & this came up. I'll never forgive myself for MISSING that show at the Palms..waited too long & then it sold out..could not get in. Their first album..definitely in my top 5 all-time. made up for it though by seeing them at Oriental the next year when they discovered Violent Femmes..were you there? Am seeing them this Tueday, Feb 17 at Northern Lights Theatre..Potowatomi Casino..can't wait!

  • Wish I could see them this Tuesday. Spent my whole life in Milwaukee/Waukesha area but moved away for work last July. Now live in Charleston. Cool the Pretenders discovered the Femmes. A rockabilly band I played in the early 80's, The Rock-A-Dials, practiced on a weekday in the basement of The Starship on 4th and Michigan. After practice I would sometimes see the Femmes playing upstairs to a very small crowd. They were virtually unknown then, even locally. Give me an update on the Pretenders show

  • I remember going to The Starship in the early 80's as a UWM student...remember the Tense Experts and Oil Tasters? Rock-A-Dials sound so familiar...probably saw you somewhere back then! Good luck in Charleston...will get back to you after the show...

  • Loved the Tense Experts and The Oil Tasters. Caleb, the sax player for The Oil Tasters was a friend of mine. Seems we were the only 2 saxophonists in the punk scene. He did sound for many bands including the Femmes when they toured Europe. He occasionally played sax with them. Remember Century Hall? The Rock-A-Dials played there a lot, were some of our best shows. Early 80's were some of the best times in my life. Thanks for the good wishes. The Pretenders show will be great. Have fun!

  • they are truly great

  • Heard this last night in PennsPeak PA - up in the country. She is amazing - Bad ass rocker. Beautiful voice still.

  • I prefer The Kink's version.

  • @taxmonkey123 she should do the taster by wild man fisher

  • Chrissy is one of the few who sounds just as good live as in the studio. The original lineup of the Pretenders also sounded great live.

  • I've seen the P's 4 times from clubs to arena's, but saw them 5-6 years ago as backup to Neil Young...TOTALLY blown away by their performance that night. Never remembered them as Blowing me away but that performance was absolutely in my top 5 live shows ever. Rock on!

  • what an incredible voice

  • I have fallen in love with Chrissie again!!

  • Sounds good

  • After 15 years of waiting I finally saw the Amazing Talent that is Chrissie Hynde at Los Angeles House of Blues, Johnny Rotten formerly of The Sex Pistols tried to start a Mosh Pit. Much Love n Respect to The Pretenders they are one of my all time favorite bands.

  • great song written by Ray Davies of the Kinks, Chrissie's ex-lay :)) she's just great.

  • I thought she wrote this about Ray Davies

    after they split...

  • Since Ray Davies wrote and performed it (with The Kinks) long before The Pretenders existed, probably not.

  • Thanks for the info mnwla

  • she was in diapers then :))

  • Maravilha Pretenders é para sempre !

  • She is so cool here!

  • There was a reason why Paul chose Robbie and Blair out of countless numbers of other musicians, and this video is one of many that shows their raw talent.

  • Chrissie and Ray Davies- What a couple!!! Two GREAT talents !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Chrissie Hyde is hot

  • thank you mike! one of my favorites - (that

first disk was a masterpiece). i remember

seeing this show, excited that they would be

appearing, and then when they played this ...

    BLISS!

    thanks again

  • Hadn't looked at any responses to my videos in a while. Thanks so much gubban159. The first Pretenders album was my favorite too, and this is one of my favorite songs. Saw The Pretenders in Milwaukee on their first tour of the US, my ticket says Thurs. April 24, 1980 at a medium sized theater/bar called The Palms. What a fantastic show it was, one of my all-time favorite concerts.

  • great!!!! love the pretenders and this song is so great !!!

  • Chrissie Hynde with the Totally underrated voice! Amazing.

  • it is time for laughing instead of crying.....

  • it is time 4 u 2 stop ur sobbing! stop stop ur sobbing!

  • Chrissie jams. Dang good stuff.

  • Gosh she was really nice back then

  • magnifique, thx for posting!

  • She is the coolest woman on the planet and is my hero. She speaks for abused animals everywhere and makes fantastic music at the same time.

    Susie

  • Good stuff !!!

  • Yes, she should have his baby, oh wait she did as well

  • I'm a Dusty Springfield fan too. There hadn't been many great female pop/rock singers since the 60's until The Pretenders came onto the scene. I sure took notice. Saw The Pretenders in Milwaukee on their first tour of the US, just found my ticket, Thurs. April 24, 1980 at a medium sized theater/bar called The Palms. This was when "Brass in Pocket" first hit our radio. Didn't think that song was a good choice to represent the bands music. I liked the song, and most everything they've done.

  • I'm sure I've posted this before but...the greatest white pop/rock female voice since Dusty Springfield.

  • I totally agree with you!! She is the best!!!
