  • Wow, I love how you did these, this is the idea I have for my little girl's hair, I just have to get my string so I can try it out too. Great video!

  • Great job! Btw, if you run out of thread, just add another peice and start to plait from the end of the last string, making sure that you cover the previous thread with the new adiition and it should work just fine! This happens to me all the time.

    :)

  • the first part is the hardest :P

but when you done this you should make it like two strand twists...is the easyest thechnique

  • oh my she's gorgeous! i want the most high to bless me with beautiful children like your's :)

  • @aliadaduncan Thank you! But unless something is wrong trust me when I tell you that you will believe whatever baby you get is the most beautiful Gerber baby walking around...=)

  • i just love your video.its so natural. i havent seen any videos with the same style with hair extensions added.to the natural hair. maybe you could give us a demonstration of this next time round. jo

  • @Daniel31663 Thank you so much. I never use hair extensions on my girls. They all have so much hair already. Back in the day when my hair was loose, I was the braid extension queen. If I never see another pack of Kankelon again, I won't miss it...=D

  • Great job! I used to get this style done when I was little. I grew up in Africa. We had compulsory swimming as part of PhysEd, so i regularly swam with the style. It got a little frizzier each swimming session, but not so frizzy that I had to take it down. When the style started getting frizzy and it wasn't time to take it down yet, I used a soft bristle brush (not paddle brush-type, but more a boar bristle brush type with lots of very soft bristles) to lay down the frizzies in the morning. HTH!

  • @urbanhairess I can't believe I missed this comment! I would love to hear your tips on how you tied off the ends. Did you do a double knot?

  • aww, she looks adorable :)

  • Your daughter is too cute!

  • @shifragri

    Thanks!

  • Great video and wonderful style!

  • @Jehonadah

    Thank you--still holding up!

  • Great job, girl! Woohoo!! ^_^ It really was cute when you rolled it up but she likes it down, so. LOL! Cute cute CUTE!

  • @naturalesque81tv

The roll would have been perfect. In fact, this is perfect for all kinds of updos (adult version too)--but my girls like their hair to hang. It was a real struggle for me not to tell her--"your hair is going up". But roll the hair up and add some colorful accessories and the style will really shine.

  • Very pretty! Will have to try that technique one of these days.

  • @Sdestra

Please do and as I've said to everyone else--I hope you post your effort on the fanpage. I've just discovered this is ideal for stretching out the hair without heat. I just did a combo style on MG2's hair and posted the pictures on the blog. She loves how it stretched out her hair and with little stress to the hair. I also don't have to keep the hair bone dry which has been my biggest pet peeve about stretched hair. I've got all sorts of ideas.

  • This turned out very cute! I may try in the future on my daughter.

  • wow, wow, wow....WELL DONE!!!!!

  • that turned out great! let me know how well it holds up for her. good job mama!

  • @TheBlessedmomof3

    Will do! Thank you!

  • OH MY GOODNESS I LOVE THIS!!!!! I can't believe this was your first time. By the time you got to the end of the first half, you were threading like a pro!!! LOL! BRILLIANT!!! I've added it as a video response. Questions: Amount of thread - I usually use 2 x's or 3 x's the length of hair. Swimming - The girls usually wear swim caps, but at the beach they didn’t and their hair was fine. The threading keeps their hair stretched and detangled. You have made my day! Well done!! xx

  • @GirlsLoveYourCurls

Yay! I was so rocky at first I almost gave up, but the fact that I had an audience kept me going. All it takes is a little practice. I am going to be African Threading this summer like there's no other method--watch! I've got some ideas for some combo styles--cornrows + threading.

  • @CherishMyDaughter Ha ha! You're on a roll! I love the combo styles too. That's how my girls are wearing their hair this week. Flat twists at the front and African threading at the back. There are so many possibilities for combinations, so it never gets boring. :).

  • That turned out too cute! Your daughter has some gorgeous hair!

  • @jejora82

    Thanks!

  • I love how it turned out! I've been meaning to try this on my daughter ever since I saw GirlsLoveYourCurls linked on your site. Ski season limited my creativity though since we had to have helmet friendly hair for a couple of months. Hope to try it soon.

  • @chenoaaddleman

Great i hope you share pictures or videos!

  • I love GLYC's channel! I plan on trying this on my hair on day. Thanks for sharing.

  • @glamazini

Thanks! I hope you put up a tutorial! I have an idea for how to adapt this to an adult's hair. I'm think the more you wind the thread around the hair the stiffer the braid becomes. This could be good for molding a shape for an updo. What if the base of the style is cornrows or flattwists with the ends wound with thread. I'm thinking all kinds of things can be done include the popular Monae copycat styles or a braided crown of sorts.

  • Great job! Your finished style was really lovely! I saw Nadine do it and wondered how it would go for a 1st timer, so thanks for the demo. I'm excited to try it! I also wondered about swimming and how it would hold up. I'm excited to hear your follow up after it's been in a while. :)

  • @DrDawnMarie

If this works with the pool, I'm going to use this so much this summer. I hope GirlsLoveYourCurls chimes in about what her experience has been.

  • I'm definitely going to try this on my daughters hair! Thanks for sharing!

  • @future2331

Post pictures please when you do....or a video!

  • This is very cute... I look forward to seeing the followup video :)

  • @qochemist

So far so good...the fuzz is checked by the thread. I'm really excited about this one.

  • That's a technique I've never seen before. The style you did on your daughter is cute. I like it.

  • @naturalhairful

Thanks! I've seen this done with the hair wound many more times with the thread and the hair sticking out in all directions like the rays of the sun. The hair is really stiff. It's a style that goes WAY back. The first time I saw it done this way was in GirlsLoveYourCurls' video tutorial.
