  • The leg.

  • This is what modern music needs. Some proper raw analog sounds.

  • Is this the one Geddy Lee used in "The Trees" ?

  • Idk why, but the 3rd settings reminds me from joli dragon.

  • Oh god that's awesome.

  • That thing sounds frikkin amazing. Thanks for posting

  • That first pulse sound made me cringe it was so amazing

  • Sounds good. I share my synth videos on my channel. I would also like to try out the Moog, what do you think?

  • moog has new keyboards now.(Little Phatty, Voyger, Minimoog, Minitar). Anyone know which of the new moog keyboards sounds as good as this one? thanks!

  • @mixmastermonte They all sound different than the old Moogs. The new Moogs are top notch quality, but have a slightly different character (not better or worse, just different). If you exactly want the old Moog Prodigy sound, get an old Moog Prodigy. If you want something more convenient and modern, the Little Phatty (or Slim Phatty) will do the same kind of job than the Prodigy.

  • @MessyJatador Thanks!

  • @rcmeyerson Or a moog liberation

  • i see 1979

  • in wat year did they came out?

  • 3:10 VCO - Sync IS REALLY ROKI'N !

  • This is what the Prodigy named themselves after :D

  • I have not much ability for the synties, but the Moog has always fascinated me!!!...How much is a used model on the market??

  • @BreakFever84 Only about 1000 in US dollars.

  • Absolutely fantastic I would give my left bollock to have one of these in full working condition

  • He has Bday like me!!:-)

  • can we sequenced the prodigy with a tr808 ,,?

  • This is a better demo than the other things you posted.

  • holy crap, fucking amazing. Perfect sound. How many billions did it cost? (sorry for my english)

  • @ThePointingArrows He got these synths when they were cheap YEARS ago. In the early 90's everyone sold analogs to get a Yamaha DX7.

  • thats nice

  • ahhh :) and this is how Liam Howlett got the name for the greatest electronica band of all time: The Prodigy!

  • @M1CHA3LCARN3LL i was sure about that whe i first saw videos of the moog prodigy :)

  • wow! this is old school synth.

    fantastic.

  • interessting

  • Does the tuning change during long sessions due to heat?

  • Radio Shack had their own version of the Prodigy..can't remember what name it was under..I love my Prodigy..

  • @stratusplayer1 Might be thinking of the Realistic Concertmate MG-1, Radio Shack's version of the Moog Rogue.

  • Depeche Mode used one in '81 a few times

  • beast

  • I find this inspirational since I am trying to learn about synthisizers.

  • OUTSTANDING SOUND.... : )

  • One of your better demos!

  • What's in your opinion the vst softsynth indistinguishable from hardware sound?

  • these are actually quite affordable ! only problem is theres like one on ebay sorta like every few months =/

  • At 0:30 OMFG

  • At:30 OMFG

  • I really like how expressive the patch is at 0:35.

  • Very good synth. Do you happen to have a Polly Moog like what Gary Numan used back then? I'm a huge fan of G N, I do covers of his stuff & other stuff. Cheers

  • Why do humans like these sounds?

  • @AMikeOnLine Because humans create them out of nothing. A synthesizer is just a box of electronic potential for a human brain to play with.

  • @AMikeOnLine the science of sound is fascinating, i suggest you investigate further--try to subjugate your ignorance and open your mind as we have--you will enter an extraordinary world.

  • @dondorward2010 You have misundestood me. I LOVE the synthe sounds. My question is WHY???? I could listen to these wierd noises for hours and hours. But WHY? I wonder is there something going on in the human brain that we tap into when listening to these sounds ??? That's what i was trying to get at. I'm sorry if i came across negative. I'm deffinatley positive friend. Keep up the good work. :)

  • @AMikeOnLine --no, i understood you perfectly...... we all have attitudes and biases--my advice was for myself as well as you......keep exploring, the eargasms will be worth it .......

  • It's pretty obvious what Bob Yannes listened when he designed the SID chip. Awesome sound this Moog has.

  • I had one of these - GREAT sounding Synth. Great package for the price [around $400-500 back in the early '80s] Wish I still had it.

  • why arent there more bands doing this!? all you need is a drummer, a guy on keyboards and a guy on synth bass..and u got a cool synth band!

  • Yep,you cant beat a Moog.

  • its too bad moog's to this day can only support square waves, partly because of cost, part because of odd number harmonics to make odd man out making them an unique. Shame.

  • Stupendo...!!!!!

  • can you tell me what the use for the new outputs?? or hi low?

  • can i make these kinsds on my computer?

  • @kackiz

    Try this, just to test...

    /watch?v=Eex7DbdkimE&feature=related

Of course it's just an emulation, but this vst is a donationware, I love it. :)

  • Awesome sounds from that synth, thanks for posting this! Love them sounds I wanna get 1! :D

  • Honestly - What the hell is the point of having a synth that ISN'T analog??????

  • I purchased a Prodigy in 1980 , still play it. This vid shows why it's a favorite in the Techno space, but the thing wails as an auxiliary board for leads. That's the good news. The bad news is these were the first Moogs made without input from Robert Moog, designed to be the low cost entry level Moog. Consequently, they are known for having issues as they age - use now out of production chips to control scale voltage which tend to go bad, so repairs require rare, VERY pricey NOS parts.

  • I want one!

  • what type of sound system works best for synths like this?

  • i just got my hands on one of these. but every sound i make with it sounds like shit... i wish i could make some of these. lol

  • @trippininpurple It takes pratice and a LOT of learning and experimentation. LOL

  • The Prodigy (the band) named themselves after this synthesizer. Liam Howlett named the group after the Moog Prodigy synthesizer.

  • Nothing sounds like a Moog!!!!!

    Cool video!!!

  • Paging Eno Paging Gary Numan Paging Dr. Who. Holy Lasezarium Batman. wait giorgio Moroder coming by from Munich alls good.

  • nice!

  • COOL ITS NICE TO HEAR A ANALOG SYNTH NOT BEING PLAYED LIKE A PIANO !

  • AWESOMENESSS.

  • i was looking for the ...........THE PRODIGY but this was cool as well.

  • DAMN that first note blew me away

  • Have you ever thought of selling any of these? If so I'd love to keep in touch with you seeing as I'm trying to get my hands on one....

  • omg whats the sound at 1:32 i want to know

  • the tones from these machines are just spectacular. I wonder why they can't produce synths that sound so full and rich anymore?

  • the build on these real metal and wood ---instead of plastic like the new moogs- like someone said- just make this with midi - keep the same build material!

  • love the dirty bass and sweet leads...:)

  • Thanks for the quick reply,

I wish Moog Music would remake these exactly as they were made in '78 as a special edition (maybe just adding midi).I imagine they would sell out very quickly!

  • @Tokyohunter - MOOG is having too much fun monetarily raping the musician with the Minimoog reissues and the Little Phatty.

A simple monophonic synth like this could be made for not too much money, sold for not too much money, and make alot of people happy. I don't know why no one of the major synth manufacturers outside of Dave Smith is making this happen.

  • @Syntox you are so right- but atleast the Lp used is coming down wont be long before you see them for 500-600- one sold on ebay almost new for 799- in the meantime im doing my best to get a prodigy

  • Hi, thanks for posting this clip. did you use any effects on the sound, like reverb etc?

  • @Tokyohunter

    only a little bit delay

  • @retrosound72

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I wish Moog Music would re-make an exact replica of this just adding midi.

Guess the circuits would have to be re-made froom scratch?

  • @retrosound72 Thanks, is it a hardware delay pedal or software delay, (it sounds perfect!) ?

  • Where did you get all this fantastic synthesizers?

  • @Helderhugo

good connections to other vintage synth fanatics ;)

  • @retrosound72 I Did wonder how you either had the money or space to contain all of these beauties, Now I know u borrow at least some ;]

  • Sounds like Gary Numan sounds!

  • I have one of these. but I've never tried syncing it to another boards sequencer. man I got to try that. thank you.

  • @tonyvoid Ha! no wonder I never tried that mine is an older model with just one output!

  • great!!

  • @zionic144nz

    thx

  • Nice!

  • @ChristinaCaceres

    thank you :)

  • Yeah, this is the One! I have been searching for a Moog for a while! Was stuck on a Memory Moog for a while! This is my next Baby! Awesome, Awesome Vid!! Damn its evil!! Like other have said, serious Lead and Bass Machine! Thank you!!

  • Bloody hell, that little guy could cut through a brick. Great for leads and basses.

  • Cool!

  • For me the Prodigy still is the Punk version of all the monophone Moogs.

    Awesome Video, as always.

  • @Neocron

    thank you

  • Only a basic ask: How you have access to all these synths?

  • Nice analog, nice sounds. 5/5

    thanks

  • Analog>Digital.

  • F A T !

  • I think these Retro analog synthesizers are actually better making modern music today than back then.

  • soo awfully cool..;D

  • @mm69pl

  • Nothing but moog magic :)

  • @Boonfield

  • un suono magnifico!!!!

  • @NELLOARA

    :))

  • mmm, muzak to my earz.

  • @DJDrDerek

    :))

  • Can you get these sounds out of the moog voyager select? I know these are old skool but... dont think i could find one...thanx

  • @Lemure333

the typical moogie lead/bass sounds yes but the Voyager sound is very different to the Prodigy.

  • Absolutely beautiful - Does any VA come close?

  • @Andybaby

    no VA!

    thx :)

  • You must not have any neighbors with "common walls', or their dishes and plates would be jumping out of the cabinets onto the floor with this beasty playing !!! What balls !!! LOVE that VCO-Sync. The great thing about all of these synths is that, while they have common knobs and sliders, etc., each one is a soul unto itself, each an individual. Great stuff !!!! Peace:-)

  • @binnyman

:) thx a lot for watching and your comment

  • That is pretty sick =]

  • @DJdarkshadow7

yes this is the Prodigy :)
