So many dystopian sci-fi stories have the same story; fascist automaton reclaims his soul by falling in love, and even if it kills him in the end, he dies a free man. Then Jin Roh comes along and just trolls the living fuck out of that trope in a way that's as realistic as it is painful. This ending was PERFECT.

I don't think any one of us will ever see an Anime movie on par with Jin Roh in our life time. With CGI and the technology that's been improved over the years, its hard to tell if something will ever be on even grounds or competitive grounds with this movie.

I think u guys are thinking too much. You just should appreciate this anime "as it is", a great political-drama story (how can u see supenatural plot in this?). The plot came from a distopian alternative present, not so different from our one. This story shows how difficult and harsh choices can be according to the situation. Fuse is just a man tempted/forced by his situation. He's not free to decide, things in stake are bigger than his whole life.

That's why things never change, because people value the state over themselves and only serve to swell state power. I also didn't like the way Tohbe was using a condescending tone with calling him a beast, he implies a standard of morality by which people are judged as "human" when in reality morality is subjective and everyone's interpretation is different. He is free to decide, he just has been indoctrinated to not know that he is.

Hi, this is an awesome anime full of metaphors but there is one thing i did not fully understand.

What does Fuse being a "Beast inside" means? Is he a killer inside? A soldier that must follow his duty no matter what? Or is this a thing of Fuse actually being a supernatural being, a "wolf disguised as man"?

What did everyone think?

@ghoraaa Fuse isnt literally an animal disguised as a man, its a metaphor for him being a part of a brotherhood, or pack, and that he cant be normal and live with regular people because of the knowledge he has of the wolf brigade members, they literally will kill him before he leaves

I don't find this scene sad in a tragic way: Fuse wanted to kill the firts girl and now shot the other. It's not like he's forced to kill the love of his life. It's much more ambivalent and cruel. Cruel for Fuse too, who is tearing apart by his desires and his instincts.

After the wolf eats the girl, the hunter will come to rescue her, or in this movie, should pay the wolf back with his death. Augh, I'll probably runaway with her if I were him. With a heavy armor like that you shouldn't be afraid of a gunwound at all. It's worth saving one life instead of disposing hundreds.

a great symbol in the movie is the moon. at one point before the battle in the sewers prior to this scene, you see the full moon emerge from the clouds. very symbolic to werewolves, as a man turns into a wolf upon the full moon, just as the character shows his true face as a "beast" or member of wolf brigade.

No she was shot in her side. If he shot her in the head, i doubt she would have made those breathing sounds after the trigger fired. This movie is amazing to me. I love it.

no he shot her in the heart, thats why she died instantly, when you are shot in your heart your body releases everything meaning your last breath, even your bowels, that first intake of air was purely out of reflex from her body reacting but if it was in real life she'd had dropped instantly but hey what can I say I cry every single time i see this ending :(

The dub on this movie was actually beautifully done. I prefer it to the Japanese vocal version. The same can be said for Cowboy BeBop. It rarely happens, but yes, sometimes a dub is very well done, as is the translation.

The ending was way too short, imo. It felt like that they want to end it asap. They took so much time to introduce everything and stuff but then coming up with such a short ending isn't right, I think. I wish there was some fitting theme song in this scene. Would have made it better, for me...but anyway. It is one of my fav movies!!!!

But I think that this ending is a good one(even a sad ending can be good, I presume). After all this ending fits with all the sadness feeling of the movie (which is an uchronie)
