Brandon Routh did a phenomenal job playing Superman (or more correctly, playing Christoper Reeves). He wasn't the problem in "Superman Returns." The rest of the cast was; Kate Bosworth was a disaster as Lois Lane, and Kevin Spacy was near as bad as Lex Luther. The story was also pretty awful. Anyway, say what you want about the movie as a whole...but Routh did his job very well.

Routh should also be doing a sequel instead of the recrap coming with a new actor.

This was a pretty good superman change. I just don't like how when Clark is walking to the elevator and see's that people are coming out he looks down and tries to hid his face. Is it suspicious for Clark to ride the elevator? Does he usually take the stairs and people would think it out of character to ride the elevator for a change. But the part I like best is where he actually flys through the roof of the daily planet. If you are in a hurry, you don't have time to worry about breaking a roof

At Comics 2film.com, it is discussed that Routh may play Superman in another movie. I hope that if he does play Superman, they go back too the classic Superman look. In this movie, the reds are not bright enough, the belt needs too be about where his waist is and not so low. It made his legs look too short. His costume should be reflect his character. One thing you have go to love is the attention to detail. Brandon Routh in reality has brown eyes, and he wears contacts because as you all know, Superman has blue.
I agree that this was arguably the coolest costume change in the Superman franchise. Maybe it's that he's still very much "Clark" when he takes off into the air.... or maybe it's the relative nonchalance with which he just casually looks up, points his hand up and takes off as the doors close. Whole movie didn't make much sense, one of the posters commented about the lack of debris from the elevator car, not to mention the roof of the building, then he accelerates into the sky, into the clouds, and then all of a sudden he's flying 10 ft off the oceans surface when he passes the ocean bell. WTF? Wouldn't he want a better view and angle from above? Just plain stupid film editing IMO.

I agree that this was arguably the coolest costume change in the Superman franchise. Maybe it's that he's still very much "Clark" when he takes off into the air.... or maybe it's the relative nonchalance with which he just casually looks up, points his hand up and takes off as the doors close. I don't care what the naysayers say, it's a kickass scene.

when smallville finishes in the nxt 12 months the world will be finally given the superman movie we've waited and waited for.....for years, the reason the journey has taken soo long is because the creators want to share with us, why kal-el is the way he is.., and we've never been told or shown this before, also they've introduced other D.C characters to show that however great they are..IN THE END NONE OF THEM CAN COMPARE TO KAL-EL SUPERMAN

superman can move faster than light.....because of his alien molecular cell structure he can move ''outside time'' which goes far beyond any coventional speed know to human kind, kal-el has shown this in the 1978 donner movie and also recently in smallville.....truth is realy...''when pushed kal-el is the only hero capable of absolutly ''anything''

Whole movie didn't make much sense, one of the posters commented about the lack of debris from the elevator car, not to mention the roof of the building, then he accelerates into the sky, into the clouds, and then all of a sudden he's flying 10 ft off the oceans surface when he passes the ocean bell. WTF? Wouldn't he want a better view and angle from above? Just plain stupid film editing IMO.

tom welling is the future for superman...he's not only universally reconised as the future man of steel but chris reeves him self gave him the blessing while filming three episodes of smallville with tom, chris said ''it makes perfect sense for tom to graduate into supermans boots once they've done the ground work of the back story of which they have....now theres rumours of movie to follow smallville called ''metropolis'' where tom in fact becomes superman.
