  • it goes like this christopher reeve then him then tom welling (says all the other supermen) and finally dean cain

  • Brandon Routh did a phenomenal job playing Superman (or more correctly, playing Christoper Reeves). He wasn't the problem in "Superman Returns." The rest of the cast was; Kate Bosworth was a disaster as Lois Lane, and Kevin Spacy was near as bad as Lex Luther. The story was also pretty awful. Anyway, say what you want about the movie as a whole...but Routh did his job very well.

  • If WB decides to include Superman in the Justice League movie, perhap Brandon can play it's Superman.

  • does he know he flew away with the elevator OPEN XD

  • @TheBubbypower Yeah, plus he must have left a great big hole in the top of it, as well as the top of the building! Oh and he left his clothes there too.

  • @masere yepp

  • @masere dude superman is not right sometimes

  • what the fuck, this is so shit, come on Zack Snyder do us justice this is fuckeries to the whole superman franchise

  • How fast can you go? 0 to sound barrier in 5 seconds. Yeah, that's bad ass!

  • Brandon Routh was and will ALWAYS be Superman not matter what.

  • @SimsMoyal Second behind Christopher Reeve.

  • @videozfann even Donna Reeves gave him her bless as the successor of her husband - and as a matter fact he is - he looks like him and also sounds like him.

  • @SimsMoyal It is Dana Reeve not Donna Reeves and I already know all that (Dana giving her blessing, best you can get next to Chris himself) and he was the best replacement for Reeve who this movie is also dedicated to at the end as it should have been. Routh was very good but is #2 behind Reeve, then the others follow up after Routh including Welling, Cain, and whoever else there is. Routh should also be doing a sequel instead of the recrap coming with a new actor.

  • @videozfann thanks for the correction i was thinking of something else at the time got a bit mixed up :-)

  • @SimsMoyal So what do you think of them doing a recrap with a new actor instead of making a sequel with Routh?

  • @videozfann i think it's the wrong call - a one which they might regert bitterly.

Brandon is such a Superman it is obviously that he is natural for the part - if the film didn't answer their expection they should have wrote the story better - cause Brandon did it like he is flying since he is a teenager.

  • @SimsMoyal fock off, have you seen the new guy he is amazing

  • @levitabusman

yea right and i will take it from a stranger with bad spelling skills and a really dirty mouth

LOL you have some really heavy issues ....

  • i watch this film almost every month and wait for this scene ridiculously, everytime.

  • Superman - 0mph to 768 in 5.82 seconds.

  • Epic!

  • as slow as he was movinq aint no way he broke the sound barrier .

  • @akilddddd Ergo, he wasn't moving slowly.

  • I love this change, Christopher Reeve's original run down the street, and then Tom Welling's change atop the rooftop

  • how does those boots fit inside those loafers

  • @ryananderson280195 The loafers are bigger than the boots, custom fitted.

  • I hope this is how Smallville ends.

  • funny that you say this because it ended kind of like this scene except it was in the Fortress

  • note to clark LET THE DOOR SHUT ON THE ELEVATOR BEFORE YOUR FLY OFF!!!! LOL

  • @nottinghampokerpro He already checked the place out with heat-vision and saw noone was watching him.

  • @TheWorstWarlock BULLSHIT

  • @nottinghampokerpro How's it bullshit?

  • Comment removed

  • I have no idea what the @TheWorstWarlock is on

  • @joshuaselig i mean't x-ray vision, not heat. It's obvious he would have done that, isn't it. Wouldn't you if you were him?

  • the fx people fucked up the colour correction

  • that would be impossible , everybody would be like " WTF WAS THAT COMING OUT FROM THAT BUILDING ??!! HE BROKE ALL THE FUCKING WINDOWS WITH THE SUPER SONIC BOOM ! THANKS SUPERMAN !!!

  • 0:30 - I love it when he breaks the sound barrier, he's never done that before. Although he probably has, they've just never had the special effects to do it until now.

  • what i dongt inderstand is why he was flyinq so damn slow in the whole ,ovie .

  • 0:29 is how I felt after I lost my virginity.

  • too bad they ditched him for cavill. 007 is played exclusively by brits .Great american superheros should be played by americans , superman more than anyone else.

  • also at the speed he flies over the sea at'' the waves and water would've been elevating from its surface''

  • so, his cape just comes down his shirt into his pants?

His shoes come off when clothes hit it?

I think someone would fint the clothes on the elevator ground.

I think someone would find a hole in the roof.

And the Elevator top door was already open.

I dont think he's that rich to buy new clothes and glasses.

  • @PredatorCade777 because you buy the fact that in a age of social media , biometric scan , global internet news , he can fool everyone just by putting on glasses ???! most superhero mythos is basically and utterly flawed . It's beyond repair . They're 30's concept and are intrisecly not very concerned about realism . The way superman gets rid of his business suit and put on his costume matches this ridiculous way of hiding himself .

  • @nedalnekbrad On the contrary, it's a pretty good way. Why? Because do you honestly think people are looking at the streets for Superman, or are they looking at the sky? If he's not in the sky or wearing his awesome outfit, he isn't there. So people aren't just going to take pictures of Clark and compare them, are they? No, they aren't even going to give him a second look.

  • i really love this scene !!!!!!

  • awesome scene

still one of my favorite superheroes

  • I was always wondering...does he picks his clothes back? or does he just have 1000 clothes?

  • this part was appalling..simply Superman's speed was about as fast as snail on steriods!!!.....his other super-ability which is rarely covered is speed-teleportation'' in which he's soo fast it would fundimentally seem he's in 4 or 5 places at one time...like that of which was featured in Superman ll,....this returns movie was awful...and his speed was equally terrible''...Superman can move outside time...he wouldnt need to be thois slow''

  • @apollonas101 Yes, well, you are referring to the second most retarded part of Superman 2.

If he could move that fast in Superman 2, then he wouldn't have needed to spend so much time getting the two individual missiles in Superman 1, which everyone agrees is the superior movie.

Could he go back in time in that movie, sure, but that was also dumb. If he can go so fast as to circumvent the Earth fifty times in under a minute, why did it take so long to get the missiles?

  • @GalacticKnight well..Superman's capabilitys are never ending because there unlimited...as featured in the new ''all star Superman animation.which shows Superman becoming ''pure'' energy'' which gives him speed force,.now Flash fans claime this is impossibility for Superman, but DC have said..Superman is the only Super-hero capable of completly ''anything'' including becoming speed-force its self, however in many various adventures Superman is unaware of his capabiliys until pushed,so your wrong

  • @apollonas101 Yes, but this was never a series of films that directly adapted the comics completely.

This was an adaptation where Superman's powers had strict limits. Not sure where time travel figures in, until you figure that he can go the speed of light in space due to lack of win resistance. In fact, Returns has even stricter limits on him that even the first film didn't.

Where did that quote, that Superman could do anything, come from?

  • @GalacticKnight it was at the DC NATION Convention Kickoff! , J. Michael Straczynski put it in far better context, than i possibly could, but he said when pushed to his limites Superman dispalys powers that arre unlimited, in effect being capable of everything and anything

  • @apollonas101 Which is probably why people balk at his comics.

Every hero needs limits. Superman's limits can be far above everyone elses, but he needs limits.

  • @apollonas101 Also, you never answered my question, now that I think about it. I asked why it took so long for him to get the missiles if he can move at the speed of light.

    Well?

  • @GalacticKnight moving outside time or even beyond the speed of light'' in some cases sensitive times is not aquired, because what he's chasing can be harmful to humanity if not approached with care or at the correct speed,Superman can not only control his own speed, but the atmosphere round him also within and outside the tims and space speed frame!!

  • @apollonas101 Oh, okay.

  • actually on earth superman is limited to like mach 15 cause any faster and he's gonna tear the atmosphere apart.

  • @MrHoppers002 the cannon version and the man of tomorrow version of Superman are limitless....and you mention the atmosphere''...Superman can indeed maintain and contain the atmospheric and chemical reaction and change within closed space, ...thats why even whenhe flys through the ciys the cars and people dont fly up in the air or windows break when he passes them

  • i didn't say that mach 15 was as fast as superman can go. I'm saying he doesn't go faster than mach 15. You do know mach 15 is pretty fast. I remember a issue saying that superman can go as fast as he wants in space but on earth he has to calculate his speed and all tha stuff.

  • @MrHoppers002 ahh i see,..well Superman can travell a great deal faster than that!! outside time'' and he's able to bend time back on it's self where there is no time'' so if you like Superman can if he chooses move beyond time!!!

  • yeah i saw the first movie where he went back in time. Or in smallville where he moves so fast it's like time stops.

  • @apollonas101 Wait, hang on... *revives topic*

If he needs to chase down the missiles carefully to avoid breaking them, then why do you claim he can move through the atmosphere unimpeded? Surely it's subject to the same limitations and would go on crazy shock waves should he not carefully calculate his speed...

  • @GalacticKnight no because the atmosphere within and outside Superman are the opposite and he can in facyt control both, as featured in the movies and animation, Superman calculates everything hence the training he had in the fortress before exposing himself to the world and also learning how our science effects him and how his effects us

  • I don't know about you, but I think the biggest talent Superman has is being able to keep that perfect little curl perfect all the time no matter what crap he's been through....I LOVE SUPERMAN RETURNS!!!

  • I love this part. He's like...Lois or Metropolis? Lois, Metropolis...

  • I still love him as Supes

  • This was a pretty good superman change. I just don't like how when Clark is walking to the elevator and see's that people are coming out he looks down and tries to hid his face. Is it suspicious for Clark to ride the elevator? Does he usually take the stairs and people would think it out of character to ride the elevator for a change. But the part I like best is where he actually flys through the roof of the daily planet. If you are in a hurry, you don't have time to worry about breaking a roof

  • @HomeGymFitness He did that because he didn't want Ricard to notice him.

  • @TheWorstWarlock ROFL. OMFG. I have watched this movie literally over a 100 times and I have never noticed Richard standing there. Observation FAIL. Thanks

  • @HomeGymFitness no prob.

  • @HomeGymFitness I always thought that he didnt want Richard to see him.

  • If he can fly at the speed of light, Why does it take him so long to catch the missals in superman 1? why does it take him 10 minutes to get to Paris in superman 2? ex ex ex.......

  • The best superman change, if they do another superman film, they need to base lex on the one from smallville because that is one bad ass evil lex who made the lex's in the films look like a joke...especially this one.....for me the film was a let down because lex himself was a let down....

  • At Comics 2film.com, it is discussed that Routh may play Superman in another movie. I hope that if he does play Superman, they go back too the classic Superman look. In this movie, the reds are not bright enough, the belt needs too be about where his waist is and not so low. It made his legs look too short. His costume should be reflect his character. One of brightness and hope.

  • The bit where he breaks the sound barrier never fails to give my chills. :D

  • how realistic is it that his hair changes that fast?

  • @Galygal77 He's superman, so pretty freaking realistic.

  • @Galygal77 How realistic is it that a man can fly and people accept him even if he wears his red underwear on the outside and a cape? Just sayin'... suspending reality is the point of Superman.

  • It's brilliant how it's fast, but still slow enough to see instead of just a flash from one suit into the other.

  • People around the world dislike Brandon Routh because he's not like Christopher Reeve, I believe Christopher wouldn't have judged Brandon Routh, in fact he would've supported him, he would've passed the torch.

  • 0:31 sonic boom?

  • Great scene but why did he fly right up into the clouds, only to come straight back down and fly just above the water?

  • @masere Because he's superman.

  • yeaah theres a random hole in the top of the lift/elevator :)

  • what's the song in the backround? i know its the theme, but what's it called on the soundtrack?

  • best part of the movie

  • Best scene in the film, unfortunately there was still an hour plus left to go.

  • Did you see that he has already get ripped of his pants and shoes, when he's doing his shirt-thing:-)

    Non the less......dope scene

  • i love the bit were he breaks the sound barrier

  • @halo3lad09 Agreed.

  • @halo3lad09 yea that rules, Glad they did that. Cuz well it would be true. lol

  • @halo3lad09 It looked really cool. Too bad they probably won't show the Silver Age Superman on the big screen anytime soon, though... Silver Age Superman was so powerful he could fly at warp speed and bench-press a planet! ^_^

  • @heavyarms01h because silver age superman is superman on 'roids . He flies faster , punch harder ..... and suck harder . superman fan should understand that except them nobody is interested by a massively overpowered superhero .In this department normal superman is already enough a pain in the ass .

  • @halo3lad09 Yeah, that is a nice touch.

  • One thing you have go to love is the attention to detail. Brandon Routh in reality has brown eyes, and he wears contacts because as you all know, Superman has blue.

  • how the hell did he just fly up? wasn't he in an ELEVATOR????? most have rooves....

  • @poops1 In theory, some have escape hatches at the top in case of emergencies. Who knows.

  • @poops1 Besides, I am still trying to figure out how the devil he was able to reverse time by spinning Earth backwards on its axis.

  • i like the plot throwback to the first superman. lex trying to get land again. ah the good ol days. still think gene beats kevin but thats just me.

  • That is easily the best change scene in any Superman movie. It kicks the crap out of his clothes changing instantly.

  • I agree that this was arguably the coolest costume change in the Superman franchise. Maybe it's that he's still very much "Clark" when he takes off into the air.... or maybe it's the relative nonchalance with which he just casually looks up, points his hand up and takes off as the doors close. I don't care what the naysayers say, it's a kickass scene.

  • Love the way he starts flying even before the elevator doors close and he sheds his clothes.

  • yeah the nxt time be with tom welling.....then see

  • I do lv this part hw all his cloths jst drop off him as he flys up, but don't U think the next time they do work on the lift they will find Clark's pass

  • when smallville finishes in the nxt 12 months the world will be finally given the superman movie we've waited and waited for.....for years, the reason the journey has taken soo long is because the creators want to share with us, why kal-el is the way he is.., and we've never been told or shown this before, also they've introduced other D.C characters to show that however great they are..IN THE END NONE OF THEM CAN COMPARE TO KAL-EL SUPERMAN

  • yes yes yes im afraid dummy...because im conosur of superman and know pretty much ''everything about him''

  • AMEN.

  • superman can move faster than light.....because of his alien molecular cell structure he can move ''outside time'' which goes far beyond any coventional speed know to human kind, kal-el has shown this in the 1978 donner movie and also recently in smallville.....truth is realy...''when pushed kal-el is the only hero capable of absolutly ''anything''

  • I LIKE YOU

  • No. Nononononono. No. NO.

  • Finally i am tired of just clArk kent i want SUPERMAN.

  • wheres the top of the lift? doesnt seem to smash through it...

  • I'm a huge Christopher Reeves fan. So when I say this I don't mean any disrespect.

Christopher Reeves isn't SuperMan. I don't think this guy should have been hired simply because he looks like Christopher Reeves. Which I honestly don't see myself.

  • would've been better with the bigger more convicing tom welling.

  • hell yah well with out the glasses

  • have you noticed when superman flies over sea the crack leads away from the city . but the next shot the crack goes towards the city .

  • Look at Routh's face, I suddenly feel he was a little young for the part but he'll be perfect to continue the role, in whatever fashion WB decides to continue the franchise in.

  • great scene

  • holy shit this gave me goosebumps where he just breaks the soundbarrier with ease

  • You DO know that Supes can fly at the SPEED OF LIGHT, right?

  • Yeah dude but you wouldnt see him flying at the speed of light lol

  • lmao

  • Superman flies faster than the speed of light.

  • Physics be damned!

  • Despite the movie's shortcomings in the action department, several scenes, including this one, are just awesome to watch.

    Thanks for the upload.

  • check out when he breaks the sound barrier!

  • I agree with you th0th.
