@daddylynx2 Cool, so there IS a GPS chip. Does this chip require battery power? If so, do most cell phones have a small internal auxiliary battery for the GPS chip?
@u02incw sadly, in most phones, the "GPS chip" shares a couple of pins that are used by other critical systems for the phones operation. It isn't a law to do this yet, but big phone companies are lobying to make it a law so that they can kill some of these smaller phone companies.
@u02incw For example my Samsung something or other from MetroPCS has a small GPS chip in it. When I removed said chip the battery voltage switch circuit was stuck in the open position, so when I tried to turn it back on it would not. A work around for me was that I would have to modify the chip I removed to basically fault out all of the pins except for the power pins
@u02incw , but I do not have the information on how the chip was programmed, so I do not know what pins to connect my serial port to... so I just re-installed it and created a small faraday cage in my cars center console to keep my phone in.
@daddylynx2 Great idea - the Faraday cage. I'm old-school, and use older dumb phones - don't like smart phones. I wonder if older dumb phones are easier to remove GPS chip on? I also read in a magazine somewhere (Nexus maybe?) that a company had generic GSM phones with no GPS chips in them...

@bastion0700 really? That's interesting- since there are several reasons why the phone basically HAS to keep it's time sync'd with the network... #1: for any GSM or TDMA (time-division multiple access) network such as AT&T, T-Mobile, or the GSM networks in other countries- the tower enables multiple devices to share the same individual frequency (Say 1243Mhz or 1272Mhz, etc.) by instructing each device to communicate with the tower every 40th of a second or so.
This way 40 separate phones can connect to the tower using the same individual frequency- enabling the tower to carry thousands of devices using only a 30mhz range of frequencies or so...
HOWEVER, it is absolutely imperative that all devices synchronize to the network time- or the entire system goes to shit. (This is a big part of why AT&T *STILL* drops calls like it's 1998).
CDMA is much more reliable (Sprint, Verizon, etc.)- and may not depend on network time to function...
Yes, what I said is true, at least for the way the user experiences the clock. But thanks for your post, it is food for thought. I have also (briefly) read info about networks and how they need to sync clocks in order to communicate.. and what you are saying makes some sense to me. Must be a separate clock (to sync network data as you said, perhaps using a delta when compared to the internal cpu / system clock).. different to what the end user sees on their phone clock though.
government have no right snooping into anything the citizens do, they are a contradiction, government is there to preotect you from the exact same thing they are doing to you, they have turned the tables on the people and made the employer think its the employee and too many dumbass ignorant fucks just didnt pay attention and let it happen, tv has played a big part in conditioning people into fearing their government when government should fear its people.
I work very closely with a very well known private investigator who runs a large company in Chicago He was also Army Intelligence for many years. He specifically told me that cell phones can not be tracked when they are turned off.. They can not listen in anymore either because of random digital incription. They are still able to triangulate the signal and find your location, especially if you are moving..or have the GPS turned on.
I put an aluminum foil helmet on my head to keep the government from tracking me and manipulating me from my cell phone. Excuse, me, but I have to take this Call from Elvis. He said that Natalie Wood says Hi to me.
It's all true iphone and windows phone both have patents, to listen to you and photograph with your camera even when it is turned off... not to mention triangulation and gps data.
you must be a robber or thief !... that's why you are so scared... your mobile can also be tracked by your IMEI no.... so you should also remove the antenna... :P
pagers dont have gps n i'm pretty sure they cant even triangulate them, but i wouldn't bet my freedom on it. if ur going to do something serious u should even leave that. but i've been telling ppl the police don't even need wires the way all these ppl carry phones.
if you are still carrying around a phone or worse talking n texting about illegal stuff u deserve to be locked up. get a 1-way pager. make ppl leave their phone somewhere before talking to them and dont take anything w u knowing you're about to commit a crime. the only thing u use a phone for is talking to girls n everyday stuff. 1 way pagers dont give ppl the option to text/say some dumb shit to u on the phone. have a code n go see them
The Top comment is right, you only cause the phone to work less sufficiently by removing the memory retention battery. Tracing can only be accomplished while the phone is turned on.
@rododaniel1972 Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. -Benjamin Franklin
@rododaniel1972 thats hardly the point. we all have rights of freedom that should never be breached. innocent until proven guilty, not guilty until proven innocent.
@rododaniel1972 Well aren't you splendid! Maybe you should let them put a camera in your home and a microchip in your hand, they are going to try soon enough
@rododaniel1972 You have nothing to hide? good we are all coming in and we will be the judge of that. We are also going to stick our hand down your pants and hit on your wife.
you don't have any rights anymore in USA, now, you have the NDAA law passed by the congress and validated by Obama, it's a martial law, and all your rights have been canceled by this new law, if you don't know about it, find out, and you will discover what is the NDAA !
@mossandthesea You're right, but the poor german people, they've lost the war, but not the nazis. And all of this is manipulated by the same oligarchy who manipulate the poor american people.
But the masses are waking up everywhere, and espacially in USA, so we, in Europe count on you guys to kick your corrupted government out who are only puppets of the Rotschild and Rockefeller. If the people from US is able to do so, it will be a big hope for the rest of the world.
@PhiloooVid I was telling a friend that the world was angry with us because we are the hope of the world. Allowing our government to change into this horrible thing has made America something she was never meant to be. What my country needs is a lot of prayer and serious reevaluation of our habits. We need to act more like citizens and less like slaves.
@mossandthesea I have never been angry against the people from USA, your education system sucks, and this is clearly done on purpose by the oligarchy to maintain the masses ignorants, so reading things like you write, intelligent analysis of the situation give me hope. Unfortunately, there are too many people still watching the stupid tv shows and the manipulation of the mainstream medias.
@PhiloooVid We should have more learning and less social engineering in our schools. Paying upwards of 50 to 100 K dollars for a 4 year education is insane. In my state, a university education use to be free. Now any one can go if they have enough money. I agree one just about every observation you've made. Americans are conformist and are afraid to be different from each other. It makes me sad.
@purpleyurp The problem is that if America falls, the alternative is worse than anything in history. We need to stand for something beyond the now. We need to participate in government and not let those who's harm us, run the show.
@mossandthesea not anymore, your stupid president just passed a bill that gives the US military the right to interrogate, assasinate and torture US citizens without a fair trial. your countrys going to shit and most of you aren't even aware whats going on. heres a hint: draw all of your money out of the bank, never buy anything from a large company ever even if you will make a saving. vote for non democrat/republican parties, and research the answer. watch 'zeitgiest 1, 2, 3, and Thrive"
@uyesu If someone tries to take something from you, do you let them or do you try to fight them off? The bill of rights is ours, but we have to protect it at all costs to security and property. Our government feels that we need protection at the expense of our rights. They need to understand that we are just fine. We haven't lost anything, yet.
@mossandthesea Congress has just authorized having as many as 30,000 unmanned drones patrolling the U.S. skies. The FBI and Department of Homeland Security are greatly expanding the definition of extremist and terrorist to include people performing normal activities [such as] objecting to paying taxes or promoting toxin-free gardening to any assembly of people. if you're responsible for no one but yourself(?) good luck.
@rododaniel1972 you say that naively the police arestarting to create crimeand innocent action is regarded as suspect, we were out the othr night for walk police turn up want to search vanm on the pretext there had been a report, there hadnt been, the police wear aggressive to the point of looking for a fight, we were genuinely going for a walk, you think youve got nothing to hide wait till they catch you out, eye opener
Thnkx 4 the video and info.Do You know, maybe where this batteries are hidden on the Nokia phones?I have a Nokia C3-00 model...where can I find this hidden battery?
You need to take the battery out and get rid of your GPS. They now are putting them on your car without your knowledge. Not counting the GPS's the car manufacture's are installing. All a cop has to do is sneak up to a persons car, truck and place it on and you would never know you are being tracked. Wisconsin has that law now. BIG BROTHER IS CONSTANTLY WATCHING YOU AND I...
I don't know if this is connected, but in northeast Oklahoma, I have discovered tall poles with antenna on top being placed just outside several small towns. These poles are about twice the heigth of the utility poles that carry the electric lines. Could they be listening posts or something like that? Look in Narcissa, Ok, & just east of Bluejacket, Ok, and just southeast of Welch, Ok. The poles are in line with the electric lines on the side of the road.
Thanks! Were all cattle to the master minds, their means of money and power. Without us who would be the soldiers to fight THEIR wars. Without us there would be none of them so they keep track of all their cattle(us) like any farmer does! Believe in Big Brother! Come to terms that u are part of the cattle.
The reason it looks like a watch battery is because it is. It provides a small amount of power to remember the time and a few basic hardware settings when your main battery is removed. It is the same for any computer -- called a CMOS battery. It does not provide enough power for GPS, location, or phone signal. Ever notice how your main battery loses power within an hour or two while using GPS or phone? This small battery could not power a radio chip at all. It cannot hold the juice needed.
@mmmelaney True, but if you are woried about it even with the battery installed a much easier way would be to use a small box or container lined with lead or other material that blocks radio waves. You would have to talk to a radio man to discover the best an most easily obtainable material to do that. (Good place to keep your RFID credit cards too.)
@TheHeuristicIslander No, won't work. I use trackers all time to track cheating husbands and wives. I've experimented with tin foil and it did not work. Of course I know your just making a wise crack, like, that's crazy why would anyone want to track someone. Guess you haven't seen the plans for the New World Order yet? Don't worry people like you will find out soon enough only it will be too late to do anything about it.
@UtwoBed Someone please take a frequency analyzer to that thing already!
#1: The transmitter (if it is indeed a transmitter) PROBABLY uses the phone's normal battery 99.999% of the time- and simply has the watch battery so that it can power up for brief periods- and send out a couple packets of very low frequency pings.... The shortwave band is able to travel half-way around the world (with enough power)- which means that there's a possibility for the signal to travel far enough to hit a few..
@larchoye ...hit a few cell towers with enough packets to still triangulate it's position... Also: on a clear night, a low frequency signal could probably easily make it all the way to satellites in orbit (since there's almost nothing getting in the way of the signal)...
OR, they could be using it JUST for powering your microphone and a memory device- which they would then recover at a later time- Either by seizing your phone- OR, just grabbing the data remotely next time you turn it on.
Yeah I am sure you are right. Electronics have been using small batteries to keep the time and basic settings from being wiped for decades. It is a matter of necessity - since people will be very annoyed to find the time needs to be reset every time they remove the battery / when the phone goes flat.
@porty93 Basically if some freak manages to nab the MAC address of your phone they could easily access the GPS to find your location and that would be bad. Finding the address is definitely not trivial but not impossible either. This is an annoying issue with iphones and androids. What's worse with android is that even if you choose to opt out, if there is another person with an android around you can still be discovered.
@porty93 He might be paranoid, I'm not sure, but did you ever hear the story about the man that jumped off of a building because he thought that he was being followed by the CIA? He had called the CIA several times to ask why he was being followed, so of course the CIA started to follow him. In the end it became a self fulfilling prophesy. The same kind of thing may be happening on a much larger scale. Perhaps the govt is spying on all of us in order to catch a criminal before he strikes??????
@V4vendetta1987 pre-emptive action/striking is an unjust excuse of any and every tyrannical entity. To be charged or attacked on cause of suspicious activity is in itself paranoia. No one is guilty of committing a crime unless they are in the act of committing it. Ever see the punisher? He placed all of the suspicous items, and suggestions in place, and travolta's own distrust and evil mindset is what led him to kill his wife and friend. A great movie to reflect why this thinking is wrong.
rofl i think he maybe paranoid XD i opened 4 shit phones that were broken just to see if i could find a battery lmao theres none there..... i just wanted to prove him wrong XD
That little battery is NOT for 911 calls, it is to retain your phone settings, time etc while you replace your main battery in case it becomes dead after repeated charging cycles after few years of use.
your an idiot the battery you pulled out keeps your time on your phone correct... That's it. its not powerful enough to keep the connection to the towers active. And if you are really that paranoid make yourself a tinfoil case for it (shiny side in contact with the phone)
@TheBronsonAshton Your phone CAN still be tracked when the battery is out. Experiment using aluminum foil. Make two calls from another phone to your test phone, and attempt to leave a message each time: 1) Battery out, no foil. 2) Battery in OR out (doesn't matter), plus foil. First try, you should be able to leave a message. Battery out, no foil means phone won't ring but CAN STILL BE LOCATED. 2nd try (with foil)= no ring, and no message.
@FoodOrFail Re my last comment -- I have an older flip phone, and this is what I have observed when taking the main battery out. I'm too scared I'll mess it up to look inside for another battery. Still, if I wanted to ensure it couldn't be tracked, I'd use foil.
@FoodOrFail just use the dang foil... reason number 1 it will block all outgoing and incoming transmissions 2 it wont void your warranty and 3 FoodorFail is an id10t because the battery doesn't track you and 4 dont get a phone because all your sms mms ext. are all stored on the cell companies servers and they store where you were at when you sent it so if you really are this paranoid don't get a phone.
@TheBronsonAshton I never said the battery could track you. The tower tracks you - PERIOD. I also said foil is the only sure protection. Why you attacked me, when I actually agree with you, is beyond me. Next!

I work very closely with a very well known private investigator who runs a large company in Chicago He was also Army Intelligence for many years. He specifically told me that cell phones can not be tracked when they are turned off.. They can not listen in anymore either because of random digital incription. They are still able to triangulate the signal and find your location, especially if you are moving..or have the GPS turned on.

if you are still carrying around a phone or worse talking n texting about illegal stuff u deserve to be locked up. get a 1-way pager. make ppl leave their phone somewhere before talking to them and dont take anything w u knowing you're about to commit a crime. the only thing u use a phone for is talking to girls n everyday stuff. 1 way pagers dont give ppl the option to text/say some dumb shit to u on the phone. have a code n go see them

PhiloooVid 1 month ago
@PhiloooVid I was telling a friend that the world was angry with us because we are the hope of the world. Allowing our government to change into this horrible thing has made America something she was never meant to be. What my country needs is a lot of prayer and serious reevaluation of our habits. We need to act more like citizens and less like slaves.
mossandthesea 1 month ago
@mossandthesea I have never been angry against the people from USA, your education system sucks, and this is clearly done on purpose by the oligarchy to maintain the masses ignorants, so reading things like you write, intelligent analysis of the situation give me hope. Unfortunately, there are too many people still watching the stupid tv shows and the manipulation of the mainstream medias.

@PhiloooVid We should have more learning and less social engineering in our schools. Paying upwards of 50 to 100 K dollars for a 4 year education is insane.

ACEOFTHUNDER666 4 months ago
The reason it looks like a watch battery is because it is. It provides a small amount of power to remember the time and a few basic hardware settings when your main battery is removed. It is the same for any computer -- called a CMOS battery. It does not provide enough power for GPS, location, or phone signal. Ever notice how your main battery loses power within an hour or two while using GPS or phone? This small battery could not power a radio chip at all. It cannot hold the juice needed.
mmmelaney 4 months ago 41
@mmmelaney
agreed , and if the government wanted to do that to us then they will enforce a software into every phone sold to us and it will be much easier to do
MuslimBinMuslim 2 months ago
@mmmelaney exactly i dont really trust this guy just looking at the way he just kinda rips it apart and whatnot
cjwolfer 1 month ago
@mmmelaney True, but if you are woried about it even with the battery installed a much easier way would be to use a small box or container lined with lead or other material that blocks radio waves. You would have to talk to a radio man to discover the best an most easily obtainable material to do that. (Good place to keep your RFID credit cards too.)

TheHeuristicIslander 1 month ago
@TheHeuristicIslander No, won't work. I use trackers all time to track cheating husbands and wives. I've experimented with tin foil and it did not work. Of course I know your just making a wise crack, like, that's crazy why would anyone want to track someone. Guess you haven't seen the plans for the New World Order yet? Don't worry people like you will find out soon enough only it will be too late to do anything about it.
UtwoBed 1 month ago
@UtwoBed Someone please take a frequency analyzer to that thing already!
#1: The transmitter (if it is indeed a transmitter) PROBABLY uses the phone's normal battery 99.999% of the time- and simply has the watch battery so that it can power up for brief periods- and send out a couple packets of very low frequency pings.... The shortwave band is able to travel half-way around the world (with enough power)- which means that there's a possibility for the signal to travel far enough to hit a few..
larchoye 1 month ago
@larchoye ...hit a few cell towers with enough packets to still triangulate it's position... Also: on a clear night, a low frequency signal could probably easily make it all the way to satellites in orbit (since there's almost nothing getting in the way of the signal)...
OR, they could be using it JUST for powering your microphone and a memory device- which they would then recover at a later time- Either by seizing your phone- OR, just grabbing the data remotely next time you turn it on.
larchoye 1 month ago
@mmmelaney
Yeah I am sure you are right. Electronics have been using small batteries to keep the time and basic settings from being wiped for decades. It is a matter of necessity - since people will be very annoyed to find the time needs to be reset every time they remove the battery / when the phone goes flat.

your abit paranoid arnt ya fella
porty93 5 months ago
@porty93 Basically if some freak manages to nab the MAC address of your phone they could easily access the GPS to find your location and that would be bad. Finding the address is definitely not trivial but not impossible either. This is an annoying issue with iphones and androids. What's worse with android is that even if you choose to opt out, if there is another person with an android around you can still be discovered.
GreasemonkeyCGI 4 months ago
@porty93 He might be paranoid, I'm not sure, but did you ever hear the story about the man that jumped off of a building because he thought that he was being followed by the CIA? He had called the CIA several times to ask why he was being followed, so of course the CIA started to follow him. In the end it became a self fulfilling prophesy. The same kind of thing may be happening on a much larger scale. Perhaps the govt is spying on all of us in order to catch a criminal before he strikes??????
V4vendetta1987 4 months ago
@V4vendetta1987 pre-emptive action/striking is an unjust excuse of any and every tyrannical entity. To be charged or attacked on cause of suspicious activity is in itself paranoia. No one is guilty of committing a crime unless they are in the act of committing it. Ever see the punisher? He placed all of the suspicous items, and suggestions in place, and travolta's own distrust and evil mindset is what led him to kill his wife and friend. A great movie to reflect why this thinking is wrong.

FoodOrFail 7 months ago
@FoodOrFail Re my last comment -- I have an older flip phone, and this is what I have observed when taking the main battery out. I'm too scared I'll mess it up to look inside for another battery. Still, if I wanted to ensure it couldn't be tracked, I'd use foil.
FoodOrFail 7 months ago
@FoodOrFail just use the dang foil... reason number 1 it will block all outgoing and incoming transmissions 2 it wont void your warranty and 3 FoodorFail is an id10t because the battery doesn't track you and 4 dont get a phone because all your sms mms ext. are all stored on the cell companies servers and they store where you were at when you sent it so if you really are this paranoid don't get a phone.
TheBronsonAshton 7 months ago
@TheBronsonAshton I never said the battery could track you. The tower tracks you - PERIOD. I also said foil is the only sure protection. Why you attacked me, when I actually agree with you, is beyond me. Next!
