@herpboy13 Since no one has answered, sand is sand. The only difference is the coarseness, which you can use for different effects. The only thing to be aware of is moisture. Do not use wet sand. Spread it to dry and seal your leftovers to use later. A buddy bakes his dirt and sand in an oven to get rid of moisture and possible organics.
Can you do a tutorial demonstrating specifically how to do dry-brushing and washes or anything else a beginner might need to know. Thanks and great vids!
@megaforse I will definitely be doing these tutorials in the future, but I will need to wait until I can afford a proper video camera to show them. Thanks a lot.
@prophetsofpenance You can use bark, though one of my friends has had issues when storing models in moist environments. Another great substitute is cork. I just wanted to demonstrate a different way of doing rocks, but either of those ways are also great.
Thank you i have been looking for something to do with my Dreadnought, because its base is plain still. That will soon be changed. :)

Awesome base!!! In a few days comes my first Marine that needs (my first model was a Landspeeder) a base and I like these rocky bases very much.
Good video!!!

Planning on doing a bunch of terminators so I'm definitly going to use this method for basing!
Truely beautiful and easy basing guide.
On a side note, I think roof slating would make a good substitute if you're stuck.

Very nice. I assume you use a air brush?

@manuber14 Hey there. Thanks for the comment. I actually did not use an airbrush. I only used a standard Citadel Drybrush for the entire base.
