  • The PR is wonderous good job

  • Microsoft is already working on this technology for the Xbox 360. Look it up, it's called "mega meshes". However, I doubt many 360 games will use the technology in full until the next generation arrives. First it was transition to HD gaming, next it will be tessellation. It's clearly the next trend in game development.

  • @dance2noise002 If the 360 does this in 6 year old hardware, I expect massive slowdowns and an extremely low resolution.

  • I'd sure like to get my hands on a Kepler for my show and do a review on it. N-Vidia all the way!

  • I absolutely love NVidia, but I hate how they are constantly making their cards obsolete. Don't get me wrong, I love progress, but it's frsutrating when you spend over $400 on a GPU for it only to be considered old news in a few months. Also, this demo along with endless city runs flawlessly at 1080p on my GTX470. Only NVidia doesn't want you to know that

  • What?! Games don't use technology on the same level as carefully controlled tech demos?

FUCKING CONSOLES!! IT'S ALL THEIR FAULT!!

Besides, everyone knows all PC gamers have GTX 580s, right?

  • @minxamo You don't need a fucking fucking GTX580 to outperform a console! The Nvidia GT 8800 is from 2007 and it has about 3x the graphical performance of a console! And guess what! You can get one of those for about 200 USD! Pathetic.

  • @SuckMyNoseBetch Then why was this demonstration done on GTX 580 SLI?

  • @minxamo I did not have the demonstration in mind, I was just talking about gaming in general!

  • @minxamo not really i have GTX 560 ti and others dont even have GTX's

  • Damn man I miss the old games, I cant feel emotions on the new games WHY??????

I miss the Heretic II, Drakan:order of the flame,Blade of darkness.Star trek the fallen etc... I fucking miss the old games. I dont feel anything in the new games. theyre all crap.

  • @nvidia Dear nVidia! I'd like to use the alien's textures for studying purposes. I'm trying to implement this algorithm, but I can't make any proper textures on my own. Could you, or somebody here tell me, how can i open the tessman.npk file? I managed to view it in a text editor, and found out that the textures are in tga format, but I cannot extract the files nor find any tool on the internet to do the extraction.

  • Activision? Perhaps they are using this technology in Prototype 2

  • :megusta:

  • GOD DAMMIT why aren't more games using this?!?! The consoles are holding us back! BURN THEM!

  • @levimoreno give it more time man. games arent made in a week.

  • @FB2K6 and if there were then there would be too many games

  • @tonythedemon too many shitty games :P

Great games are hard to make

  • @levimoreno Don't blame the consoles. Blame the publishers that have developers make games for consoles.

  • @levimoreno The consoles are holding us back and they always will. Because Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony dont want there systems to have the latest and greatest stuff, that would be too expensive and would lower their profits:( But luckily games are not all about graphics, so we still do get some games with awesome stories and gameplay:D

  • @levimoreno Cause games are all about graphics? I prefer consoles over pc because pc simply doesnt have great games imo, Yes it is very powerful but unless i want to play WOW pc isnt for me, I want to play games like god of war, Uncharted, Gears, Halo, Alan wake, Heavy rain, etc. you dont find games like that on pc

  • @levimoreno But... if it weren't for consoles slowing down the progress of PC gaming, we'd have to upgrade every year do to how fast PC technology is going.

  • >our friends

    >Activision

nigga u just went full retard

  • @MsBickle76

    >trying to greentext on youtube

    >you just went full retard

  • How did they do the animation blending for the different posture and walks :O

  • If Starcraft is ever made into an FPS/RPG (ghost?)

    Procedural healing for Zerg :D

  • Imagine Transformers

  • Wow, Hardware Tesselation does not just give more detail, it can also transform characters more naturally, cool! :D Only wonder what the limits are as making characters transform/mutate has always been an issue in games.

  • 1:41 I saw predator's kid

  • i wonder if they can make the same thing but with the seasons/weather .imagine a elder scrolls game where in the spring the snow is melting ,plants are growing and the flowers bloom

  • @muresanadi88 Check out the new Unreal engine features, when making terrain you can select wind or water eroded option, it then changes the terrain via tesslation.

Though not real time it is pretty cool

  • jaja dual gtx 580s? i run this with a single 560 ti whit no problems or errors...in 1080p :D

2 gtx 580? corro esto con una sola gtx 560 ti sin errores ni problemas en 1080p...

  • The problem with graphics on consoles becomin this good, is that games will then take much, much longer to create.

  • @oBLACKIECHANoo No, when the technology is already created the developers just need to apply them. Wonder how Call of Duty gets its annual release? Activision does not have to create a new engine for the sledgehammer and Treyarch.

  • @talibala You clearly have no idea how game development works. The engine has nothing to do with it, it is merely the box wich the game is created in nothing more, the engine doesn't change the fact that as console become more powerful, you can use more detailed models, wich take alot longer to make, along with paricles, textures, ai, etc etc. Then when adding tech like this to it, it gets even more complicated, wich in the end will be too much.

  • @oBLACKIECHANoo

That is incorrect. Computer and console(cough) are becoming powerful enough in each generation to replace old technique for faking graphics. Shadow map is heavily used in ps1-ps2 generation but it took a noticeable developing time to process the map from 3d/2d software. In today and future generation, games will be running on real lighting which saves countless developing time. Tessellation can help game developer by creating low polygon models and let computer do the rest.

  • @DarkAnimeWindSlayer No it isn't incorrect, i should know, i am a 3d artist. And as consoles become more powerful, and they have increased storage on the disk, it will take alot more work to create games. Since they are bigger and have alot more detail. Things like tessellation don't make a difference, you still need to create a really, really detailed model, then the tesselation works from that and starts to lower the polyons, it can't raise them from the original because that causes problems.

  • @TheRobin1232 No it isn't it barely managed 40% increase over the 8800GTX

  • @TheRobin1232 The CPU is a tri core architecture, using no threads, and running at a slightly higher clock than the previous gens.

It may have slighly higher amounts of L1/2/3 cash, or it might incorporate a different tech all together, but its nintendo, they like there consoles cheap.

And please don't talk about stuff if you don't understand the basics. The R700 card is a rehashed version from there 2005 model, just like every Nvida card from the 8800 to the 260 was just a rehash.

  • @TheRobin1232 Its rumored to be the R700, which is near identical to the 360 except its runs at a slightly higher clock

  • @TheRobin1232 The wii is using the same card as the 360, just slightly higher clock

  • MatroxのParhelia Displacement Mapping Demoにも

    エイリアンが出てきたのをを思い出すな

  • Just something to corrupt your mind about aliens =/

  • no console i guess :DD

  • Yeah, but you'll need a GTX 580 SLI and the highest possible i7 configuration to get that going. My current card was one of the last to have DX 10.1 ... bummer.

  • @almann1117 lol me too :(

  • @WeAreChuckNorris it was more missing a comma ,

    "No, Developers won't be using"

  • @WeAreChuckNorris Erm thats correct English? which part confuses you?

Im annoyed that console developers just make shitty ports that look great on Consoles, and look like 5 years old on PC's, when the next generation of consoles come out, graphics on PC and consoles will drasticly improve in quality, both graphics and AI.

I hate consoles for holding back games in terms of graphics by being stuck with 5 year old tech.

27 people understood me fine, maybe you need to improve your english?

  • 3:51

and not a single fuck was given after going through puberty, getting an infection and having your shoulder burnt off.

  • That guy needs to see a doctor.

  • In 10 years... Gaming is one living being... A new life form... Well I think it is 10 years. Look back at what whe had at 2001. Now we have this. In 10 years.... 10 years... Scary....?

  • woah cool

  • that alien has like a 10 pack

  • Damn technology ,you're awesome

  • i have a amd 5770 HD Such a piece of shit ! nvidia rules !!!

  • @BrainMusicTV cool send it my way.

  • This could revolutionise gore :)

  • I love nvidia :)

  • Woulda been epic to have in Dead Space :D

  • This would be perfect for a new Darkstalkers game.

  • ELEJENTLY?

  • omg this is alien cruelty!!! LEAVE ALIEN ALONE!!! WHY WONT U LEAVE ALIEN ALONE?!?!

  • Hope FROSTBITE 2.0 ENGINE USES THAT Tessellation! ON battlefield 3!

  • @Suprnovo3 Seems you don't know much about game engines then, it will lower the complexity of a mesh by what the designer programs it too

  • @Suprnovo3 thats what i said? It isnt tesslation that decreases the complexity of geomatry, its just what a engine does automaticly..

  • @Suprnovo3 Tesslation doesn't decrease geomatry further away, it just uses sub d on the polys as they get closes.

tesslation does can not decrease tris to polys, unless it was programmed too, which it wouldnt technicly be tesslation then i guess.

i would rarther leave tesslation to zbrush or 3ds max where it can be used to its fullest

  • @Suprnovo3 erm no? Tesslation is the act of cutting a polygon into 8 tris, which cause smoother edges on rounded surfaces, but drastic increase system resources

Learn what esslation is, its a great open in 3d modling great for high poly renders for normal maps not for putting it into a game engine.

Also if your gonna google information stop, after studing this at uni it annoys me when devs try and shoe horn it in

  • @Suprnovo3 Have you ever tried enabling tesslation on a video game? even on high end video cards it destroys performance

having a video card split a poly into tris on the fly kills performance, so yes duel cards would be needed to run something like this full scale.

  • @Suprnovo3 That makes no sense btw, duel 580's are needed, and if your using it good for you

  • 2:37 - 2:42 that head looks so fake xD

  • I got it to work perfectly at a constant framerate on a single gtx 450

  • The next generation of consoles will feature DDR5 memory in their GPUs.

That's taking it to a next generation.

  • I downloaded it on my dell latitude d630 and it comes up with an error. The error says, "The procedure entry point CreateEventExA could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll." Help?

  • Thats, great. Really nice fluid change, i could see tha being used in a very graphic war game :P

  • neat.jpg

  • Imagine a Terminator game which such technology...

  • @baggedandblown now, that is a really good idea.

  • @baggedandblown imagine a zombie game with this technology... LOL

  • @Peace7Maker A whole new level of mutilation...

  • @baggedandblown i hope so terminator games would utilize such technology in the future buddy....ps3,360 owners..epic fail...nothing is as smooth as the pc...nvidia..epicwin!!!!

  • @baggedandblown i,m selling of my ps3 soon...to get an nvidia gtx 590...cool tis is awesome!!!!

  • Why do they have decent settings when they show the monitor, then the settings go to shit when they do the full screen view

  • As said before, works great with GTX460 (768MB). Smooth framerate.

  • It's still a little unclear if the underskin layers are additional models

or blended shaders. Overall it's nothing mindblowing that was shown here.

Ok it's realtime, but the tech is from 80-90s cg. I'm still waiting for

voxel rendering, check out Carmack's talk on this topic.

  • i have it, teh 580 is worth the money

  • Proof that Consoles are not needed.

  • @Suprnovo3 nvidia does beat ati but most of its products are overrated so if you have the money to get that few extra frames without overclocking go ahead and waste money for Nvidia but if you have a lower budget then go ATI as they are neck and neck and you can still overclock them to Nvidias potential so it really is based on money and your own capabilities oh and the games u play heh makes all the difference

  • couldn't this theoretically be used to give accurate damage to an enemy in a first person shooter? by which their flesh would rip open precisely where they are shot? if so, this is the sort of technology that has been sort after for years!

  • Thats it! iv decided to Tessellation or is it tessellate my girlfriend!!! endless possibilities and positions..

  • I wish this guy was my dad :P

  • Duel GTX 580s needed to power that.

No developers wont be using it for a few years, by then tessellation may be in the next generation of consoles and suddenly graphics boom.

I hate consoles + lazy developers

  • @vallyshooter i play this with my gtx 460 juust fine

  • @fuzzywinkle8310 Now try running a game that has more than just one character, then see if you can run it

  • @vallyshooter well yeah in a real time environment my card would get demolished lol. I thought you were talking mainly about the demo

  • @fuzzywinkle8310 No i meant if it was used in a game

  • @vallyshooter i think he said "a" gtx 580.

  • @yuske05 He said he was showing off a GTX580 with activision, then goes on to say, we also wanted to show off this tech demo

  • @vallyshooter

Dual 580s? I ran this smooth as babyass with a single 470.

  • @xalener Yes, and if you give me your bank details i'll give you £300,000,000 because i am from an Arabian oil family.

See how i can make stuff up too?

  • @vallyshooter

    lolwut. Alright, dude. Fraps time.

  • @xalener Thank you <3

As long as its running at 1080p with full AA/AF and tesslation just like this demo :)

  • @vallyshooter

This is going to be fun.

  • @vallyshooter

Oh yeah man, because the second you see some new tech, you expect it to be instantly in all your fucking games as of one year ago. Check out Aliens Vs. Predator, it makes use of tessalation and is a few years old now.

    Fucking self entitled bitch.

  • @MuletTheGreat Your talking out your damn ass, Tessellation has been around for years, since 2005 with OpenGL, 3D model software use them as well, meaning it has been in them since around 2002 to allow lower sub-div on modles.

Where did i say i EXPECT it to be used? Oh that'sright NOWHERE< i said it WON'T be used, because consoles are the majority, so developers use the tech on consoles.

Unreal engine has ONLY just implemented Tesslation this year, same as the crytek engine,

  • Honestly, the animators here are top notch, and aren't getting enough credit.

The textures thing is neat though.

  • Oh boy, I'm sure game developers would be ALL OVER this technology, if they weren't too busy making brown n' bloom shooters for consoles.

  • why i thing this is another trick to grab our money?

you can put that Triangles Tessellation right up in your ass as far as devs just copy paste data from consoles to pc

  • @Xboxshqip On the contrary. Developers, in reality, create the game on a computer.

The game itself could be coded to a specific console, and then ported to PC (as is done for GTA IV), and the ported game is usually of lower quality than that of the original.

  • @MrCurryGuts what ever i have an pc and an 360 and i still not sure if should i upgrade my 9600gso

cos the pc haven't really done nothing new ill not spend my money to play just crysis

for how cool that game is is not worth it the money

  • @Xboxshqip If you're thinking about upgrading your computer for Crysis, then it probably isn't worth it.

Crysis 2 will be released on March 22nd for the Xbox 360.

  • @MrCurryGuts Yes but Even though they dumbed down the Engine for the 360, The PC engine will be unaltered.

  • @EliteMon1995 True, Console version won't even come close to the Graphics on the pc, however the console's are a way cheaper way to game... even though I won't turn into console gaming for ass long ass you can't use your mouse and keyboard to play.

  • i imagine this effect on a future soldier of fortune or for a left 4 dead 3

  • DAT RAZER KEYBOARD

  • Developers can now render realistic erections! :D

  • Too bad we won't see this in games for years, especially since consoles are just too slow with upgrading their hardware.

  • Or a Terminator game with this, blast the t800 or t1000 and they just keep coming :D

  • This plus a hulk game. You could have hulk take dmg even down to his bones and just heal again :D OMFG, Give hulk game with this now!

  • Hope elder scrolls 5 uses this! Or something even better! o.O

  • @silversobe it wont for current gen consoles sakes

  • @imnotstpid Damn..guess we will have to wait for the next gen consoles in about 5 years or so..

  • @silversobe unfortunately =[ although i read something last week about seeing them in 2012 or 2013 so not that far off

  • @silversobe

They might not make more consoles.

  • @Usul573 I'm sure they will eventually, the hardware is limited and new tech is constantly being developed.

  • @silversobe

It's no where near as limited as it used to be, at times someone casually looking might not be able to tell the difference between PS2-PS3/Xbox-Xbox 360, so what does the future hold?

Doing a game entirely streaming might be the future, or something else, video game consoles might just go away at some point.

  • @silversobe Dude, if it does, I'm specializing in Destruction magic. >=D

  • @silversobe They won't. Because consoles.

  • @silversobe

It won't. Do you know why? Because you have to use DX11 to get it done, which means the crappy consoles won't be able to handle it. TES 5 aren't PC exclusive.

  • @silversobe

    hem

    consoles do not allow this

  • @silversobe it would be awesome though. Like the top layer is your armour and diferent armour has different densities. Then instead of having set values for everything like armour protection levels ect they shud have it all physics based. :)

  • @msigt740 Hell yea! A totally physics based game would be epic, this would make each play unique in its own way. Weapons able to snap, twist, and scratch along with armor and even flesh. Not forgetting 100% interactive environments all physics based. Its coming, hopefully soon. That would be one hell of a game.

  • @silversobe it wont

  • @silversobe ...Mayyyn! you just read my mind. Elder Scrolls skyrim will be epic

  • Why does that alien always limp to the left? Doesn't he have anything better to do than wak in circles?

  • this is awesome, but let's imagine Crysis 3 using this technology...........shit our PCs will be so expensive by then just to run it on a decent setting....

  • @MrShadowz1337 Well not really as tech advances it gets cheaper

  • @Theicemonkeyjr ya u mean the Moore's Law? Still, it's expensive. Imagine playing Crysis 3 with all this technology at the maximum highest setting.......it's still gonna be expensive to build.....I'm hoping for the day where we can build a high-end gaming rig for just $200.

  • This is how spore should of been like.

  • imagine shooting an alien like this ina game and then see it walk with a hole in his chest trying to kill you you can basically be creative on how to kill the aliens imagine shooting off a part of the head

thankyou nvidia oh and look at atis new dx11 demo LOL looks like a game from 2003

  • cant wait to see this myself with my 570 for christmas!!

  • @Theicemonkeyjr im getting my 2nd for christmas :D

  • Would love to see this put to use on Alex Mercer.

    HELL YEA

  • @zergrush1111 Prototype 3, we can only wait!

  • oi you lazy nvidia shitnuggets, you better bump out a new driver for the 400 series that fixes the native upscaling bug asap! 260.99 is just a fuckin mess!

  • can u also try this with ati cards?!?!

  • @jlddd123

    The technology? Yes.

The demo itself? It's an Nvidia demo so probably won't allow it to run on an AMD card, but there's probably a way to get around that.

  • That's amazing!

  • These guys need desktop chord management.

  • This video is good enough to slap the consoles fanboy that PC is the father of all games. Hands down*

  • the light doesn't come from a sun as one would probably think - the shadow always is on the left side of the alien and it walks in circles ;)

  • the cool part is it will work on AMD GPU

  • Ηοw nice! What a pitty that most of the console ports in the PC still use DIRECTX9!!!

  • @panathatube

    They still look good though.

  • @Usul573

Yes they do look good... But believe me not as good as they could have been! Take NFS Hot Pursuit for example... No antialiasing...

  • @panathatube

Sometimes games put on PC just don't support all the high end options.

Try forcing AA, patching it, editing the config, or just run it at a really high resolution so you don't really need AA.

Always going to be some titles that should have more options.

  • too bad you wont see this awesome little updated tech in any game for at least 4 years because of the retarded console generation we live in currently.

  • @ethicks

They don't have to make games on consoles.

  • @Usul573

yes, they do. Consoles pull in more money than PC games. If you count the amount of PC exclusive games in the last 5 years you would be able to hold the number up with 1 hand. If you counted the amount of games that were released on consoles and skipped on PC you would need to make a list and it would take you shy of 2 hours. Stupid retard =)

  • @ethicks

And what do you mean retarded? Not only is that an offensive term to some people but the consoles are capable of very beautiful games too.

  • @ethicks buying a pc that could do this would cost a fortune, when pc's can offer more bang for your buck than a console, you will see more people buying pc's for gaming. looks like crap on a 300 dollar pc compared to the 300 dollar ps3 or xbox

  • @MrMj357

wrong. No one buys a 300 dollar console. First you buy a console, that sets you back 300, then you buy controllers ($60 each) then if you buy an xbox it requires you to buy a monthly subscription of 60 dollars a year just to play games online. Not to mention all games on consoles are MORE expensive than PC games by upwards of $10 dollars. PC games DLC is generally always free and xbox/psn users have to pay for what PC gamers get for free. So PC = free, cheaper, better looking.

  • @ethicks plus a controller comes with the console I only have one controller just like I only have 1 mouse and 1 keyboard for my pc, I have a ps3 so online is free and I dont tend to buy games when theyre at their full price i've only bought mw2 at the full 60 bucks i usually wait till the price goes down

  • @MrMj357

You tell me what is more cost effective. TBH the reason people buy consoles is because they are stupid and don't understand money. A majority of human beings don't. That is why companies like microsoft and sony can exploit the stupidity of the absolute retards who buy their consoles and actually believe it is cheaper than a PC. In the long run all you get is a broken piece of outdated shit while a PC will always be superior.

  • @MrMj357

and to answer your question I could build a PC that can handle tessellation for downwards of $500 dollars.

  • @ethicks im trying to build one this very moment and the cheapest thing i can find that meets CoD: black ops recommended requirements costs 642 bucks. this includes a $100 19inch monitor, $90 for windows 7 (gotta have an os), and $11 for a mouse and a keyboard ( and they aren't very high quality in fact they are the lowest quality mouse and keyboards i can find). excluding the monitor thats $542, my budget can only hover around $400. I'd be happy if you could show me a pc that around that price.

  • Is there a twitter feed, with when the current drivers are released.. its kinda bothersome to go to the driver's site, every 20days or so to see if they released a new version, or even email, etc.. I know i signed up for email, but its just for marketing, notthing for drivers.

  • That is just awesome, can you imagine playing some kind of game for example like the old school Resident Evil 3 Nemesis with updated graphics with tess and have Nemesis transform and evolve with his other stages with this kind of feature. Splendid, i hope game developers jump up on this. I recently just bought me a GTX 460 XO most went out of stock already. Lucky me.

  • what abaut atom unlimite engines? will nvidia take advantage of that technology?

  • what psu did u guys used for these "beasts?"
