@MrHoustonpimp Based on the movie "Deliverance" staring Burt Reynolds....yeah it's old and hillbillyish but that's what crossed my mind watching these trailers getting pulled across at that day.
I see so many Youtube videos of this crossing that I looked on a map to find it...but didn't see any creek in the park. Is this just south of the pier? Why not wait for the tide to fall?
@BandB1111111 It runs in the winter mostly, but I believe the dam when released goes into to this same creek. From the pier it's about 5-6 miles south near the dunes (riding area). On this day, there were high winds, and high surf which causes water levels to stay fairly high. So, when low tide does come you really doesn't matter on days like this. Now you put all three together high tide, high winds, and high surf on days like this and it will erode a lot of the sand on the beach. Like this day
@pismobeachday thanks for the info. I live in Florida and there are a few places to drive on the beach, but I can't imagine the state ever allowing a crossing like this. Plus, locals here generally don't like to drive in saltwater... seems California would build a "back door" to the camping area that doesn't require river crossing...maybe just a cultural difference...haha.
My daughter and I loved your video. She says "it was cool"! I just took her yesterday and she saw the dunes for the first time. Now I want to go in the winter to see how crazy it must be. Thanks for the music and comments, they were great!
