  • @Metallimeister exactly the same...it would be impossible for a person to hear those tiny differences

  • Great job man. I'm gonna try smth like this on my strat. What kind of paints do u use? Is it something special so it doesn't go under the water and stays on the surface? Or can it be done with every kind of paint.? And how thin is the swirl paint after it's dried out? Thanx.

  • I would like to do the opposite of this (black with green swirls) if i make my guitar mat black then do it the exact way show here do you think the green will stand out right?

  • First off.. Awesome Job!!! What kind of paint works best? Can you use any paint.

And what kind of prep work needs to be done to the guitar before dipping it.

Are you repainting it first or is that the original color?

  • Can i use Borax substitute ??????

  • I have a question. I was doing some practice tries today and I seen on your website that if the paint goes to the outside theres too much borax so I added more water and then the black. It spread like yours but when I added the yellow it made ALL of the paint like go away....Im confused.

  • Hi, can someone please tell me if I could use borax substitute instead of borax??? Thanks a lot.

  • Woooow!!! Amazing!!

  • @ caleb h50 yeah you could

  • how much borax per liter?

  • SICK!!!!!!

  • can i paint my guitar (fender strat) in just one color with this method?

  • @hecto95 I painted a jem body only in pink and white, great portions of pinkk without touching the paint once you put in to water, i think its possible.

  • Very Nice!!! I want to do this with my guitar! My Question: Is it possible to swirl with Metallic-colors? And are the colors of revell the same like Humbrol?

  • That's sick bro.

  • Where did you get the body of tha Ibanez?

  • Hey Tony nice videos.

I'm swirling my guitar, and heres what I have to do (tell me if i'm wrong)

  • @ThePowerFromTheEvil Why what century are you from?

  • @tonygayter hahahahha

  • @ThePowerFromTheEvil Use a time machine. you'll get it easily in the 21st century...no need to thank me. Just glad to be of help.

  • @ThePowerFromTheEvil It's kind of an old product but you can still find it at some grocery stores, target, etc. call them to find out.

  • @ThePowerFromTheEvil I just bought a box from my local target.. lol

  • Comment removed

  • nice!

  • This is sweet I want to do this now...

  • Does it have to be enamel paints?

  • AMAZING

  • I'm gonna buy a cheap guitar from my brothers friend soon, might give this a try, and while I'm at it might as well put some new hardware and strings on

  • Thank you so much, the first 5 seconds cleared up a lot of things for me!

  • Would Americana gloss enamels work?

  • well done nice job

  • did you do anything to give it a smooth, mirror-like shine after it dried? Cause I've heard of using very fine wet sand paper but i was just curious as to what you did cause I'm considering refinishing a guitar. And great video by the way.

  • @catspajamas01 You have to finish it with a coat of clear acrylic laquer. Often about ten coats, sanding a little with fine sandpaper between each coat. It's the only way to get a pro finish!

  • nice

  • The temperature of the water can have a major effect on how the paint gets "attach" to the body ?

  • the guitar came out pretty awesome

  • ok, this is a question worth answering lol. when you repaint it with a color do you let it dry first or do you just put it in the water when your done sprayin it?

  • @Sikiric123 Dry first

  • @tonygayter what type clear nitro laquer? poly? what do you recomend

  • hey tony, i have a question. I am thinking of doing a camo style for my guitar. I think ima use the colors black, brown, green, and gray. I want to know how can i make it more splotchy instead of swirly. thanks

  • @icediomond Use the splotching method lol. Just put the paints in and dont swirl them around. :)

  • hi, where can i get carageenan, and what type of paints do i use with it?

  • @guybirg Dont need carageenan, visit the website for all teh info you need

  • @tonygayter

i know i don't have to use it, but as you said on the website...the more proffesional long lasting way to do it is the original way with carageenan..am i wrong?

  • wow that is such a wicked technique, truly awesome man... you and the guitar truly awesome... :D

  • im thinking of swirling my guitar, just one question, what type of clear coat should i use? will laquer mess up the swirl? and will anything besides laquer not be strong enough?

  • This is fucking awesome.

  • does it matter what brand of paint to buy as long as it is enamel and glossy

  • /photos/theswirling/sets/72157624753639425/show/with/4957191209/

here's the link for all the persons who don't want to type it in there browser-bar...

just type flickr.com in front of it

  • at 1:44 on the left side it looks like jimmi page from song remains the same

with the cape and hood where he is holding the staff

  • Testors paint works as well, i bought it @ Michael's, and i used a Laundry Booster that they sell at Winn-Dixie< pretty sure Publix has it too. i did a slide show video on how i did it on my guitar, the swirls didn't come out perfect, but i liked the end result

  • Try to put little drops of nail polish in some water and stick you finger in it.

  • is borax the same as oxyclean ?

  • Where can I buy a blank Luke that

  • is the green on the guitar primer or the actual paint?

  • HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • cool !

  • me at 2:26 :: AMA GAD HOW DID IT ALL END UP ON THE GUITAR D:

  • what is Borax??? and why do you need it ?

  • what is Borax???

  • @tonygayter how can you remove the swirl after it is dried???

  • @felixbarrell12345 dude its couz you yanked it out way to fast.

  • I think Ill swirl my telecaster just to confuse people lol!

  • h0w deep as this tub????

  • if i don't have borax,just humbrol enamel can?

  • You Smart Man!

  • Im gonna do this, What paint did you use? Or what brand rather?

  • Awesome painting technique, I've never actually seen this before and I've painted for 10+ years and i have to say this is an amazing way to paint. Great job. Cheers.

  • subbed o.o

  • WoooooooW !!!!

    Sick technique

    looks amazing

    great job !

  • can i use warhammer paints?

  • @felixbarrell12345 The bumpy, bubbly stuff may be caused by not using enough sealer before priming your guitar ( assuming you took it back to bare wood first ). The sealer protects the wood from contaminants and moisture absorbtion and is a very important part of the process to painting any type of wood.

  • wow, fantastic stuff man, im guna have to get some black, spray my guitar body white and then put this effect all on it in black, wooo, kinda bored of the original look of my strat. thanks for the cool vid

  • Not that Im aware of, as long as you dont try and pass it off as an original Ibanez etc... This is just a way of painting which has been around for thousands of years (look up marbling).

  • @tonygayter Oh and check out the official youtube channel (youtube.com/Th3Swirling)

  • @tonygayter the base paint of the guitar is awsome^^

  • Does anyone know if theres any legal issues with selling a guitar of my own design finished with a swirling technique. The swirling.com is an awesome website. Cheers!

  • WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how does that even work XD

  • Ok,

1: I never realised how that effect was achieved

2: I didn't realise how easy it was

3: I make all sorts of furnishing/custom items

4: I have 2kg of Borax and more humbrol paints than your average hobby store.

    5: I'm off to have a BLAST!!

  • swirling looks like an awsome way to paint anything:D

  • I've always wondered how that was done!

  • Hey do you have to Gloss it when it has dried ? Thanks

  • And Do you have to put a primer or any thing on the guitar after you pull the guitar out of the water

  • And Whats An Undercoat

  • What If The Guitar Already Has A Primer And Finish On it?
