  • Isn't that motherfucking loud, especially when your sitting right beside it?

  • Fun looking and sounding rig right there!

  • Is it a good decision to take 1975 Les Paul Custom for metal like Iron Maiden, GnR or Megadeth? Or should I buy a new one?

  • Hey mate, that sounds f'n incredible, any chance of some new vids?

  • Master on 6, that must've been loud as fuck! I'd love to get my ears ringing with those tones!

  • Heh. I have this exact same amp. Nice.

  • @DarkZ41126 Oh and how do you know yours isnt just some epiphone with a mocked up head stock? Sure you know what a les paul looks like to you from your understanding, but your observations are valid. and who cares if you have a les paul form your grandpa, you sound like a little spoiled brat, and im gonna let you in on a secret. ALMOST EVERYBODY HAS A GIBSON LES PAUL! so stop boasting.

  • @DarkZ41126 nice that you have one, what year is it? the guy who uploaded this video probably has 20 years + experience on you. He knows all the tricks, so if i were you id sit and listen, and learn. im only 16, and i dont think i know it all, i may know lots (i work in a music store), but i still would take some one who has 20 + years of experience over some one who is 15. The guy is a vintage collector/dealer probably.

  • sorry to disapoint you man but that is not a 1972 les paul custom, the binding is still white, the switch for the treble and rythem is white, its supposed to be black, and those are les paul studio pickups, either its a fake les paul, ( mainly because you didnt show the headstock for some reason ), or you just took it apart and put unorigional part on it, im not a hater though so i will say you played it great, good job

  • @DarkZ41126 Wow, I had no idea. I was sure it was a 1972 Gibson limited edition reissue of a 1954 Les Paul Custom (all mahogany body) that originally had P90 (1) and Alnico (1) pickups that were replaced with T-top Gibson humbuckers in the late 1970s. Special thanks to you, your Grandpa and whatever God you may believe in for setting the info straight.

  • @DarkZ41126 lmao the colour only goes cream really when people smoke around it. lmao and the guitar might have been in the case for years. but the binding does look a little cream, and the cap for the pickup selector is usually orange, but for that particular year it could have been white. The caps on them do break easily, it happened to my les paul!

and by the looks of this video, this guy looks like he's got some serious toys, i doubt hes going to have a fake, or mix-matched les paul.

  • Nice gear and playing man! I love your tone! keep it up!

  • cool! I have one of the 800's with the brown face too! I know that most of the faces are black. Does anyone know if this has any special significance?

  • yea nice..dont ever sell it..unless its to ME..LOOOOOOL!

  • That crunch tone is the bees knees! I tried the 100 watt version (2003) of this amp yesterday, and I completely fell in love with the power and the singing crunch tone. I'm going to buy it, along with a 4x12 cab loaded with Celestion G12-65 speaker. That cab sounded fabolous together with that amp!

  • @Renhjarta i got the same cab, and its sweet! i would love green backs in it, or even green backs and vintage 30's in an x pattern! but stock the cab is awesome! i run a peavey rock master head through mine (pretty much a jcm 800 copy) and the sound is amazing! i would love a jcm800 sitting on my 4x12 instead tho :( hope you buy it :)

  • @evh1eddie1rocks Yeah, I bought it, and it's probably the best sounding Marshall I've played through, which includes a 1971 smallbox 50w Bass head which I sold last year. I´m sure that Peavey is a rockin' amp! I own a Windsor head which has been rebuilt/modified, so it's basically a 100 watt Marshall w master volume. I love both amps, although they're freekin loud. I've only gigged w 25-50 watt amps, and have basically never been able to crank the volume above 3. Hehe. Rock on bro!

  • Beautiful amp! You got some really great tones comin out of that thing!

  • well i guess the pup in my lp bridege suck... oh wait i don't get that close to my alp unless.....i want that sustain.

  • holy shit, amazing amp, i realy enjoyed ure playing too

    check out my cover?

  • See the guitar is truly amazing. I know, it has a lot to do with the amp. But like this guitar is just so amazing, i fucking love it! I have it and a Gibson LP Custom Silverburst. It is just so versatile! I play stuff from OZZY to Iron Maiden to Priest to Trivium! I fucking love this guitar! And i fucking loved your playing, that you man for making my day!!!!

  • i like your clean sound :)

  • Amazing!!!

  • nice 800. I have an 87 2204, sounds very similar. I need a booster to get the feedback tho.

  • what pickups are you using ?

  • @Marin55555ws33 The lead pickup is a Seymour Duncan PAF and the rhythm is a 70s Gibson T-Top.

  • @jda6669 google 13 daze by rufus huff and hear a real 1958 les paul through a real stack of 100 watt plexis

  • @jte1974 Thanks! Greg's got a great classic tone and the tune reminds me of early (and superior) ZZ TOP.

  • I've got an '83 2204, thru a Les Paul... How do you get that sustain into feedback? Any pedals?

  • @pajmanj Just volume and proximity of guitar and amp (actually strings, pickup and speaker).

  • @pajmanj hes just sitting close enough to the amp also with it being cranked it will scream amazing amps, gigged with a 2204 for many years it has never failed!

  • I have almost the same rig as you, Can you watch my video and tell what you think? Tears!

  • Don't ever sell that amp. The 2204 is THE amp to have. The 2203 is way too loud for anywhere but stadiums.

  • It may be different tubes, different pickups driving the amp or the amp could be different in gain structure.

  • you said preamp is on 10, but is still an overdrive sound, not to much distortion, in others jcm800 when i crank the preamp i got to much distortion, do u think the early models is more calm amps?

  • It's a 1997 anniversary cabinet. They're like the plexi-era cabinets with the heavy basket weave grillcloth.

  • Nice! What cabinet is that?

  • Should I get a vintage modern for slash's tone and also thrash or the jcm 800.. but i heard they both need to be turned up suppper loud for good sound

  • Dude how can you get such a get tone this quiet? dont you have to take the volume like super high for it to heat up?

  • @joshua0226 I have this exact year and model. It has a master volume, so you get good gain even at low volume. You're right that it sounds better the warmer it gets. Usually by the middle of second set, mine is starting to sound heavenly. It can sound a little harsh until everything is nice and hot.

  • Im guessing your using an attenuator?

  • I'm not using an attenuator in this clip.

  • exelent head, exelent guitar, exelent player...

  • That's a great sounding 800 for sure!

  • hi ! i got a couple of questions. I'm willing to buy a 2204, but i also want a 800 1959 (non master volume) ... what an you tell me about those two amps ?? Do the 1959 break up early ?? thanks

since you have the two of them, it would be great if you could answer the questions

  • Good tone can be had with pretty much any of the earlier JCM800 models if they're in proper working order. Between a 1959 and 2204 I would choose a 2204 mainly due to the added versatility of the master volume. Usually the master volume models sound their best between 4 and 6. The 1959 would have to be cranked a bit louder due to no master volume, but both amps are LOUD at they're optimum settings. If you're looking to buy, the amp least screwed with (modded) is usually the best.

  • amazing tone

  • What kind of tubes are in there? Probably some vintage ones because sound is great! Are you running thru attenuator?

    Thanks!!!

  • did u use a foot pedal to switch between distortions

  • No pedals were used. I changed the sound by varying the volume on my guitar and the attack of my playing.

  • Nice. I have the same amp, same year. Nothing sounds the same.

  • 1:34-1:44

  • The sweet sound of a JCM 800 from mid 80's... say no more

  • hey do you have any idea of what JCM 800's are going for now used????

  • Doing a search of completed auctions on eBay should give you a decent estimation.

  • i think like 900 or so

  • depending on the model of 800 youre looking at, ive seen as low as $700 up to $2000 for a mint 2203 head with vertical inputs. i have a 1986 800 and i got mine for $1000 which is about average.

  • Killer!

  • Epic nice one got a 89 standard :) but only a JCM900 2x12 combo need a half stack :( thinking of a vintage modern

  • that is my dream guitar dude. Keep rocking!!!

  • 2204 with Drake transformer. Nice-N-Juicy!

  • Killer rig dude!

  • That must be LOUD AS HELL o my god haha

  • Hey man. Killer chops and gear. Would I need an OD pedal to get early Metallica and Judas Priest tones? Stuff like 80's metal. Thanks man and KEEP ON ROCKING!

  • Early Judas Priest tone is pretty easy to get from most stock Marshalls, but you may need a front-end boost to get into Metallica territory, although I've heard stock JCM 800s that can do the Metallica thing on their own.

  • metallica used hot rodded jcm 800s on ride the lightening.

  • No, they went through a bunch of JCM800's from a local music store in Copenhagen, DK, where the studio were. Some lead sounds had a tubescreamer in front. But no modded amps!

  • James had a Jose Arrendondo Modded SLP

  • That shop is called Aage, and they even have a signed Metallica guitar there. It is kinda cool to shop were Metallica once shopped.

  • A very nice combination!!!

  • Awesome playing and tone! Sounds great!

  • sure does doesnt it!

  • Great! Which pickups has your les paul?

  • got to love it...

  • are you using an attenuator, how can you sit in front of the amp with volume at 6?

  • No attenuator, it's just a tone that it doesn't rip my head off. Bad sound can be painful/annoying at low volumes and good sound can be pleasant/tolerable at high volumes.

  • i suppose yeptwasme meant that there funnily wasn't any feedback

  • There was feedback available, just none of the high squealing kind. Plenty of the full sounding good stuff. You just hold a note and it blooms into feedback (some notes are more responsive than others though).

  • hahaha don't think so but feels good no doubt about it .... flea from Red hot chilis says the same, no harm if you like it haha

  • i do it all the time with a marshall full stack but stand in front of it thats way louder then that

  • how a guitar is supposed to sound

  • Dude what year is your cab? is it loaded with black back speakers? you got a great sound mate!!!

    g-day mate

  • Glad you like the tone! The speakers are 25 watt Greenback reissues.

  • Ya, i love the tone!!! thats sweet!

where did you get the cab?

check out my videos and see the newest video from me, and that's my cab, mine is from 1977, i found it in a music store for $700, i took it soon as it came in, glad you have good taste in sound!!! cheers mate

  • marshalls fucking rock :)

i have an 83 or 4 marshall jcm 800 2203.. great amps :) but 2204? whats the difference between the 03 and 04s?

  • The 2203 is 100 watts and the 2204 is 50 watts.

  • why does it feedback that much?:S

Very nice guitar tho! good playing aswell

  • The feedback is due to me sitting next to the amp/cabinet and the master volume being on 6.

  • what pickups you have on thath gibson? its sound great

  • I like the tone of this JCM 800

  • Nice tone and the playing was great. Killer vibrato!

  • awsome tone!

  • CONGRATULATIONS Dude. U rock !!! You have an excellent eletric guitar, and your Marshall is perfect...and the music is amazing. I just have an Epiphone Les Paul Standard Vintage Sunburst, because in Brazil, Gibson is a cheap guitar. A Gibson Les Paul Standard, here in Brazil, it's US$ 5,000.00 . But I hope one day, I'll have a Gibson Les Paul and a Marshall JCM 800. Keep Rock !!!

  • i think its too bassy

  • i just bought a 1981 jcm800 and it is a monster, i love it, but i have played the 1983 jcm 800 and found it to not have as much BITE, still tho, GREAT amps the 800's

  • Juicy tone from that combo Brother! Nice playing too...fun-loving and rootsy, but edgy on the flip-side. Cool.

  • One of the best tones ever. Nice playing too. Enjoyed!

  • awesome!!!!

  • yes i am very very very jealous haha

  • WOW!! That's GREAT Les Paul Marshall rock-n-roll tone!! Warm and phat yet crunchy and aggressive at the same time! Great playing too!

  • Nice Chops and Tone!
