  • @762SLR762,If you remember you sent me a nice message regarding the Olympic site after i pointed out how it would be well over budget and i was accused of being misinformed and not having a clue..............What i stated still stands,so if you can read then read this this!; //money.aol.co.uk/2012/01/26/olympics-cost-11-7bn-is-it-worth-it/?icid=maing-grid7|uk|dl4|sec1_lnk2%26pLid%3D93718

  • but theres one thing the britts never win anything in the olympics but still this will be really nice

  • BEIJING 2008 OLYMPIC STADIUM IS THE BEST DESIGN!.....it looks more like the ARCHITECTURE that we should pushing for the future designs...design should not go back in time.....therefore the 2012 olympic stadium looks old fashioned and looks like something that some architect drawn at the last minute.....2012 stadium is just ugly and boring looking!

  • @iL0VEwomensfeet

I agree about the stadium design, but the London Olympic Park as a whole is light years ahead of anything that has gone before.Athens and Beijing were total disasters paticularly Athens where the site has been left in ruins. The Birdsnest is deteriorating through lack of use,and I did read somewhere that bits have fallen off. It is a monster that is being left to die, and the IOC are determined that in future it is the legacy aspect that is more important than the grand gesture.

  • @snegdub The Birds Nest is being put to other uses, actually.

  • @Kookas I think you ought to read the report by Chengcheng Jiang on the financial state of The Birds Nest. After the initial Olympics factor died down it has been very difficult to put the stadium to use except on a few rare occasions. The last thing I heard was that they were bringing in fake snow to produce a snow and ice extraveganza. It is true that the stadium has been approved for the 2015 World Athletics Championship and I am sure that the Chinese will bring it back to its former glory.

  • Good video but people still need to realise that the 2012 is going to be the biggest white elephant ever!!!!.

The site is months behind schedule and massively over budget, what's going to happen after the Olympics?.The stadium is losing two tiers, fair enough the village is being sold for private housing but what's happening with the rest?.

When it's all over there'll be a massive amount of arguing, there'll be no money left to alter the rest of the buildings......

  • @762SLR762 If taxes go up to over 60%, there won't be many consumers left to drive an economy or recovery. I agree with most of your last comment. If you buy more than you can afford, shame on you. I feel the same way about governments who are doing this on a massive scale that is unsustainable. Someone needs to cut off the spigot of loans and turn off the printing press before future generations are just slaves to this debt. Again, I wish you well (not death, like you wish to me).

  • @762SLR762 - The debt load of the UK and US is unsustainable. 2 things will happen 1) the common people will be taxed to the point where overall gdp is choaked to death. 2) they default & their triple A credit rating goes to shit. London should of never bid on the olympics. When does spending stop and paying begin? I guess you subscribe to the brilliant theory that countries can spend their way into prosperity?? BTW I don't wish death upon you for disagreeing with me..

  • @762SLR762. Wow- taking an argument about olympics cost to saying I should be drowned at birth is quite a stretch..

I do have a clue on economics. I have no debt and pay for everything I buy out right. If the UK and US followed my example, they wouldn't be buried or caused a global economic crisis!

  • I like the music

What's the name of the song?

  • if anyone can pull off a good olympics... its the worlds financial centre!! LONDON

  • Sorry to say but London isn't great city today. coz London is facing financial problems. there isn't enough fund to build olympic city.

  • Yes there is enough funds, what are you on about?

I am a Londoner and the Olympic village is coming on excellently. I have a friend who is a plumber on the site and apparently the whole thing is running ahead of schedule and looking really good already.

We're proud about London 2012 and for the whole world to see our fabulous city!

  • ill be there :D and my coach has qualifying time for rio 2016

  • Glad to see the London take on billions more debt for 2 weeks of festivities. Nice job.

  • @GT1004 Have some pride

  • @rday18 - I'm not English so no pride lost here. Just an observation that the olympics are a massive undertaking in resources, especially in this economic climate. The Olympics in Greece and the huge cost overruns are partly to blame for their current financial disaster.

  • @GT1004

£11 billion isn't going to harm a £2-3 trillion economy. How could blame Greece economic situation on something that took place 6 years ago?

We're doing better than expected if you don't know. The long term benefits of the Olympics would come years after. I live near the olympic village.

  • @omfirstutube - The olympics in Greece caused a massive debt with huge cost overruns. They are still paying for it 6 years later and will still be in 16 years..

As far as the UK, last I heard your debt load was equivalent in percentage of GDP to that of Greece. Hosting a 2 wk party that costs tens of billions is not a fiscally responsible way to deal with the current debt.

  • @omfirstutube- Forgot to mention now not only Greece is paying their debt but the whole EU and IMF as well.

  • @GT1004

Load of bull. Olympics 2004 did not cause Greece's debt problems. They've been borrowing for years and recession played a massive role. You're just trying to make Olympics look bad. As I said earlier £11b cannot harm a £2xt economy when we spend way more in war and maintenance of war apparatus. Oh and whoever told you that our debt load is equivalent to Greece's should check their facts. It wouldn't have been the same had is not being for the recession that led to more borrowing.

  • @omfirstutube - well - I live in the real world where there is a recession which did lead to more borrowing. Recessions can indeed happen, and obviously the spending led to more problems due to a lack of a rainy day fund to endure any hard times... The olympics is a waste of money no matter how you justify it. The money wasted on it could be spent much more wisely. Like paying of existing debt for instance.

  • @GT1004

Fair enough but £11b cannot be used to pay off over £500b debt. Long term revenue the olympic could generate could cover the total cost.

BTW most of £11b is coming from sponsors, not from the government...

  • Someone will get very rich...!

  • Quite like the stadium without the white ring framewrk. Thought it would look very understated and more appealling

  • I look 4ward to it.I'm a frenchman having spent 4 years in London which I deeply love.

  • It was a close battle between Paris and London but you guys eventually won,so well done to you,it's deserved.I cannot wait to get my ticket for the opening ceremony:-)

  • Its good to see some progress. All we get in the news are concerns about the funding.

  • London stills world's financial capital :)

  • sorry i mean awesome!

  • aweome
