  • I simply love the way Michael sings as the Phantom, he completely embodies the role and becomes him, I'm sorry, but Cliff Richard is bollocks, in my opinion, and sure Gerard is every woman's idea of a sexy Phantom who kidnaps and ravishes you, but in terms of vocal perfomance he is totally blown away by Michael. He is the best!

  • Actually Sarah Brightman and Cliff Richard are the original singers of this song. It was their duet that was released as a single.

  • @sallyjosie they were the first to release the song as a single, yes, but the real original singers are Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford, as they were the first to perform it together and how the song basically became famous

  • Michael Crawford and Sarah along with Steve is the only Phantom Of the Opera !!! Peroid!!

  • That laugh that Michael does here is absolutely bone chilling. My second favorite part that michael has sung.

  • Oh my goodness, Michael as the phantom gives me the shivers - he is so disturbed

I mean, Gerard is hunkness with an awesome voice and my fav phantom, but...ooooh the creeps! Erik was supremely disturbed, and I think Michael portrays that well

  • @balogh12 He's laughing to hide the pain within himself from himself.

  • i rlly didnt like the laugh at the end. shouldnt he be fking sad? why is he laughing?

  • @balogh12 in pain sometimes all that is left is to laugh

  • @balogh12 Dude.... he's dead... enjoy it, he's awesome!

  • Es la mejor cancion de musicales que e oido i love it and sarah is <3

  • This version is so much better than the original <3 Love this dude's voice! And the female singer is also awesome, their voices are much stronger and vivid

  • @JinJinDoe btw this kind of is the original...

  • @JinJinDoe SIlly this is the original! XD

  • honestly, i prefer it when gerard butler and emmy rossum.

  • this is my favorite version of this song....i love michael and sarah's voices together...its magic:)

  • @all4god14rtr  um... I agree, but actually, she never sang WITH michael in this song... ^^;

  • why did Micheal do the evil laugh is it time for the

    chandelier crash?

  • @pepe10282002 when i went to see this in London a her Majesty's Theatre this was the point when the chandelier falls onto the stage, (right about when he shouts go)

  • Comment removed

  • The Phantom, heartbroken that Christine has chosen Raoul, sends the chandelier crashing down at the end of act 1. (In the movie and the Las Vegas production, the chandelier crash takes place just after the Phantom sings "Point of No Return" closer to the end.)

  • I met Hugh. He's truly amazing, not saying that Michael isn't because he's simply amazing! Hugh is a great singer and person. I wish I got to see him when I saw it (it was a few months after MC stopped doing it so neither of them were running as the Phandom. D:)

  • Does anyone know what version of this song is this line from

"You don't understand me, my star is now in sight. Tonight, I could achieve it, you suggest I leave"

  • Broadway.

  • it's from the Sydmonton version of it

  • lol...

  • i like Lisa vroman as Christine more then Sarah.

  • Gerard should have done the evil laugh...

  • couldn't agree more

  • I like MC, but I think Ian Jon Bourg is my favorite, simply because he sounds like a real operatic tenor. :]

  • if anyone could. No one can beat Steve, Sarah or Michael in the Phantom of the Opera. Not even if they tried. These three are unbelievable. I would have given anything in the world to have seen these three. Rest in Peace Steve. You will be missed. God Bless.

  • I would have given ANYTHING to see Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in this :(

  • No way is Hugh Panaro better than Michael Crawford singing this particular piece. Michael C has a melodious fluid clarity as does Sarah Brightman. Hugh Panaro and Sandra Jenkins have too much vibrato which takes away from the actual melody. Though both could develop into fantastic No. "5" rating vocalists...I gave Panaro and Jenkins a no "3" rating.

  • I agree. Nobody can touch Michael Crawford as the Phantom. Its Really too bad Steve Barton is not still around. He had a beautiful voice. Howeveer, you ought to hear Michael Crawford sing sing this song with dale Christian in his live concert. He even tops Steve Barton as hard as that might be to swallow. The olny thing that would have made MC performance even better is if it had been Sarah instead. (I do however, like Dale Christian just as much as I like Sarah Brightman.)

  • Wow I actually really love all movie actors, but these guys are obviously the better singers. Steve Baton is incredible! I'm probably going to get flamed for this but I have seen a better phantom then this before on stage. Michael Crawford isn't my favorite.

  • I liked Michael Crawford, but I still think Hugh Panaro was the best phantom.

  • if you're talking about the dude that played the Phantom in the movie he sucked. He could not sing at all.

  • You should do all the same rehashed tunes as an extended clip like this, Angel of Music or POTO would be good next because AOM is used in AOM, The Mirror and Wandering Child

  • Wow MC holds that last note for a billion seconds.

  • yeah...i *try* to hold it for that long but I just physically can't (even if i just sing the note and mouth the rest to save stress on my vocal chords!) i hate my voice sometimes...lol

  • I can hold that note, and maybe go on for just a tad longer.

Are you sure your singing from your stomach/diaphragm, not your throat? I can go on for an age if I get it right..... Which doesn't happen often. xD

  • I LOVE that evil laugh at the end. Gerard Butler should have done that.

If I ever play the Phantom is the musical (one of my life's goals) I'll be sure to use that evil laugh.

  • iwant ot be christine! :D maybe we'll do it together!

  • sounds like fun. I reeeeeeeeeealy wanna do that evil laugh.

  • :D ireally wanna ride in the boat, mack on raul, sing the high E every night (cause i do it more than eight times a week xD), wear the dressing gown (its amazing) sing think of me all i ask of you wishhing you were some how here again, and play with the phantoms cape!

  • hehe, hope you don't get my gf jealous. She's a Phantom fanatic, too, so you ight have some competition.

    XD

  • xD she can be my third person xD i have three other frends that want tou double cast/ alternte with me. xD she can kiss your lips....i'll just kiss that little prosthetic thingy xD and we'll be insane backstage

  • i do it all the time (but my voice gives out b4 it's done on the CD...)

  • I want that part too... if you get it I'm dropping a chandelier on your head :snarl:

  • I enjoy the music, but the editing job on the sound was unnecessary, I think.

  • I love love love love x infinity Steve's voice!!!! It's so...rich and relaxing...yeah. Sarah's wonderful as well.

  • steve's voice is so wonderful! It's so rich and pleasant!

  • Sarah's voice is kind of a screechy

  • Steve Barton is fantastic as Raoul. This duet is the highlight of Phantom. Steve's magnificent baritone is a wonder to behold. I know he played the Phantom later on but this is HIS destined role. Steve is missed greatly.

  • This video is amazing thanks for posting in the movie they are horrible sorry but yes
