American intervention actually helped cause WW2!!!

Americans entering ww1 tipped the scales in favor of the french/british. It would have been a stalemate otherwise. This allowed the allies to exact EXTREMELY unfair victor's justice on the Germans which gave them the incentive to want revenge on the allies and put a man like Hitler into power. If America had remained neutral in WW1 Hitler may not even have risen to power.

Phil Duffy responded to this attack quite well a few years ago. Like Ron Paul said, non-interventionism isn't "isolationism" because non-int. alone doesn't mean shutting ourselves off from the world. Dr. Paul still supports total free trade and freedom of travel between countries. Isolationism had nothing to do with Hitler's rise to power. Hitler, in fact, was the one who supported pre-emptive strikes. Hitler declared war on the United States FIRST, so we responded by declaring war on Germany.

Look at when Hitler wrote Mein Kampf, and then see how many years later he came to power. Many other warning signs existed. Non-interventionism means that once Europe had already arbitrarily given up a few countries to Germany, the US would not have helped those countries regain independence by way of war, but either by no way or other means.

I don't think he meant to never get involved, but rather to not promote constant intervention when it simply isn't needed or when another country can handle itself. The iraq war was illegal and immoral, and just flat out unjustified, while WWII wasn't. I don't think non-intervention even applies to either one. 2 problems:

The Allies didnt finish demilitarizing Germany after WWI. The world formed the League of Nations, which fell apart, and Germany was allowed to build its arms back up, and ultimately begin again to take over Europe again.

Also, during WWII, we refused to help our allies (and continued to trade with Germany) up until a couple months after we were finally attacked (the sinking of Lusitania). We waited way too long and Germany could have been stopped quicker if we had joined in earlier.
