Some of these posts are from 3 or 4 years ago. One person said 3 years ago, "video phone on cell phone coming soon hopefully!" - funny now in almost 2012 it is here and I use FaceTime all the time!
A way cheaper alternative to brain-dead mobile phones, well, not for long, as mobiles phones will convert into mobile internet devices capable of voip.
So no one will be dependent on the extortion rates apply by mobile companies, as they will convert into wireless ISPs.
I don't think the technologies were really intended to be exactly as depicted in the commercials, but showing some of them that way helped people in 1993 relate, or were easy to depict with a few shots in a commercial. Most people weren't familiar with using the internet because having a home computer wasn't really commonplace, especially with an internet connection, so the commercials showed kiosks in public places.
These commercials were pretty dead-on in their predictions. Of course, the technologies didn't turn out exactly as AT&T depicted them in the commercial, but we have most of the things advertised in these commercials now, or what we currently have is better. The only thing I noticed that we still do not have is the whole cart checkout in one version of the commercial... for everything else, their already exists a better version.
I remember the one that starts "Have you ever renewd your dirvers license at an ATM? The chick in the clip is Traylor Howard from Boston Common and 2 Guys a Girl and a Pizza place. She says "Nice Picture" the guy is on CSI, plays Hodges. They both look like they are in high school, sad thing is I remember the commcerial when it was on live (got it taped) God I am old.
That's great. The thing is that all of these technologies are out there, but some are not being used to their full potential, and no one uses phone booths anymore.
We did. But At&t did not bring it to us.

AT&T may have predicted it---
But they cannot take the credit. Thanks for the brilliant ideas though! lol

So why the heck in 2007 aren't we doing all this stuff.
Man, those future predictions never turn out right.
