  • ...I officially feel bad about my singing abilities now.

  • is the audience illiterate? there is a screen posting every single word....if there was no screen, i would understand having the dialogue in english. but they have the words right in front of their faces...

  • I don't speak german, so I had to translate what you said...I think that operas should be performed in their original language though. So in this case, german would be preferred...besides, they had a translation slide show, so there's no need for the english dialogue...

  • yes, that´s exactly what i mean. well eventhough we should learn other language.. like when the queen get really angry to pamina..auf deutsch that will be more showed up..haha.. not just "SILENCE!" but the classic "Kein Wort".. haha.. i love that..

  • why are the songs being sung in german and the dialogues being spoken in english? that's pretty retarded...

  • wäre es auf deutsch, wird besser sein, oder??

  • it is done that way to keep the music the same way it was when it was written. The music can sound different when translated, but there's no need to have the dialogue in German so you might as well make it easier for the audience to understand.

  • This Tamino is a good singer? Are you kidding me? So many high note he gives so much tension and pushes a lot... Some high notes are not pure and clear., shake like a hell.... very disappointed...

  • I wonder of Tamino's country of origin if half of the setting is in Egypt

  • Could they have gotten a worse Tamino? He's a good singer but a terrible actor. And why do the three ladies have with french accents?

  • I believe it is supposed to be german accents???

  • nul !

  • the queen looks like she's standing and singing in a recital.

  • if your calling mozart a piece of shit your stupid he composed a fuking concerto and played violin and piano at 5

  • Lol the 3 ladies look like dandilions

  • Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria then later moved to Vienna, Austria's capital. So he was Austrian not German. I'm from Vienna... and that's why one of our main chocolate delicacies are called 'Mozartkugel' ;).

  • oh my god, those chocolates are absolutely the best!!!! i've been to salzburg a couple of times. i want to go back and have some more chocolate!!!! x3

  • if you ever read SISTERS GRIMM book #4

moth is a crazy cocunut meanie fairy!Puck is also my boyfriend

  • post more, I love it but has no money to see live opera.

  • Mozart was NOT from Austria ... He was German.

  • mozart was not german he was from salzburg austria

  • Exactly! Mozat's for Austria! NOT Germany...

  • I think that in all it was a nice production but.... I think the conducter rushing through some part in the pieces. And allthou Tamino has a lovely voice he sounds more like a baritone than a tenor.

  • i knew that. i study german.

  • woah really????

  • I love it 8)

  • great german and music. i wonder how long it took?

  • 214 years =)

  • Austrian music. Mozart was from Austria, but the official language in Austria is german :-)

  • My personal favourite Opera, too! They did a pretty good job, I like it.

  • My favorite opera ever!!! This is a nice video, thanks for sharing it!

  • Please, Can anybody tell me, What language is this sung?

  • german.

  • where can I find what the lyrics are in English? I've been searching the web, but haven't found anything yet.

  • I'm also playing The Magic Flute this year thats why I'm listening, so I can her it by people who can play this is really good. Im playing it on flute btw.

  • They all have wonderful voices, but it shows that few are theatrically trained actors.

  • how the heck did you get an hour upload on youtube?

  • Director account. You can change your current account status if you want to.

  • it's amasing wonderful... congratulations

  • Needs subtitles but still excellent!

  • Does anyone know where i might find this opera 'The Magic Flute' in English?

  • i don't think u can even find one in english cuz its mostly made in german. but in the libretto, u can find the 2 languages, one in german, and one in english but they don't sing it in english. it's jsut translation in the libretto.

  • thanks for the reply, i know it's sung in english as well as many other languages on stage performances, i also have a libretto which is German/English i just thought that as there is in the theatre, there would be an english equivalent on video/dvd.

  • 0_o It's beautiful, but the words go right over my head.

  • soulfood :)

  • interesting German, were there any diction coaches?

  • I'm playing in The Magic Flute this year. :)

btw, how did you upload an hour long video?!

  • mozart jest zachwycający .kocham go.

  • Magnifico!!!... Asi es como yo queria escuchar y ver esta OPERA; Completa sin interferencias... Exelente. Gracias por subirlo. Saludos desde el Peru

  • Magic Flute is just perfect. From beggining till the end. There is nothing that could be done better,is there?

    (Sorry for mistakes- I'm Polish)

  • Well said my friend.

  • When in doubt, substitute young boys for women.

  • Hmmm, I was under the impression that Mozart was coherent enough to right his own libretto.

  • Three ladies, Pamina, Papageno, Queen of the Night-lovely...Tamino... makes me uncomfortable...sorry

  • How can any one not love Mozart? The score to this piece is so well written! He was an 18´th century producer that was good enough to make hes music carry on through the ages!!! Herr Mozart! Sie war, unt bist, eine meister des musik!!! Danke schön fûr 200 jahren schöngeschäft!!

  • And only thirty-five years old, at that. Imagine if he had died of old age...

  • I've thought of that. What else would he have done if he had lived as long as Haydn?

  • Oh! Poor Tamino! I'll admit, I laughed when he cracked. But, I've been through the same thing. He dealt with it nobly. Overall, this is a very good production!

  • I noticed that too! He recovered quite quickly though and gave a beautiful performance ^_^

  • this is really good

  • I love the Three Ladies' costumes.

  • I like their costumes. They remind me of the costumes from the movie "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" Hahaha.

  • Tamino- 19:54, ouch!

  • you noticed too? you're right, ouch is the onl description.

  • how do you manage to get a 1 hour long video onto youtube?

  • exactly!!

  • I guess it is the identification of the user? It is quite different from us

  • They signed up for a director's account.

  • the coloratura of the queen of the night is just like OMG but i prefer luciana serra

  • how can you compare them, they are in two different levels, this queen is really good for her age and experience.

  • This is a wonderful Opera, I just wish i could understand more of the German words so that I could appreciate it more.

I still rate the performance a 5/5, well done! ^_^

  • Wow.. I've never heard that little bit by the Three Ladies before the end live before. Apparantly it was something Mozart cut out. Btw I love the costumes and scenery! :)

  • I love the sound of an entire orchestra tuning up. Sounds like Brian Eno! Heh..

  • Wie spielen sie so schnell?? Schade.

  • ooopsss... he cracked?!

  • that's just plain tension. from the second he opened his mouth i expected the crack, lol.

  • In english? this idiom dry for the opera and is oryginally scrypt for german? I dont think it!

    (Note the sarcasm)

  • It's much easier to translate spoken dialogue from German into English because you can capture the meaning without having to retain the original meter (that is to say the number of syllables in a line). With the arias, However, any translation will need to retain the original meter for it to match the music...which takes alot more skill and often results in a reinterpretation of the libretto. Compare The Threepenny Opera.

  • can somebody reply to my comment and tell me what second of this video does the lady sing the high F?

  • the "queen of the night aria" can be found to the right as a seperate video.

  • thanks

  • the 3 ladies are the GREATEST

  • I think the Queen of the Night is the most difficult role. It takes a very good soprano!

  • omg, that crack during tamino's aria. what a sport! i would've been petrified. lol

  • 19:53 ouuchh!

  • Oops!

  • 14:07 papageno

  • 33:08 yay

  • amazing... play nonstop for so long must be tiring

  • What strikes me the most is that they sing in German and they really do quite a good job. (I'm from Germany) Actually i'm not sure whether there is an englisch libretto for Die Zauberflöte.

@p0t80: the three are attracted by Pamino (the orange guy) and argue who will stay to protect him, but they declare it to be not the right thing to do and at 13:20 they sing "Lebewohl" (Good-bye)

  • Tamino, not Pamino, sry.

  • Actually there is an english libretto, and hell, hear the translated opera sucks!

  • what's going on at 13:20?

  • I adore Papageno!!!!

  • thank you very much for add this... this is the miracle of internet!!

  • BRAVO! Well done! Superb!

  • A very nice production, and "props" must be given to Mozart for an Opera in German, instead of Italian. Thank you.

  • amazing! thank you so much for posting!

  • The guy in orange in the beginning 0.07.22 sings something like this : Help Me, Help Me, Help Me, The clever snake who hunts me, Merciful Gods its getting close!

  • =(

I wish i coould understand what were they singing!

    Mozart is really my idol!!

  • There are moments in this production of The Magic Flute that we found unquestionably superb. We think some of the 'magic' in this rendition lies more in the captivating stage presence of the performers than in the implied powers of Tamino's flute or Papageno's glockenspiel! One thing we are certain about: this production conveyed the Magic Flute in the spirit of light and love that so characterizes Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

  • COOL!!

  • The Magic Flute is a -capolavoro-!!!!

  • WOW one hour??

  • This is only the first act. Act two is an additional hour and fifteen minutes. If you read the info box, you'd see that this production is 2 hrs 15 mins long.

  • OMG, I never knew that an opera could be this good and funny! XD I LOVE THIS! Thank you NU! :D

  • Wonderful performance. I'm not particularly fond of this Tamino, but Papageno is wonderful! Great testament to one of Mozart's best operas.

    -Jon

  • That was Sooooooo FAST! The Queen's aria was Waaay fast. God bless her! She did a great job.

  • Dunno what is it about the Overture...every time i listen to it, it seems to get longer and longer! But always as spectacular!

  • I didn't know you could put such a long video on youtube. If only Wolfie could see this! The Magic Flute is my favorite opera. Thanks to you, I got a free night at the opera!

  • LOL wonder what he'll say :P

  • I was the third boy in the magic flute in norway, when it was in Drammen theater :D

  • I can't believe "the Magic Flute" is on Youtube...

My sisters are going to FLIP when they find this
