  • I have just recently customized my PRS soapbar 1 with DiMarzio Tone Zone(Bridge) and Virtual P-90(Neck) pickups and have never heard such an amazing sound coming out of a guitar. In my opinion DiMarzio Pickups, Rule! I have completely replaced all of the electrics with Vintage waxed wire, Orange sprague cap, Switchcraft switch + jack, Treble comp. cap + resistor and configure the circuitry exactly the same as the Ibanez JS model. I am getting an amazing sound and sustain with this setup.

  • beautiful!

  • is this one stock? does it really has P90s on it? i got the same guitar but i think these are only stock soapbar pickups.

  • @hiiamderek21This one is completely stock...I've got a few of them in stock now (at my store) and I'm going to do a comparison of a stock one and one that has a pair of Dimarzio Virtual Humbuckers (that are P-90 sized)...video demo/review/comparison coming soon... Thanks for watching!

  • @greengtrs but these pickups installed at your stock PRS are NOT SD P90s right?

  • @hiiamderek21 Yes...these were stock...

  • beautiful sound.

  • is this one made in korea?

  • @hiiamderek21 Yes...and I have another one just like it if you are interested...these have become my favorite guitars (and I own a "beyond high end" PRS also)...I try to stock used ones at all times...right now I've got a white one, a greenburst maple top and another one just like this one...

  • @greengtrs because somebody is selling me this guitar same as yours here. is this guitar heavy?

  • @hiiamderek21 How much? They generally weigh in somewhere between 6 and 7 pounds...

  • @greengtrs wow. really light.. its second hand for $350 in a prestine condition

  • @hiiamderek21 That sounds like a fair deal...that's about where I start mine (for auction)...

  • @greengtrs im pretty excited getting it this coming sunday.

  • @greengtrs does this guitar has a Push-Pull pot?

  • May know whats your opinion on wrap around tailpiece?

  • @iDealMedley I think my favorite way is strings through the body (to get the most possible woody tone) and then a wrap around is next. Keeping it simple is usually the best way to get the purest tone...but I do love a good trem bridge too (6 screw Vintage Fender/PRS style vs 2 screw Floyd/modern Fender style for the most contact with the wood).

  • @greengtrs i thinking of getting the single cut version of this , is it hard to change string with a wrap around tailpiece because i've never use a guitar with a wrap around tailpiece

  • @iDealMedley It's easy...

  • I've really only liked PRS's singlecut's, but this guitar is just amazing.

    Great playing too man.

  • @xTOREMENTx Thanks! I love these guitars...almost more than the high end American ones...the body contouring is more comfortable...and they sound great!

  • HOLY SUSTAIN!

  • Ain't it cool?

I've got an older Santana SE. Almost the same as your's with two humbuckers.

For the money, an excellent peace of work!

  • not on highgain sound but on crunch p-90 is very nice…i think.

  • I had the opportunity to buy this. New. I bought a fucking Strat instead. What was I thinking?

  • Got the exact same one dude its incredible for the price and qualtiy!

  • Hey I like that sound. never heard a Paul Reed Smith befroe but I liked it.

  • I have both this model PRS (Black with custom guard) and a Fender SuperSonic... is such a magic combination... you need NO pedals! Every rock tone you want...

  • Is this the Korean version? I have the Korean SE II soapbar in wine red/mahagony wood.

  • All SE models are Korean...

  • Thanks for posting this, I bought one used about a month ago. I can't put it down. For the money - $350, it is fantastic. Actually, its just fantastic - period.

  • i tried 5 different prs today and the prs se one is my favorite, but for the look i prefer the custom.

  • how can you do that sustain on 1:20 ?? i cannot with the same guitar ^^ is it the amp that make that effect ??

  • The amp (and my close proximity to it) is a huge part of that!

  • On the product lists they said the pickups were soapbar pickups, not P-90 ...

  • Soapbar is just a nickname for P-90's.

  • which would somebody prefer for metal

    maple body or alder body

  • Metal has spanned 4 decades and has encompassed so many artists and sounds...your question is a bit vague. Are you the only guitar in the band...are you playing lead...are you thinking P-90's (kind of rare for any kind of metal)...whammy bar...if so, a locking Floyd style system...etc...

Need more info...what do YOU want your sound to be?

  • @greengtrs well yes i am the lead guitar

im looking for that deep grunge metal sound an the high pitched solo

im looking at several guitars with floyd rose tremolo but the only diffrence is the type of wood alder and mapel so what are the sounds of thoes types an which would be best for the soundd im lookking for

    thanks!

  • Thought I answered here...Maple is going to be slightly brighter...maybe a hair more sustain because it is a harder wood but both are great tone woods...go with whatever sounds and feels best to you...the differences are subtle. What makes and models have you narrowed your search to (or have you already bought)?

  • @greengtrs Can you explain me something ? I have the same guitar, and when I play a note and making a bend on another string, the sound turns so bad... are you absolutely sure that these pickups are P-90... I don't think so...

If you don't understand my problem, go to Allways With Me Allways With You of Joe Satriani (1st video) on minute 1.00

the sound I get is just strange...

  • That is such a great song! Which string does the sound turn "bad" on...the bent string or the stationary one?

  • @greengtrs it's the bent one, but the sound turns bad only when ther's some distorsion... sounds great when it's clean.

  • You may have a high fret somewhere beyond the fret you are on...try moving your bend up past where you are (or on different strings in different places on the neck) and see if it still happens...you may want to let a good repairman check it out...

  • @greengtrs don't think so cause the problem doesn't occure when i use a clean sound... anyway, thank you for your answers !!

  • You're welcome...What amp? Tube or Solid State? Sometimes there are certain frequencies that can cause problems...some speakers or cabinets have issues with certain notes...and distorted makes it worth or magnifies it...I remember Peavey Classic 30 (1X12") combos having a bad time with certain low notes...

  • What Fender is the guitar being played through.

    Cheers

    Paul

  • It's a Super Sonic combo with an Avatar Vintage 2x12 and all 3 of the speakers are Hellatone 30's.

    Cheers right back!

    Merry Christmas!

    Howard

  • Maple you say???? Wheres the maple wood?? the guitar is mahogony...

  • Did I say Maple, I meant Sitka...no seriously, they do it both ways...I prefer straight Mahogany myself but this one has a Maple top...more like a thin veneer for looks (and yes, the body and neck are Mahogany...Rosewood for the fingerboard). I have owned 2 of the Maple (top) versions and one of the all Mahogany versions...I've still got a maple one that looks almost exactly like this...I'll do a demo this week with a close up of the top and flames...keep an eye out for it. Thanks for watching!

  • @greengtrs sitka is a spruce, this model doesnt have a top its just a vaneer finish

  • That's what I said...I was just teasing sitkatop about a Sitka Top because of his name...it is just a thin veneer of maple on top basically for looks although everything does affect the final sound.

  • made in korea??

  • Yeah...and I like it as much as most of the 15-20 US PRS models I've owned...I wish they made a US version with a Nitro gloss finish...not that they really do that on any of their guitars...but until then, I'll keep buying these...I just bought another one like this and a solid mahogany one as well. Demo's coming soon...eBay listings soon after that...but offers here welcome as well. Thanks for watching!

  • i have the semi-hollow version of this guitar and i want to put a mini hucker in the neck position and a seymour duncan hot p-90 in the bridge position. Do you think this would beef up my tone a little?

  • That sounds like it would be really cool...I haven't actually played the semi-hollow version though...one of these days...I've been looking...

  • im getting one in exactly a month from my cousin, but my other cousin who owned it previously has customised it so its more like the CEs *big happy Face*

  • Yeah i know exactly what you mean, i own one and i'll never get rid of it, its so nice, im suprised the sound that comes out of it!

  • What is that orange guitar in the background?

  • It's an Ibanez GAX-70.

  • Man, I've been aganizing over this guitar. I've been a tele feak for more than 25 years. I think it'd make a great blues guitar. I really need a new mixer though! I need a better source of income.

  • It's a great guitar...I'll be demoing my all Mahogany version really soon...these are awesome for all sorts of music...Blues, Rock, Country...maybe not Metal...but they can still play really hard and heavy stuff.

  • i always tought prs was overpriced, but this baby changed my mind.

a friend of mine owns it and i could not believe the sound and the construction quality..im buying one soon.

  • Some of them are over-priced...and the stripped down ones usually sound the best anyways...but the only thing someone could really complain about on these is that they are made overseas...but what isn't? I wish there was a USA version with a Nitro finish, that would get respect. i find it to be more comfortable to play than most high end PRS guitars because of the body contouring...I just got a solid Mahogany version (I'll be demoing soon) because I was so sorry that I had let this one go.

  • In your opinion how do you compare the sound of a soap bar to a single coil?

  • I agree! The body shape and contouring makes it more comfortable to play than the high end models (and I have personally owed over a dozen and sold probably close to 1000 or so over the years). If they made it here with a nitrocellulose finish, even the high end snobs would have to agree...people would go nuts! I am sorry I let this one go...I am currently looking for a plain Mahogany version...

  • btw nice playng

  • the part at 1:16 was fucking wicked, do you have a sustainer kit installed, on it? plz comment back

  • No sustainer/no tricks...just me and the amp (which is awesome...great cable too...Monster Jazz which lets everything through it better than anything else I've ever tried...you can buy them through me and they come with a lifetime warranty...no receipt needed...which means you can even pass that warranty on if you ever want to sell it...which you wouldn't).

    Thanks for watching!

  • man how do u raise the bridge cuz ive got one with a wraparound and can't find info almost anywhere

  • Uh...that would be with the 2 huge screws on either side...with a big screwdriver...

  • but do the smaller black hex screws need to be removed first?

  • No...those are for adjusting the length so you can get the intonation as close to perfect as possible.

  • on elast question ...does the bridge piece need to be removed first from the two huge screws, the screw rissen and the the bridge piece put back on....or i should just grab a screw driver and just do it?(sorry for asking so many questions but i need to be informed*

  • No problem...ask as many as you need to...we've all been there and I'm sorry for answering like a smart ass to begin with...do a quarter turn (at a time) each or so to bring it up or down slowly and somewhat evenly...it is normally a bit higher on the low string side...and the neck should have a small amount of relief (or bow)...not totally flat...

  • what pedal/s should i get 4 $340

that would reli help i dont hav any at the moment

  • I really liked the Vox Tonelab SE which you can buy used for that...best sounding effects and some really great amp and speaker modeling as well...built like a tank. There are a lot of really good pedals out there...and you may want to consider something with a loop in it...check out some of my demo's (and I'm just learning to use it...) tons of fun and great for practice (timing) and for live once you get it down...check out Phil Keaggy...he does amazing stuff with loops...

    Good luck!

  • im thinking about getting this guitar but i dont know if you can put active or passive pickups in, has any1 put active pickups in it or if any1 knows that you can or cant can some1 reply back plz

  • hey whats the difference between the se soapbar and the se soapbar ll???

  • the body shape

  • how would soapbar pickups sound with a fuzz pedal?

  • I'm thinking about getting this guitar or an Epiphone standard. which one do you think i should get?

  • Apples and oranges there...they are very different...what does your gut tell you...which sound do you like better? The pickups are totally different sounding...on the plus end here...you won't sound (or look) like everyone else...and I find this to be better made and more comfortable if that helps sway you...but I like a good Epi Les Paul when I can find them (not every one is so good). The neck will be thinner on the Epi and no hum there either. Try to do aside by side comparison...

  • ok! thanks soooooo much for responding!!! :D

  • i have this guitar in blue mattaeo or something like that and holy shit it sounds like an old gibson les paul special it is amazing

  • Amazing playing! Beautiful guitar! Got one too, but won't give it away :-P

  • Gorgeous guitar.

    Beautifully played :D.

    Shame they have been discontinued.

  • Did you end up selling that prs se soapbar II?

  • Yeah...it went fast! Thanks for watching...I'm working on getting more of them if possible. Thanks for watching!

  • Yeah I looked on your ebay page and saw it sold. Good news for me is I found one locally in brand new condition and scooped it up. You are the reason I bought it. I enjoy your clips. I will keep checking back to see what else you have. Thanks for posting your clips. I enjoy your style of play.

  • Excellent playing.

  • Thanks!

  • Hi :)

Im between the PRS SE soapbar and the semi hollow version

    can you help?

  • saemihollow

  • why?

    I like also the AES620HB

  • I dONT KNOW I JSUT THINK THE HOLLOWBODY IS VERY NCIE

  • I'm a big fan of Semi-hollow's and I've been looking for a used one to try out...no luck yet though...I also want to try the straight Mahogany version...they are all probably really nice! If I get any I'll post a review...

    Thanks for watching!

  • i've been checking out the AES620HB, the semi-hollow version of the prize winning aes620. It's mahogany with maple top and a seymour duncan jb on the bridge. it's also cheaper than the prs se semihollow. i'm also a fan of yamaha, i would like to have your opinion, iv'e never played a semihollow before, but i want to try. why do like them?

  • Yamaha build great products...everything they make except for the bottom of the line stuff is very good but good luck re-selling it if you don't like it...and it has nothing to do with the quality...it's just that thye don't paint skulls on their guitars and give them to every new hate metal band out there (just to be seen?)...well PRS doesn't quite do that either, but...

I like the PRS because it is a consistently well made, comfortable, cheap (as in inexpensive) guitar.

    Hope that helps a bit!

  • I loves me some P-90's. Great playing.

  • Thanks! Me too!
