Oh! I forgot to mention that we did see a couple of rocket launches when we were there. Though I was just a little kid, I still remember it quite well! Seeing this video brings back some incredible memories for me even though the area has changed so much since 1971. I was able to watch the nighttime launch of Space Shuttle Discovery in August of 2009. That was my first viewing of a shuttle launch in person and particularly at night. It is a sight that I will never forget, believe me!
I have revisited this part of Florida on vacation three times now and I always come in the summertime depsite the humidity and mugginess. I live in Southern California now and have been since we left Florida in 1971 when my dad was stationed at the now closed Norton AFB in San Bernardino. I don't think Hightower Beach Park was there when we we there. I think it was just a plain old beach unless I am wrong. But it was a totally different time back then. I still like going there though.
Nice video. I lived here from 1969 to 1971 because my late father was stationed at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station during those years. We lived in the old south Patrick AFB base housing which is all gone now. There are new homes or condos in their places. Anyway, I was 4,5 and 6 years old then. We lived there when the historic Apollo space program was going on. From our house, we were within walking distance from the beach literally. I take it you shot this video from Hightower Beach Park.

They call it Satellite beach because of the Satellite Indians the Spanish met when they discovered Florida.
